Description

From the rivers, to the beach, to the boat, the Men's Keen Newport H2 Sandal might like water more than you do. Everything about it screams for the wet stuff. The washable polyester webbing upper and hydrophobic quick dry mesh lining are treated with Aegis Microbe Shield™, an environmentally friendly anti bacterial and anti fungal treatment that will keep you and your sandals fresh and odor free. The metatomical EVA footbed and compression molded EVA midsole make for light landings as you hop on to the beach from the bow of your boat, and Keen's patented toe protect will guard against rocks and other hazards. Then there's the non-marking rubber outsole with razor siping, to prevent slips on wet surfaces, working with the multi-directional lug pattern for precise footing during your jungle adventures. Keen does find this shoe runs about ½ size small, so keep that in mind. When you know your feet will spend plenty of time in the sun, sand and water, have them spend it in the Newport H2 Sandal for men from Keen as well.

Newport H2 Sandal
December 10, 2012

What can I say, these are a great pair of sandals. I purchased my first pair in May of this year at twice the price I paid for my second pair from Altrec - we may be going into winter but I couldn't turn down this deal. Everything is great about this sandal except for protection because, well, you can only get so much protection from a water sandal. But I must say the toe guard works really well. In any event, for what these words are worth, buy a pair - you won't be disappointed

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, comfortable

June 13, 2011

My wife has been wearing KEEN footwear for several years. I tried other brands of outdoor footwear and her KEEN's always outlasted my brands. Finally she convinced me. I should have listened to her in the beginning. I really like the support and comfort. I'm hooked!

Great Hybrid Sandal
June 16, 2011

I've never been a sandal affectionado because the types of activities I engage in are too hazardous to the feet and too hard to keep most sandals on. Keen was thinking of me when they designed these sandals. They're cool to the feet but provide protection and steep climb traction. I'll wear these out, if it's possible.

Awesome!
May 14, 2011

These sandals are great. Wore them while hiking/rappelling on a recent trip to Mexico. Did quite well in rocky terrain and wet terrain. In areas of high dust small pebbles did make their way through the holes. This was slightly annoying but no big deal. The soles were rugged and stood up to all kinds of abuse.

My most comfortable shoes
January 17, 2012

This is the third pair of Keen sandals I've owned in the last six years. They wear like iron. I just wore my first pair out Nov.2011. The sandals never malfunctioned, I actually wore the soles off of them. I have worn them casually, hiking,as water shoes and even use them as shower-shoes on military bases in Afghanistan.

Pros: great toe protection, easy to get rocks and debris out of., Cons: they occasionally get rocks and debris in them.

I absolutely love these sandals. I bought them for a vacation where I was in the water, hiking, and climbing. They performed well in all aspects. The width of the sandal and the low profile helped me to feel stable while on slippery granite. The rubber toe was great for wading in the water to protect my toes and they worked well for scrambling over boulders. The nylon and neoprene took less then a day to dry, but they were quite comfortable even when wet. If there was anything negative to say it was that little pebbles/sand would, on occasion, slip into the sandals, but they were fairly easy to remove.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

What can I say! Another great product from Keen. They are the only shoe I buy now. Doesn't matter whether it's for snow, water or just toolin' around town, they make the best shoe that's comfortable right out of the box. Buy 'em you won't be sorry. And as for Altrec, they are the best!!!

Very comfortable water and all round shoe
November 06, 2011

I love these shoes. The are very comfortable and have a great arch support. The are made very well and will last a long time. I have had mine for a year and have worn them at the hot springs, the beach, and walked miles in them on pavement. No issues at all and you don't even need to break them in. They are great shoes for someone that wants to protect their feet and also have something that is comfortable.

Great sandals so far!
June 26, 2011

I have yet to really put these sandals to the test on the river, but I expect they will be great. I am pleased with the protection they provide my toes. They also are fairly wide (I have size 9), which suits me fine because I have a "bunionette" on my right foot (the distal 5th metatarsal at the MTP joint [the base of my little toe] bulges laterally: see the accompanying photo). This typically gives me problems with new footwear, but not with these Keens, I am happy to say! My friends who own Keens have complained that in the past they really stank if they were not kept clean. I have not experienced that yet, and I think Keen has tried to address this problem with new materials. We'll see.... Anyway, I am glad I bought them. I think you will be, too.

My Most Comfortable Shoe
August 06, 2011

This is my second pair of Newport H2 sandals. I bought my first pair about 5 years ago and the only thing that wore out on them were the laces, which Keen replaced free of charge. They really stand behind their product. I am 5'10", 155# and have chronic foot pain. Keen shoes and sandals are the only shoes I can wear pain-free. The Newport sandal is the most versatile and I wear them most of the time.

Mr. Flat Foot is Happy
June 28, 2012

Almost bought another sandal, then read the reviews on this one. Well, raving reviews do not always mean the product is right for you. But I ordered a pair, put them on and then promptly ordered a pair for my wife. We love them. Walked in them all around Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon. We had boots for serious hikes, but wore these sandals everywhere else. Would buy them again in a flash. Also, Mr. Flat Foot (even my new doctor was surprised when he saw how flat they were!) is very happy with the comfort and fit. (I had to abandon another expensive water sandal because they were not at all comfortable.)

Keen Newport H2 Sport Sandals
August 21, 2011

The Keen Newport H2 sandals are a dream come true. Especially for people with wide feet. This is my third pair of Keens and I love everyone of them. I have noticed that the Newport runs alittle on the smaller size, so I went up a 1/2 size from a 8.5 to a 9. One thing I love about the keens are that they fit my fat foot the minute I put them on. No break-in period for me. I love the toe protector and the easy slip on / off with quick lacing system. I live in my keens all summer and have a keen stripe tan. You can't go wrong with the Newport H2 sandal.

Comfort out of the box
June 11, 2011

I had been looking at these sandals for a while and pulled the trigger for the purchase when my size went on sale. I was satisfied with the look and quality right out of the box. When I put them on I knew they were the right choice. Within an hour of putting them on they felt like I had owned them forever and had formed to my feet......so comfortable. I wore them all day today to a college super regional baseball game (Go Gators) in 90+ degree weather. Once again sooooo comfortable. I can't wait to wear them in wet weather to see their performance then. That test will come soon enough as I purchased these to pair with my boots on a backpacking trip to the Tetons in Sept. They will be used for short day hikes and I am certain they will be perfect.

Fits like it always did, great sport shoes
April 08, 2013

I choose the size of the Keens that I was replacing, and the fit was perfect. It is the same size as the hiking boots and other shoes I wear: 11. The Keens sandals really kick butt in all matters of sport. On the sailboat, they grip like crazy and protect the feet from boat bites. Would be nice if there were more heel protection. On the beach and in the water, they do gather sand very easily, so expect to be emptying them occasionally. On a moderate hiking trail, they will get you through. They will pick up a small stone. Keeping them cinched tightly helps with this, and is important for stability on uneven ground. No ankle support of course. Over rough terrain, they will get you by but are no substitute for boots. They do get a bit "hot" temp-wise on the soles. When wet, they are a nice cooler for the feet! Takes a good couple hours in hot sunshine to dry. Overnight in humid camp, will not dry. Overnight in hotel room, almost dry. Pricing seems high, but I guess its a matter of supply and demand. I always wish the tread would last longer in shoes, but I guess to maintain the performance of the grip, they need to use the softer rubber.

Real Kickers!
January 17, 2012

These well-made, comfortable, and stylish sandals make it impossible to stub a toe, are waterproof and quick drying nylon material, and go anywhere. In fact, I intend wearing them with a pair of wool dress slacks, like high tech huaraches, so I don't have to pack a pair of dress shoes for going to dinner with a friend during my upcoming dental safari in Mexico. BTW, consider adding a full size up from your normal shoe size, as they are cut to snug close to your feet.

Comfortable, versatile water sandal
August 23, 2012

The Newport H2 is surprisingly comfortable and didn't chafe my skin at all. It offers good toe protection if you're using it around rocks or oyster bars. Though it's a water sports shoe, it's attractive enough to be worn as an everyday sandal. As others have noted, you should order a 1/2 size larger than you normally wear and it should fit fine. My only complaint is that it doesn't dry very fast for a "waterproof" shoe -- at least not when you leave it on a porch in humid Florida. Let it dry inside in the drier air conditioning or put in in the sun.

Keen Newport H2
June 28, 2012

I purchased these shoes to wear while I am on overnight canoe and kayaking trips. I needed something that was comfortable, quick drying, and could handle light hiking. These shoes came highly recommended to me by my brother-in-law and they lived up to his praises. They are extremely comfortable and even though they are a little wide for my foot they fit great. They are a little tight getting them on so I can see why people would say that they are difficult to put on when wet. Really nice sandals
June 12, 2012

I purchased these Keens after I thought I had lost my first pair of Keens. Of course, I found my first pair a couple of days after I made this purchase, but when these H2s came, I had no regrets. These are much more comfortable than my first pair that have closed heels and tend to cause blisters on my heels. I like the H2s because of their rugged soles - I feel comfortable on most surfaces. Keen is correct, these sandals do run a half size small (I'm a 9 1/2 and their 10 fit me perfectly). I also like these better than my first pair because there aren't any insoles to get sweaty. I bought the gray and "Bombay Brown," which, as the site pic shows, is more like orange. Great on walks, no rubbing or chafing. I highly recommend if you're looking for a durable waterproof sandal.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value

Was just what I needed. Used it on the Chicago to Mac sailboat race. Great traction, comfortable and dried quickly. I have a wide foot with a high arch. Width is fine, but is difficult to get on, even with the laces fully loosened. Order 1 size larger than your normal as they seem to run small. Other than having to take some time to get them on, they've been great.

Finally in Style
June 09, 2012

I am retiring the old flip flops in favor of these sporty Keen's. Kids said: "Dad, that's not your style". I now know I am finally in style...plus, these provide better arch support than my old 'flat" flip flops. Can't wait to get them to the beach.

I've had these sandals over a year, and used them for many times. my first impression was these look kinda frankensteinish but i got over that. there ok for hiking only complaint rocks get in there alot. in the water there good. Great sandall - very comfortable
January 03, 2013

I bought these just before my Christmas trip to Key West. I wore them almost the whole trip and did a lot of walking around. They were very comfortable. The only issue I had was one cooler day when I wore socks with them, the toe area did not seem "tall" enough and my big toe rubbed on the top. That night I inserted a golf ball in that area and it seems to have expanded it slightly making a perfect fit.

Close to perfect
December 11, 2011

I bought these to go hiking in Hawaii, where I knew I would be crossing shallow streams and dealing with a lot of mud and puddles. At first I was worried about the prospect of hiking in a sandal- particularly whether or not my feet would slide around- especially on declines. These fears were all dismissed when I had them out on the trail- I can say that they are without a doubt my most comfortable shoes. Once I got back from my trip I wore them during all of my summer hiking back in the US, and even just on rainy days until the temp got too low for sandals. My one gripe keeping me from giving these 5 stars is that the grip on the soles is just not enough. It's one thing to slip on river stones, but on regular wet rocks, clay, and dusty dirt surfaces, I sometimes had trouble getting grip. This led to a few tense moments while hiking on an incline a little too near the edge of Waimea canyon. That said, I still recommend them because they're just ridiculously comfortable (when I had plantar fascitis I wore them exclusively until it cleared up); just don't expect to grip as well as a good boot.

Very nice Sandal! First off fit...fit is great. I am 5'8" and 175 #. Almost always wear a 9.5 and am right on the edge of being in a "wide" shoe. These are perfect. They have a wider toe box than most other sandals and are extremely comfortable. They stay on very well even when wet. I love the extra protection over the toes. The construction seems very good, I hope the durability is as good as the looks! So far very pleased!

I've had several pair of Keen sandals over the years and I still keep coming back for more...they're the best I've found out there!!! Most comfortable and wear very well! Everything you will ever need in a sandal
April 21, 2011

I spend a lot of my summer constantly in and out of the water for both work and fun. On the trail, on the bike, in the canoe, camping, or just hanging around, the Keen Newport H2 is the top sandal for everything you would ever want. And nice enough for casual Friday's in the office, to boot! The sandal stays secure and keeps your foot stable in all conditions (think wet rocks, beach football, etc), easy to get in and out of, and has ample room without feeling overly clunky. If you have wide feet like I do, you will love them even more. I used to be a Teva fan (10 years ago), but the extra toe protection and unbelievable comfort of the Keens has made me a convert. My daughter calls me "tiger feet" because of the permanent tan stripes that have resulted from wearing them. I can get about 5 or 6 months of everyday-action out of a pair, then the foot bed seems to "break down" a bit too much and becomes uncomfortable (I pronate like a duck). When the temps dip below 60, I simply toss on a pair of light wool socks and get another month of Keen-wearing. Yes they're a little pricey for a shoe you can see through, but if you value comfort, durability, and functionality, buy these sandals without a second thought.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost

Love these! Before moving to India I bought a pair on a whim thinking they'd be my alternate footware, however, in the end I wore them everyday. On top of wearing them everywhere I also trekked the Annapurna's in Nepal, and hiked throughout Costa Rica and Baja, Mexico. After 2 years of abuse I decided my original pair had seen better days and replaced them with another. I'm back in Baja now and don't imagine they'll disappoint. When I bought my replacement I had worn through the indicating size and guessed. Altrec.com was great with swapping it for the correct size when I got it wrong.

Pros: everyday use., hiking., water activites., great wear., comfort., toe protection., Cons: extended use without socks = stinky feet!

Took these with me on my trip to Alaska as my do just about everything shoe (driving, walking, tide pooling, hiking etc). My newport h2s arrived about a week ago and I think they are a great product. They are a perfect fit and were comfortable right out of the box - no break in period needed. They've already served me well in the great outdoors....strongly recommended and definitely worth the money. One thing to keep in mind...I normally wear a 10.5 or 11, but after trying them on in a store I went with 11.5. In other words I would order a little above your normal size for a good fit.

Keen Newport H20's
July 22, 2011

I received these shoes and took them on a 30-mile AT hike in North Carolina. They are well designed as hiking sandals. The terrain was rough and they offered better protection that either Tevas or Chacos. They did stretch a bit when wet, so it may be wise to consider a half size smaller than usual. Most disturbing, the outer stitching came undone on both shoes. I intend to exchange these for another pair to see whether this problem was an anomaly or is a serious defect. If the latter is the case, then these shoes are NOT suited for serious, sustained outdoor activity in rough terrain, and I will go back to using trail runners.

Solid sandal but not for me
December 08, 2012

The Keen sandal is a great piece of footwear- let me say this isn't a bashing of this shoe. The problem is that the webbing ribs on the outside of the sandal coincide just imperfectly with my little toes and when wearing for a week or more (which I have done a few times) catches the small toenail unless clipped to an absolute nubbin (when was the last time you saw THAT word). I have unfortunately had to switch sandals because otherwise i love em. They are a little heavier than most which is mostly good- they are tough, durable and protective. It also means in a hot/humid environment (say, Brazil), it is tough to get them to dry out, producing some inhuman smells at times- but they are also easy to wash. So there you go. Try a pair on and see if the little toe area is just at the wrong place. If not- you're golden!

I have owned several pair of the Keen Newport H2 sandal. What I like most about them is the comfort. They fit my foot well and have a generous amount of cushion in the sole. The Keen Newport H2 have a large toe box which may be why I find them so comfortable. My normal shoe size fits me best in the Keen Newport H2, they are true to size. The outsole of the sandal is durable, I have worn out the insole and uppers of this sandal but not the outsole. The cinch on the elastic cord lace failed on one sandal after about a year and a half. The lace on this shoe would not stay tight because the the lace would slip through one side of the cinch. Overall I think these are excellent sandals.
