Most comfortable hiking boots I've ever bought!
January 04, 2011

My wife bought me these boots for Christmas after weeks of researching about every hiking boot on the internet. Nervously, we decided to buy these boots, even though neither us have ever worn Keens. The boots arrived and they are awesome! I'm a 6'0 220 lbs man with back pain, my back hasn't hurt at all while wearing these. I love the high, stiff ankle support so I don't roll my ankles while hiking in the woods. The shoes are definitely waterproof, as I used them our first snow of the year and in the muddy, slushy puddles after the snow melted. I also chose this boot because of the dark shadow/yellow color combination, I was so tired of having to buy brown or tan hiking shoes/boots, bravo to Keen for finally offering a choice. At our family dinner, I noticed that my mother, mother in law and friend of the family (a worldwide traveler-8 countries total) all wore Keens, each of them gushed about no break in period, overall comfortable and durability. I knew I had made the right choice based on their opinions and after wearing them, it is confirmed.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, no break in period, Cons: Cost

Great Boot!
January 16, 2011

I've been wearing Keens for several years and these boots are alos comfortable, have excellent traction, maybe a tad warm for the Arizona desert but for the price - I was sold. Normally wear a 11.5 to 12 - ordered these in a 12 a couldn't be happier with the fit. Plenty of toe room and ankle support. Too early to tell how they will hold up to the rigors of long hiking and backpacking trips.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Great value

Keen Oregon PCT
November 27, 2010

Initial impression of these boots was great. Pretty comfortable right out of the box. Incredible traction on rocky desert hills. I have only worn the boots for three days, but they seem to be breaking in nicely. They seem like they will be waterproof and very durable. I was a little nervous about the aesthetics of the design (i knew my wife would call me out on their clunky appearance), but apparently my wife likes them since she wants me to order her a pair. And I would recommend the same to anyone else.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

GREAT boots
April 23, 2010

I originally bought these in a 12 but they were just a bit too small. I wear a 12 in the other 5 pairs of Keen shoes that I own. In my opinion, order a 1/2 size up. There was no 12.5 so I tried a 13 & they fit pretty well. Very comfortable out of the box & will hopefully still be as soon as I can get them on a trail. As a big Keen fan I'd recommend them highly & ALTREC customer service made the return/ exchange easy!

Great Boot
November 04, 2012

Great Boot. Right out of the box and didn't hurt my feet. I some light hiking in the Alps for a week and held up very nice, no wear or tear. I did stick my foot in a stream and my foot got wet, so i'm not sure on the waterproof, but I will give it another try once I have broken them in more. I did follow one reviewers recommendation and went for a size up so got a size 9.5 and it was perfect. I usually wear a 8 in sandals or 8.5 in shoe.

The Keen folks have done hiking proud. These oregon boots are just right. I could walk trails in them all day, and sleep in them at night. If it were not for Keen, my feet would be warped. Thanks Keen

Not bad, but not in with the elite boots.
February 06, 2011

I had wanted a pair of these for a while because I love all of my other keen shoes (newports and casuals). I have been wearing the Salomon Quest for about a year and bought these because they were clearance and I wanted to know how the felt. First, the boots look great. Second, these boots are very comfortable. Now on to the important things....I stood in 4 inch water and no leaks, roomy toe box, and they fit snug around the ankle. After these props, I am a little less thrilled. I felt that the boots were loose around the mid-sole (maybe because I have a narrow foot). Biggest problem, however, is that when I step on a jutting rock or root I do not feel like I am in control, and I have lost balance (but not fallen) several times. Maybe these soles are just a bit too chunky and they made me feel clumsy. Great boots are almost an extension of the foot. I will wear these around town and on relatively flat hikes for comfort, but these boots clearly are as I suspected in a class below the Salomon Quest.

Great Hiking Boots
July 19, 2011

These are great hiking boots. Very comfortable out of the box. Even more so after getting wet and wearing a few times on the trail. A bit heavy but very supportive boots. These boots fit my need perfectly! Altrec is a great place to shop. Delivered quickly as promised. I am a fan!

excellent Shoes
November 09, 2010

This is my first pair of shoes from Keen. The uncertainties did caused some anxieties. This is the conclusion now. The shoes look better than the pictures shown in the web site. They felt heavier than my expectation. Overall, it is extremely comfortable for walking mainly because of the excellent cushion. I am of the view that this is a prescient purchase.

fit right out of the box
October 16, 2009

I loved my Keen Targhee II boots so much that I decided to try these. They fit like a glove right out of the box and though I haven't done any major hikes yet, I love the stiffer feel of these compared to the Targhee - - - can't wait to put them thru the motions of a REAL hike!!!

very good
May 01, 2011

I am thoroughly impressed with them, much sturdier than the Targhee 2 mids(which I loved, just not durable enough for the type of abuse I put them through). I probably have put a solid 70-80 miles on them already with not a single issue, and the break-in period was next to nothing(a common trend amongst Keens). Very happy with this boot so far!

A truly great boot for wide feet
August 18, 2009

I have EE to EEE sized feet. Finding shoes that fit usually meant New Balance only. These Keen boots fit my feet perfectly. They took only a few days for the fit to feel like they were made for my foot. Nice and light, and the water proofing will come in handy on my back packing hike up Mt Adams in NH.

Nice/well crafted Boot/Hiker
April 05, 2010

This is not your typical "KEEN" width, I ordered a 1/2 size larger than usual. the width was narrow and it was a bit longer in length(makes sense right)....So, i had to return it. I have many, many pairs of KEEN shoes.

Couldn't be happier
November 11, 2009

I'm 61 years old and this is the first pair of boots I've not had to "break in". I hiked on day one, then purchased another pair. Since my first pair of KEEN shoes a few years ago, I have never been disappointed! Buy these boots - you won't be sorry.

August 30, 2011

Comfortable out of the box. Bought them 1/2 size up my normal shoes and they fit perfect. Quality and durability seems to be as good as expected from Keen. Till now, my feet never got sore. I recommend these boots.

Pros: quality, durability, light, Cons: perhaps too soft

exellent boot!
June 16, 2010

I have been hiking for thirty years. I always bought Euro.boots thinking I was was getting the best. I was wrong! The PCT is the most comfortable boot I have ever worn.Plus if you have messed up feet like I do (bunions) these are the ticket! Wide footbed and tight around the ankles (I have rubber ankles) All I can say is bravo! And also to Altrec for the best service and instant shipping! Thanks

Keen Men's Oregon PCT Hiking Boot, superb.
March 24, 2009

I am a carpenter and wear these boots for work. Very sturdy and comfortable. There is plenty of room in the toe box to accommodate a bunion without having to get them stretched. I do find that Keens fit better at one half size larger than is usual. Unlike other Keen models these wanted a little breaking-in.

Over the long haul the shoes did not hold up
December 01, 2010

For the first year and a half that I had these shoes I thought they were the best I had ever owned. The toe box is roomy and very comfortable. The shoes over all were very comfortable and surprisingly much lighter than they looked. The cork inlay in the heal is no doubt one of the reasons. The shoes also gave good all round foot protection. The shoes also seemed to be particularly rugged, the soles did not grip as well as my Asolo Fugitives but on the flip side they wore better and have shown long life. The shoes were worn almost exclusively in the White Mountains NH which granted is very rugged territory rock wise and so forth. Anyway after a year and a half the patented straps around the heal both broke no doubt from rubbing on the rocks. I definitely would never buy a pair of Keens with those straps again. Also the heels which appeared to have a rubber overlay turned out to be a rubber cup welded to the leather. The weld on the right shoe broke. I first noticed it when I walked through a shallow puddle and my foot got wet. So much for the Keen proprietary membrane. As for keeping your feet dry even when new the shoes kept my feet dry in wet weather for about an hour then they would get soaked. I have had many pairs of shoes with a Goretex lining and I've never had a pair that worked for any more than an hour anyway so I would consider these to be about average. The first year an a half I would have given these shoes a five star rating. I now can only rate them as a two or three.

Perfect fit for a broken toe......
April 20, 2009

The toe box on these is HUGE, which was exactly what I needed for some hiking in the Carolinas. I went 1/2 size up as other reviewers noted. They are incredibly comfortable. They didn't seem as sturdy when I was climbing rocks, but overall, a very good boot......

Can't Get Any Better
February 22, 2010

Great look, great comfort - warm and waterproof. Third pair - still can't believe they are so comfortable right out of the box.

Support and Comfortable
May 29, 2010

I really liked these boots. I found them comfortable right out of the box with a lot of ankle support which would do well for backpacking. Only downside was that right boot leaked but Altrec exchanged them with no additional cost to me.

Keen Oregon PCT
October 08, 2010

These are great boots. And I know boots. But these are coming back. In the last two years I've 'outgrown' a pair of Scarpa Kailash and Kayland Vertigo Lights. Both incredible both are unavailable in a size that fit me. I was really hoping the Keen's would fit as Steph LOVES hers. Granted these are not Scarpa's or Kayland's but they would have been a huge blessing for me if thay'd have fit. They are solid, and feel substantial in all the right spots. The sole wasn't a Vibram but seemed to be well made. I'm going custom so y'all wish me luck on the sale of my kidney to pay for them......

Pros: Great value

durable comfort
April 07, 2010

Since this is Keen's top end boot, I had high expectations. I use the boot while riding a motor bike. I can't hike due to neuropathy(my fault) and usually change footwear 3 or 4 times daily. In addition to providing protection they have exceeded the comfort I expected. Thus far these boots feel as comfortable when I remove them as when I put them on. They are only removed for drying, excellent. Tell Keen to sell their insoles as they are a bit different

jury still out
December 22, 2010

the jury is still out on these boots. These boots are very comfy right outta the box. Excellent room in the toe area which was my main reason for looking at them and trying them on. Virtually no breakin time and no blisters or hot spots. My hiking is in the AZ deserts, excellent traction on the rock and sandy trails. They dont breath very well so sock liners are a must! But since I have only hiked about 25 miles on them and one area of stiching has already broke I am worried about the durability of these boots. I guess only time will tell if they were a good purchase . So like I said "The jury is still out"

Pros: Performance, comfort, looks, Cons: Poor quality

I fell ice climbing many years ago and have a very week left ankle.. I have tried almost every high end boot available, I went and saw a gait analyst, she put me in almost every boot in the store and after much trial and error came down to the Keen... I was not able to hike comfortably at all, any uneven terrain my ankle would roll.. Keen shoes and boots with the Metatomical footbeds are incredible.. If anyone has ankle stabilization problems try Keens. I can now hike whatever I want.. so happy

Keen love.
January 30, 2011

These are my 7th pair of Keen shoes and they are as well-built and good looking as the rest. I've only had them a couple of weeks, but they are without question the most comfortable hiking boots I've owned. Stiff at first, they loosen up quickly. Heel seats nicely. Plenty of room in the toe box. The heel strap tensioner thing seems gimmicky but might prove useful once the boots fully break in. Stylish enough and light enough to use as daily wear shoes around town. Looking forward to many miles with these.

Impressions
October 27, 2009

Out of the box I was quite pleased with the look and feel of the KEEN Men's Oregon PCT Hiking boots. After trying them on for the first time with a medium weight SmartWool sock, I was pleased with the snugness, comfort and apparent quality of the boot. The boot is solid and sturdy with excellent traction and I felt secure in the boot. The wear on the boots so far after two weeks of hiking with a 40-pound backpack 4 to 5 miles everyday is hardly noticeable. They are comfortable right out of the box. The boots seem to be waterproof in the couple rainstorms I have walked in, well built (with plenty of room in the toe box), and has enough ventilation to use in summer, but will they be warm enough to wear in winter? I see no reason to dock any stars from a five star rating from what I have experienced so far with these boots. Note to the wise: If purchasing off the Internet, talk to the experts and you should buy one size larger that you ware in your street shoes. On another note Altrec.com was great, expert advice, ease of web pages, easy checkout, and quick shipping.

Keen does it again for me. They must have realized that toes do not have to be squished into a small space. I wore my new PCT boots on a hike right away. 6 miles and not a problem at all. I look forward to many years of use out of these great boots. Thanks. bob

Have been walking around in these for a couple days now & I have to say these are really comfortable. The fit is perfect for my feet, and they provide excellent stability. Loved the boots at first.....
July 22, 2010

I am ranking these boots low for one reason.... durability. These boots performed great for a while but eventually the sole separated from the boot. Of course this happened after the year replacement policy. I would have bought another pair, as I love the fit, but I'd like a boot to last a bit longer than a year.

Pleased Overall
October 30, 2010

I'm an athletic 55 year old fly fisherman, trekker, skier, backpacker ( 5'9" + 175 lbs.). I have been sold on KEEN shoes, sandals, etc. for years. I took the plunge on some "serious" KEENS when I replaced my worn Vasque hiking boots with the Oregon PCT. As I expected, comfort was exceptional right out of the box. My only reservations are anticipated longevity (durability). After some serious hiking in the PCTs I've sensed a loss of stiffness in the soles....I'm not convinced KEEN has yet reached the rarified air of the most serious boot makers. But, for comfort alone, I will be prepared to replace the PCTs with another pair of KEENs!

Pros: comfort!, great fit!, Cons: durability?

great boots out of the box. I did order mine to large. I saw that several of the reviews recommended going up a half size. That recommendation may have been from general boots but Keen already runs small so bumping me up from my normal size in keen was to big. All my keens run small so carrying over my same satisfaction in keen sizing to the Oregon would have been best for me. Thanks Altec for the service on the return.
