I love the hat. The coverage is great and its very adjustable so it stays on my tiny head - an issue I have with many of the full coverage hats. Style-wise its ridiculous looking, I love that about it but my girlfriend...not as much, haha. Its fun, unique and serves its purpose better than most. Also, be aware that the adjustable mesh part is visible when you wear it, it sits pretty high up on your head. Love that it floats and its very well made. I live FL and its perfect for a day of floating down the springs or out on the boat. I gave it a slightly lower mark on durability bc the foam is quick to bend out of shape and it is not collapse-able/packable. Altrec packed it in a box that was not quite big enough and so it was a little bent out of shape when I got it. I've managed to re-bend back to almost even but I'm not someone that cares enough to return it over something like that. I'd recommend including special shipping instructions with your order requesting that they pack it in a bigger box to prevent this from happening to you.

This is the best sailing hat. It makes a statement and if stays on but if it blows off it floats. Best water hat I ever owned.

I wore this hat for the first time yesterday during a 2 hour river paddle with lots of sun, little cloud cover, and no sunblock. It was very comfy, and kept my face, neck, and head well-protected from the elements (no burn!). The adjustable headband has plenty of room for all manners of head size and keeps it well-put. If the wind picks up, there is also the chinstrap with cord lock. Can be used to bail out your boat, should that be required. It is rather soft foam, so heed the advice not to leave in your car on a hot day, as it does misshape and, I imagine, melt easily once past it's temp limitations. You may wish to store it resting right-side up on a flat surface to retain it's proper shape. Wearing a pack may interfere with proper and comfortable wear of this hat given it's round nature. Consider this if you choose to hike with it - you may be limited to smaller/shorter packs that don't rise past your neck. My favorite part is the look my friends give me when I wear it.
