Greatest shoes ever
March 18, 2012

My wife brought me a pair of keens to just kick around in and there were the greatest. I decided to get me a black lace pair for work as I'm on my feet all day walking. They are the most comfortable shoe ever. The extra toe space makes all the difference in the world. I can walk in them all day and still leave them on when I get home. The only minor issue is the black shoes leave a little black on my white socks but not much and it does wash out. I'm in my 60's and would recommend them for any age.

Pros: box toes, true to size, comfortable, durable
Cons: black color comes off

Like the shoe
March 11, 2012

I usually where a 10.5, but I'm gonna need a 10 on this shoe. It looks sharp, perfect for a casual business environment. I'm going to return it for the same shoe.

great shoes
January 12, 2012

I am a big fan of Keen shoes. I was not let down with Alki lace. They have a generous toe box that Keen is known for. They are a little more subdued then my other Keens , which is perfect for my purpose which is to wear them to work. I found the size 10 a half size bigger then most other shoes that are size ten .I would go down a half size from your normal one when ordering. I just got them so we will see how they do in longevity. I would recommend these shoes.

great fit & comfortable
December 08, 2011

this is my second Keen purchase. The shoe fits comfortably all day. I had several pair of shoes but none fit like Keen. I wish I found Keen sooner before I spent $$$ on other shoes.

June 08, 2011

True to size I replaced my slip on Keens with these and they are very comfortable! I wear them for work and have to stand on my feet all day on concrete with no pain. Excellent fit and finish another quality Keen product.

Great Color
February 18, 2011

Great color and fit. Very comfortable. The lines of the trim make this shoe a bit less rugged looking than many of the other Keens I have owned. I kind of like the rugged look better. So I guess that comes down to a matter of preference.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use
Cons: Cost, Bad design
Comfort: 4 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

Keen Alki
February 07, 2011

Keen are great for those with a wide toe box. i like that these do not have an insulated ankle edge so jeans don't sit on top. These have a great finish and are comfortable right out of the box.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value
Cons: Wears quickly
Comfort: 5 / 5
Durability: 4 / 5
Quality: 4 / 5

Keen's still great
February 02, 2011

Quality seems to come down a tad, but over all I'm very happy with this shoe. This is my third pair in about 5 years. The first pair wore like iron, and I still use them. The second pair was great for about a year, and even though the outside looks great, the inside is totally obliterated. Same shoe as the first one. The Alki seems great so far, though at the time I wrote this, I've only had them for about a month. They are dressed up more than any other Keen I've owned, but still have that level of walk forever comfort. Not a bad thing at all since I wear them for work...

Pros: Great design, Performance, Great value

I have a high arch and a very wide foot, it is very hard to find shoes that fit. These Keen's run wide and they are very comfortable. They are well made with high quality materials. They look good too.

good shoes
January 11, 2011

I really like the style of these keens. The toe bumper is not quite as large as other keens. They are just as comfortable as other keens I own. The sizing does run large - I usually wear 11 - I had to size down to the 10.5 which fits great. The only gripe I have is that the shoelaces come untied easily. Other than that they are great shoes, with typical keen comfort and durability.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value
Comfort: 3 / 5
Quality: 1 / 5

Disappointing Decine in Quality
January 10, 2011

I had a pair of very similar Keen shoes that wore out, so I ordered these very similar shoes. As the saying goes, "Looks are not everything," as they looked similar, but I found the construction to be substantially lower in quality and features. The tongue is not sturdy and folds down when inserting my foot and the lack of a nicely rolled, separate leather edge makes it less comfortable. Bottom line, I am going to take advantage of Altrec's return policy and try something else.

Cons: Poor quality
Comfort: 2 / 5
Durability: 3 / 5
Quality: 4 / 5

Not as comfortable as other Keens
December 19, 2010

I decided to try this shoe for the attractive styling but after trying them on I found that they are not as comfortable as my other Keens. The footbed was OK but there was minimal padding on the "topline" (on the top sides where the shoe hits just below the ankle). I decided to return them and go with the Briggs II.

Pros: looks good
Cons: Bad design
Comfort: 5 / 5
Durability: 3 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

I own two pair of Keens(Austins),size 9 1/2, and they are a perfect fit and the comfort level is OFF THE CHART!!. I wanted a Keen in Full Grain Leather(FGL) the Austins are Nubuck,So I went with the Alki Lace..size 9 1/2 and they were too big...The Keen web site says they fit true to size..not true with these...I sized down and the fit was better but too small...I tried the Keen PTC Oxford 9 1/2 and too much volume.....again FGL....Try on before purchase or make sure the company has a good retrurn policy like Altrec. tAlso the flap at the end of the eyelets is not sewn down potential for a snag of tear.

Pros: Build quality
Cons: Bad design, sized too big
Comfort: 5 / 5
Durability: 5 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

Shoes that do what is claimed
November 04, 2010

Well, my second pair of Keen shoes - Men's Alki Lace Shoe. Having had many disappointments finding a shoe that really had a comfortable foot bed I was urged to try Keen by a sales assistant who obviously knew her footwear. Wonderful. In all honesty I have never worn a shoe like them. The Men's Alki Lace Shoe is every bit as comfortable and is great as a dress shoe. Quality is excellent and nice soft leather. In truth there is not one feature that I dislike. I really believe though the secret is in the wonderful metatomical EVA footbed as the manufacturer describes it.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, comfort plus
