Killer casual shoe

I've had my Austins for a few months now. My only complaint would have been that they are quite stiff out of the box. The problem I had with that is that the tongue is cut right in line with the opening and since it wasn't supple and quite robust, it dug into the top of my foot. However after two days use, it broke in and I feel like I am walking on clouds since then. Best shoe I have ever owned. If you want a more supple fit from day one, go with the Richmond.

Keen's are the first shoe I have purchased that are ready to wear all day with total comfort. The more I wear them the better they get. I am purchasing my next pair today and will purchase additional Keens in the future.

I purchased the Austins for a two month trek around Europe exactly a year ago. This was the only pair of shoes I took away apart from a pair of flip-flops, and I can honestly say they are probably the best pair of shoes I've ever owned. In fact I still wear them to work daily, and I walk about 5km every day (except when it rains of course)to get there. I'll be buying Keens again for sure. Brilliant.

This may seem an odd review as I'm neither a mountaineer or long distance hiker. 13 months ago I came down with Multiple Sclerosis which has affected my sight, balance and walking. Fortunately I can still walk BUT I weave a lot! I wear these shoes all the time -- comfortable -- look great -- wear well (even with my way of stepping -- and they assist my balance. There are some shoes I cannot tolerate at all now due to my illness but for how MS has affected me (everyone gets hit a little different) they are ideal for my needs. I'm on pair three (I wear them out more than normal due to my gait). Maybe I should think about climbing a mountain!

My husband loves the keens. Only problem, the moisture from his feet seems to be seeping through the front toe area onto the leather, leaving a "stain" on both shoes.

I have wide feet and suffered from tight shoes for many years until I discovered Keen Austin shoe,they are great, no compression at all ,great arch support and a rugged look,this is my 4th pair and I just love it.

Great shoe, especially for someone like me with flat feet. The supplied footbed is excellent and it also can be removed to use custom orthotics. This will be my shoe of choice for my next overseas holiday... looks great and is really snug and comfortable. I'm an Aussie and its quicker and cheaper to purchase from Altrec than any online store in my own State - only 7 days for delivery.

I was looking to replace a well worn pair of Keens that had had many adventures including hiking to the top of Yosemite Falls. That shoe was essentially a canvas version of the Austin. While I was sad Keen wasn't making that shoe anymore, the Austin is very similar and has the same great construction and fit. I particularly like the large toe box, though I've found Keens to run a little small for the size. Now I just have to convince my wife to let me order this shoe in all the colors available! :-)

These shoes are ugly. looking down as you wear them, they look more like a clown's footwear. very wide forefoot with rubber bumper at the toe area. once you can get by on the appearance, they are a great all around shoe. very comfortable and grip well on most surfaces. I'm glad I bought them.

I just recently purchased a pair of the Keen men's shoes Austin style and I am very pleased with them so far. The upper parts of the shoe appear to be a mating together of a suede leather outer with a canvas-type inner liner. A little thinner than I expected but that just may be me (think Vans or old style Keds). The insoles are removable which can be a plus if you need to insert your own prosthetic custom insole as my wife does. The insole fits securely and doesnt wiggle around. The sizes run a little small. I normally wear a size 10.5 but opted for a size 11 and it fits perfectly. As I've gotten older, I often have a hard time finding shoes that fit well. That's one of the things I like best about these Keens. The fit is excellent! Just enough arch support but not too much - very comfortable to wear right out of the box. I'm on my feet all day long so this is a big plus for me. The shoe is snug at the rear and wide at the toe area a very comfortable feel. Lastly, I just like the way they look - a rugged, casual, outdoor-type appearance for kicking around on sunny Saturdays with jeans and a sweatshirt. Would I purchase another pair? Absolutely.

I have had foot problems, and tried various shoes and special insoles - not much worked until I wore the Keens. They were comfortable right out of the box, I wear them every day and my foot is better - I'm now onto my 2nd pair of Keens (sandals) and they seem great as well!

i reckon i should be getting commission i talk these shoes up so much . planto facitis on the heels, require support and cushioning and even weight distribution. these do all theses things while being weather and bomb proof.

First pair of Keen, and I now have a new brand. From the very first day they feel like I've been wearing them for years . . . in a good way :) Very comfortable, good looking, workhorse of a shoe. No achy feet after work anymore :)

The shoes have good support and cushioning. They are as comfortable as some of my Ecco's. I like that they are a little wider than most shoes in the toe box.

I ordered my Keen shoe on Saturday, December 9th. It was sent ground (slowest)and it arrived on Monday, December 18th, which was critical since I left the country for the holidays on the 20th. I wore the shoes constantly for 10 days while in Switzerland with only a pair of crew socks and my feet were never cold even while trudging through the snow. I spilled ice cream on the toe of one and didn't know it...even though it had dried all it took was wet cloth to restore the finish. The arch support is also excellent. For the price an exceptional value.

I have plantar fasciitis so a supportive shoe is very important. These were fantastic out of the box. No break-in was needed. I plan on using these everyday on a trip to Europe in a couple of months. They arrived on time and the price was the lowest I could find on the Internet

This is the second pair of these shoes that I have purchased. The original pair I've worn for almost a year now. I wanted a second pair before they discontinued the style. I wear this shoe all the time, whether I'm in jeans or out on the town. You can't go wrong with the Austin Shoe.

I have worn the Kean Austin now for about a week now (the only shoe I've worn)...walking my dog and daily errands. The heel pain that I was experiencing has all but disappeared. Wow! Superior comfort and good looks at a great price!

A really great casual shoe

A great casual shoe that looks good and is fun to wear! Very comfortable secure feeling low top type shoe that provides excellent foot support. Ideal for light outdoor activities and general casual wear. Great for traveling! Sizing seems very accurate and wide toe box is good with heavier socks.

My recent purchase of the Austin shoe marks the fourth purchase of Keen shoes I have made. The shoes are amazingly comfortable, and that's right out of the box. The footbeds mold to my feet and I've yet to experience any lack of comfort. I'd recommend the Keen brand to anyone looking for a casual or hiking shoe.

The keen Austin fit very well and allowed for a wider foot with great ease and a lot of comfort. I do a lot of walking around at work and so far these shoes are fitting the bill and then some. I look forward to seeing how well they hold up over the winter and how long the tread pattern keeps its grip. So far they are better than expected and the price was great.

I love these shoes and where them for work and going out daily. They truly are versital. The thing I love about Keens, all that I have tried, is there roominess in the toe bed. They are a good fit and are about as comfortable as could be.

At 2 M or 78 in, I'm a tall person, used to finding very few shoes in my size 14. About 8 years ago at age 52, I sustained a plantar fasciatis injury which can be agravated by shoes with the wrong heel shape. This compounds the search for suitable footware at any price. I found that Keen sandals not only fit well but their heel cup allows weight to be borne comfortably at the perimeter of the heel. I've been riding a mountain bike daily in Keen sandals all summer but as October temperatures in the foothills of the Adirondacks have fallen into the 30's, I needed closed shoes. Altrec listed the Keen Austin at a reduced price so I ordered them and am very satisfied; I recommend them with no reservation.

These are the only shoes my husband can wear.

Just got my first pair of Austins. They are very comfortable, quite similar to the Presidio. Contrary to the "fit tip", I find that the Austin fits exactly like all the other Keens that I own (Presidio, Newport, San Antonio, Targhee, etc), ie, I would not recommend buying a "half-size" smaller. In fact, like all the other Keens I own, I would recommend buying a half-size larger than other brands. (I wear a 9.5 Keen, but 9.0 in other brands).

Bought a pair of Austins just prior to a trip to San Fran. Put them on for the first time and tromped up and down those city hills for 7 days. I have trouble finding comfortable shoes and was skeptical of how they'd feel after a day of concrete. These shoes were totally amazing day in and day out and have gotten even better since.

They fit true to size in length, are a little wide and offer good support. I wear them for light hiking and walking around the city. I spend hours at a time on my feet on cement floors, and these shoes have caused the least fatigue.

This is my second pair of this shoe! They wear like iron! I wear them for work everyday on hard floors and my feet are happy! I would recommend Keens to any one and I bought them for all my family after wearing my first pair!

I'm a believer now. It's my fifth pair of keen shoes and all are rock solid. feels like a tennis shoe or walking shoe, looks dressy enough to pass for work. Wide toebox keeps you comfortable all day long.

I had my Autsin's for a few months when out of the blue an eyelet rivet popped and it started cutting the laces. I called Altrec and they helped me out without having to deal with Keen. They took my defective product back with no question and sent me a pre-paid shipping label. They also matched the price I initially paid (30%+ off) on a different color than what I purchased. On my previous review I mentioned that the tounge was rigid and took a day to wear in. Not sure why, but the Woodbury replacement I got was more supple than the Stone Grey I returned. Also the Stone Grey is more green than grey, but I liked it. Just needed a more business suitable color, Woodbury is awesome, picture on the site is accurate of both colors.

Good Shoe Short Laces

The shoe fit well and are comfortable without a break in. They look good and seem durable. Only complaint is the laces are short. Not to the point of being almost unusable, but annoying to tie. I will say my foot is wider than most and this probably makes the issue more noticable.

I have been wearing the Austin Shoe since the day they arrived and even ordered a second pair. When on my feet all day wearing the Austins, I do not feel the need to take them off in the evening. The toe is wide enough without needing a wide shoe,the foot bed is supportive, and they are lightweight.

I was looking for a replacement for my Keen Bronx shoes, and was hard pressed because they were the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. (and they proved to be iron-clad durable) Went with the Austin model, and I am not in the least disappointed. I am an elementary music teacher (and not the kind that parks my rear end behind the piano all day) and find myself on my feet all day walking, crawling on the floor and dancing. These shoes give me the support and comfort that I have never encountered with any other brand. Though I have found that the size runs just a smidge small, the fit is absolutely perfect - I have a fairly wide forefoot, and a narrow heel. These things have incredible arch support. All this and they look GREAT! The only question that remains is, "What kind of Keen am I going to replace these with in a couple years when they wear out, if they ever do?"

These are my 1st pair of Keens, and it certainly wont be my last. They're very comfy and very light! Also, I like their standard width which is actually a little wide (similar to New Balance trail running shoes). I got a sz. 9 which is pretty true to size.

I was so pleased with my first pair of Austin's that I bought a second pair. I spend a lot of time walking and these shoes are not only comfortable but they are durable. If you have never owned a pair of Austin shoes you will be pleased. These shoes are listed as fitting a half size larger than listed but I believe they are true to size.

Leather split after wearing the shoes for less than 2 hours

I purchased these shoes on sale from altrec...I didn't wear them right away, so when I did wear them, it was after Altrec's 30 day return policy expired. After wearing the shoes for less than 2 hours and still looking as if they had never been worn, I realized that the leather was split. Now I'm stuck with them.
