Bad lacing hardware
January 19, 2011
I had these boots for about 10 minutes before they broke. I was adjusting the lacing to get a proper fit when one of the plastic clips at the top of the boot snapped off completely. I had high hopes for these boots, which are otherwise very comfortable, but this design flaw (using plastic for a high-stress part) is a disappointing killer for these boots. I'm going to look for a pair of boots with a better lacing system.Cons: Bad design, Poor quality
February 18, 2011
These boots are good winter boot. Bought these boots for work and to snowshoe, so far no complaints, alittle wide near the ball of my foot but well cushioned though out. Waterproof comfortable, and warm, what else do you need in a winter boot.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
March 13, 2011
I have bought two pairs of these. One for my husband and one for my stepson. We are getting ready to take them to Jackson Hole, WY in March. Mt husband and his son will take them to Canada in May for fishing. My husband's son is a cancer survivor and with many years of chemo he has poor circulation in his feet that cause his feet to become cold very fast. He loves these boots. He has worn them in 3 below weather with wool socks and never got cold. They are wide in the toe area and my husband loves that. The ball of the foot even has extra support. I wish they had these in women's.
Lightweight and Warm
May 02, 2011
I recently wore these boots on camping/hiking trip. These lightweight boots were great for the long hike up the mountain to camp. The waterproofing and insulation of the boots worked flawlessly pushing through the still present 12" of wet snow. Keen once again delivers on lightweight, durable, waterproof and warm boots.Pros: lightweight, waterproof, great ankle/arch support
Great so far...
December 26, 2009
I highly recommend these boots. They keep my feet nice and warm and provide exceptional support. They are very sturdy, but they don't make my feet feel too big or clunky. Overall, a great boot.
November 12, 2010
I bought these for my husband for deer hunting in Northern Minnesota. They are very comfotable for him wearing all day hunting. These boots are great because they fit like a shoe, but are warm like a boot! He plans to weart them ice fishing & snowmobiling this winter. Thanks Altrec for selling such great quality products at such appealing prices!Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
We have a winner!
January 14, 2011
I bought these as a gift to my husband because he needed some better winter shoes for our snowy adventures. He LOVES them. I ordered a half size too big for him, but he says that they are perfect since he would rather wear thick socks with them. So with normal socks, they are true to size. When they arrived he couldn't wait to try them on and go run around in the snow. They arrived just in time for our 4-wheeling adventure and it was AWESOME! His feet stayed warm and dry the entire time. He says that I should wear them before we got to bed so I don't have icey toes anymore Har har! :p Hearing my husband talk about what a great boot they are, makes me want to get some. I will definitely be shopping for some keen boots myself. We just love the Keen brand. They have the best products and quality available. Would def. recommend this to anyone look for a good solid winter boot.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Passed snowboots test
January 23, 2011
I just got the boots before my long weekend trip. I am very pleased for buying the boots and was not disappointed at all. Tried first day snowplaying in half deep snow, second day snowmobiling, and last day snowshoeing. All those time did not get the wet feeling in my feet. It keep my feet dry and warm using a single wool socks. My feet size is 8.5 but ordered the 9.5 according to my last visit to the store for shoe fitting. It turns out to be the correct size and fits well with a thick socks. The shoes was also very light. I went for 6 miles of snowshoeing and did not feel any weight stress on my legs even with my snowshoes. This is a boots that I will be using for my next fishing trip. I know it will keep my feet dry, comfortable, and makes my feet very happy. Good job Keen!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
February 07, 2009
Standing on ice and snow for long periods, these boots kept my feet warm and insulated. The soles are sure gripping on the slickest surfaces. Shoe runs about a half-size too small, so be sure to up size. Of course, Altrec provides all this at a great value too!
Purchased for my son
January 13, 2009
I purchased these boots for my son. He spent his Christmas break shoveling snow off of roofs in them and said they were warm, dry and had great traction, even on tin, ice covered buildings!
January 28, 2011
I bought these boots since I own other Keen products and have been impressed by Keen's workmanship and quality of design. These boots have been warm in single digit weather, and the wide tread gives me the traction of a bear's paw when I'm walking in snow, fresh or packed. The traction is better on ice than I thought it might be. The lacing at the top of the boot takes a little getting used to, but otherwise I'm pleased with my purchase. While I wouldn't try much backpacking with these boots, they offer plenty of ankle support for other winter activities.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
Best Purchase Ever
August 03, 2013
These boots are rockin' my world. They are light, get great traction and the boot creases in all the right spots. Highly recomended!Pros: weight, Cons: no cons
March 01, 2010
Nice and warm. very comfortable
great winter hikers
January 15, 2009
I work for the electric company reading meters, and these boots stand up to the test for comfort and warmth. In the heavy snow and freezing temperatures winters of the U.P. of Michigan, these boots definitely handle the conditions.
December 28, 2009
Boots were great in the snow. Kept my feet warm, including my toes but you do have to be constantly moving or else your toes will go cold.
Great Boots for the deep snow
December 28, 2009
I purchased these boots and received them about a week before the Christmas Blizzard struck Kansas. I wore them for the first time on a two mile hike with my two dogs, as promised they kept my feet warm and dry, and for a first wearing they were very comfortable. I did purchase a half size larger as other reviewers suggested and I believe they were totally correct. I was able to wear a mid to heavy sock. These are a great pair of snow boots and I would recommend them to everyone.
Well Played Mr. Keen
August 28, 2012
excellent purchase. best boots so far. flexible/comfortable to where 12 hr hike right out of box. in 2 hrs fit like mocassins. traction good. 1/2 size up for me too
December 22, 2011
I am normally a fan of Keen products. I was disappointed with the Summit boots and had to return them. The material on the top of the toe box was wrinkled in the left boot and bubbled on the right boot. If it was just one of the boots I would have ordered a new pair but now I'm reluctant to buy them on line without being able to check for this problem.
Great boot for the money
December 22, 2011
After wearing these boots for a few days, I realized they were as comfortable to wear as athletic shoes. The boots have plenty of cushion and great support. The boots appear to be made high quality materials and the workmanship is top notch.
Great boot, a little slippery on ice
January 04, 2011
Excellent boot, although slippery on ice. Very warm with mid and heavyweight socks to 10 degrees and light activity. Waterproof through rain, snow and slush. Got me thru two weeks in Moscow's winter. Very comfortable right out of the box. Easy in/out. Laces are already breaking down, but not a big negative. Solid construction; cannot comment on durability; haven't had them long enough. Wide toe box fits comfortably a relatively wide foot. Extra toe insulation does a great job where needed. Rubber toe great for kicking around. Would have liked the tongue to travel in one piece with no non-waterproof gap higher. At its present level it only waterproofs foot up to ankle. Thick tongue gets bunched up, but breaks in okay. SLIPPERY on ICE. Worst ice storm in thirty years, though, and not experienced on icy surfaces. Fine on wet concrete, etc. That said, will buy again. Thanks to Altrec for 100% guarantee.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: slippery on ice
February 12, 2011
For snowshoeing and weekend warrior work in the woods, this boot is doing the job. Should last many years. Right up there with quality you expect from Keen.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
December 29, 2010
Love these boots! Got them for Christmas and they turned out to be my favorite. Wore them snowshoeing in Lake Tahoe and the performed flawlessly. Classic Keen fit with a wide toe box, but no heel slippage. Feet stayed warm and dry and felt great at the end of the day. Highly recommended.
Men's Summit County Boot
November 14, 2010
Wore them snowshoeing in Lake Tahoe and the performed flawlessly. Classic Keen fit with a wide toe box, but no heel slippage. Feet stayed warm and dry and felt great at the end of the day. Highly recommended
January 14, 2011
The boots are so close to being great that I had to recommend them as they may work for someone else. They fit perfectly, look great, and I think they would be warm, but the tongue is substantial and rubs against my shin. You can feel the hard edges making them uncomfortable.Pros: Performance, looks, Cons: Bad design
December 22, 2009
I finally got to wear these boots in initially a really cold snowy day and then it warmed up and became very slushy. That night it began to sleight and ice up. The entire time these boots kept my feet more then adequately warm. They are pretty comfortable and have amazing grip in all conditions. I would definitely recommend this boot to anyone looking for an all around winter boot.
nice boot but needs some redesign
December 23, 2008
very comfortable from the ankle down but not enough forward lean built in to the design of the upper boot causing friction and rubbing on seams above ankle when walking for extended periods.
From Sandals to Snow Boots...ALWAYS AMAZING!
December 19, 2009
These boots are phenomenal and I really enjoy how warm my feet get when standing around in snow all day long. A real plus is that the boots are primarily leather and it holds up really well in Midwest snow conditions!!
excellant boot warm and light drys out fast another winner!
January 19, 2010
I had been looking for a light but warm pair of boots all winter and saw the Summit Country boot and thought I would give it a try.I knew if it was like any of the other Keen shoes I've had I couldn't go wrong. Behold these are the greatest winter boots
Exactly what was expected
January 10, 2012
These boots are exactly what I expected after reviewing the previous reviews. With a large sock, a 1/2 size up is perfect. Ordering your normal size shoe for this boot would have been a mistake for me. There is a breaking in period. On my right ankle, where the top met the bottom section of the shoe met, it would bend in as it broke in and press into the area just above my ankle. After 3 days of wearing them, the leather is broken in and the hot spot is gone. These boots are warm. Like almost sweaty feet warm. Your socks have plenty of space to puff out and do their job. I'm wearing these with Smart Wool super thick hiking socks...the thickest they make. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase.Pros: lightweight, super warm, roomy fit 1/2 size up, Cons: break in period
1st Time Keen'er
December 19, 2010
Recently purchased my first set of Keen boots. After reading many reviews and talking to several people at work who own Keen shoes and boots, I knew I couldn't go wrong. I was correct and so was everyone else. These boots are great. They are very warm (without sweating) and very comfortable to walk in. The boot runs a little short (which is typical of Keen products) so you will have to go a half-size to a full size up. I normally wear a 11.5 but purchased a 12 which is perfect depending on the sock(s) you wear. The boot is a little stiff but it is new and I know it will eventually break-in after some normal wearing like all shoes and boots do. I am definitely going to purchase more Keen products.Pros: Build quality
Bear Hunting Comfort
December 12, 2010
I wore these boots while on a bear hunting trip in West-Central Pennsylvania during the bitter cold. The boots withstood brutal abuse while bushwhacking through mountain laurel that was so thick at times I had to crawl. The leather of the boots became pretty scarred up, but they maintained their waterproofness! Temperatures dipped to 20 degrees (and snow) and my feet stayed warm with the 200 grams of insulation and the heat shield within the sole. I wear a size 9.5 shoe (average width foot) and the boots were 9.5 in size. The boots fit was very wide on my foot. I felt as if my feet slid around inside the boot. The boots felt very bulky and did not flex well at the forefoot. I could have used a size 9. The boots performed well, but I would have appreciated a bitter fit without the bulk!Pros: Build quality, Great value, Cons: Low performance
December 08, 2010
I've only had these boots for a couple weeks but I'm definitely not disappointed. It's been snowing like crazy in NY so I've had the chance to put them to the test. Warm, comfortable, waterproof, and slick looking. I would highly recommend these boots, especially at the price I paid.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Overall it is a great pair of boots
January 25, 2011
I love these boots. They look cool. They are comfortable, water proof, and they keep you warm. They run a little wide which is just fine by me. My feet run wide and normally I have to get 1-2 size larger boots so I can get in them. With these, I didn't have to do that. The only issue I see with these boots are that they are a little (maybe more than a little) slippery on ice.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: poor performance on ice
December 19, 2008
I've tested these boots for warmth and sloshing around in wet Chicago snow banks. My feet stay dry and warm. I can't say that for other boots I've tried. Very surprised to find the same company who makes sandals make snow boots as well. Very impressed.
Great Winter Boots
March 22, 2011
Bought these for my husband for Christmas and he LOVES them because they are very comfortable and super warm. We had a big snowstorm this winter-2ft- and he spent hours outside snowblowing and shoveling and his feet never got wet or cold. We did size up a half size based on ther recommendations. They look sporty and are very sturdy.Pros: comfort and warmth, Cons: none
Great Boot - Runs Short!
November 20, 2010
Great boot! comfy, warm, durable. But Keens run small, maybe it's the cost for that big toe they're famous for, but watch out. These run 1/2-1 size too short.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use
December 31, 2009
I purchased these boots for myself after doing a lot of shopping around for a good pair of winter boots. I have really wide feet, and it's tough to find a pair of boots that is comfortable for all day wear-until I found these Keens. I normally wear a 10.5 EE, and I ordered an 11 in these boots. They fit great and have kept my feet warm and dry in all of my snowy adventures. I would highly recommend these to anyone in search of a fantastic pair of winter boots.
Awesome Pair of Boots
January 29, 2012
Love this boots, they are very light and look very durable! Can't wait to use them out in the snow and will definitely recommend for anyone looking for a strong yet light pair of boots!
Keen Summit County boots
October 23, 2012
Recently purchased the Keen Summit boots, so I would have a good pair of snow boots to tool around in this Winter. Alhtough, I have not been able to test them in the snow, they seem to be outstanding cold weather boots. Furthermore, they fit well and are very compfortable to wear around. Am very excited to try them out in the next couple of months. Great deal for me!Pros: good looking sturdy boots!
April 20, 2010
These are very comfortable boots, ideal weight and sized correctly. The material is strong, the sole has good grip that prevents slipping easily ... I recommend these boots 100%, the padding makes it feel walking through the air ...
A boot to remember...
December 19, 2009
I've had these boots for not too long but I've tested them in some -15 degree temps while hiking through some ice covered snow and I was really impressed!! My toes were toasty warm and the leather plus that wonderful rubber covered toe box held up really well against that ice covered ice. This is definitely a good boot and I'm very impressed with KEEN design!
best boot ever!!!!
October 30, 2010
It looks like I'm the first to comment on the summits this winter season, i didn't have them last year so these are completely new to me. All I can say is amazing; comfortable, warm and easy to walk in. I can wear these all day, can't wait till first blizzard in Nebraska to try them out. As far as size goes it seems like very true to fit. i usually wear a 9-9.5 and a 9 fit just right. Either way you won't be sorry with these boots. regards, Husker fanPros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, warm breathable
March 03, 2011
I'm very happy with the boot thus far. I have spent several hours outside in these boots and found them to be very warm and comfortable at temperatures around 15 degrees. With a pair of wool socks, my feet stayed dry and comfy. This rating could easily change to five stars if I get a chance to test them at colder temps or on a winter camping trip.
March 18, 2013
Very happy with the boots, only wish I would have had them last weekend on the Appalachian Trail when I was in 3-4 foot drifts of snow. Shipment was delivered on time.
Tough and Warm
March 08, 2013
I purchased these boots more than one year ago, and since I have used them in a variety of cold environments, and they have performed well. There is decent padding to help keep you warm, the exterior is tough and holding up well, and they are very comfortable. They may run slightly large: I usually take a 9 and the size 9 in this boot leaves a little extra room. However, I have put steel inner soles into them since I have used them on a construction site, and I usually wear moderately heavy winter socks, so this took up all the extra room. I have had no quality problems since I have had them and am happy I bought them.
March 12, 2011
These boots are excellent. I have walked to work in 0 degree weather with my feet being warm and toasty. The loose top prevents sore mid-calves, although I have experience minor chafing from time to time. However, they are still comfortable and I would recommend them to anyone. Another bonus is that everyone will compliment on your awesome boots.Pros: warm, comfortable, look good, Cons: light chafing can occur
Keen Summit County Boots
January 22, 2012
Just received my Keen Summit County Boots. Ordered them a 1/2 size larger as recommended, so they fit perfectly right out of the box. Comfortable to wear, very light-weight, almost like wearing slippers. Can't wait to get them into the snow, to see how they perform.Pros: fit great right out of the box
August 06, 2011
Bought these boots in preparation for a Christmas trip to Moscow where I would be spending quite a bit of time walking around in deep snow and slush with temperatures below zero. These boots fit the bill excellently. Extra warmth in the toes meant that my feet didn't get overheated, but had insulation where needed most. No issues whatsoever with cold feet. Waterproof, period. Fit was extremely comfortable right out of the box, and only got better after wearing. In-and-out was easy, pull-up loop was handy, secure and well supported once laced up. True to size for 13s. Only drawback to the boots that I had was that the traction on pure ice, slippery as it can be, was not what I had hoped for. All in all, very happy with my purchase.Pros: comfortable right out of the box, warm, waterproof, accurate sizing, Cons: slippery on ice
November 18, 2010
I was looking for a winter Keen boot because I can't wear my Keen sandles in the snow. These feel great and have the same footbed as the sandle.Pros: Great design, Build quality
January 09, 2010
