Keen Men's Targhee II Shoe
While the most important characteristic in Keen's Targhee II trail running shoe is the stability, the innovative breathable comfort steals the show when you're on the go. Unlike other trail running shoe manufacturers who opt for using the same waterproof membranes found on practically every running shoe on the market, Keen took a route less traveled and used a new eVENT® membrane fabric with Dry System Technology for better breathable comfort in wet weather. The difference is one that you can feel--most waterproof/breathable technologies require that perspiration condenses to moisture before it can pass through the membrane. eVENT® membrane fabric allows sweat to pass through in vapor form, so your feet don't feel soaked in sweat like you would in other weatherproof trail running shoes. Besides the dry socks, the Targhee II is exceptionally stable. In the heel you'll find Keen's S3 heel support structure, a special shock-absorbing design that's engineered to support your foot on impact, minimizing your chances of twisting an ankle on rolling terrain. I've had my share of problems with hiking boots and shoes in the past. I usually wear them around the house before going on any long jonts. But with the Keen's I wore them 3 days after receiving shipment on a 6.2 mile Volksmarch to the top of Crazy Horse Memorial Mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Great comfort and I highly recommend these to anyone. I got a half size larger than I normally wear, and I strongly recommend doing so.

These are a really great pair of shoes. They are comfortable and airy. Take note of this: I got half a size bigger than what I usually wear (as suggested by several reviews), but they were too big for me.

This is my third pair of Targee's. Great shoe,offers much more support than sneakers for everyday use and has a large toe box which works out well for me as I have wide feet.Keen dry works well also.They initally feel a little stiff which caused some heel slippage but they break in rapidly and that resolves itself.

I'm a nurse and work on my feet 10-12 hours a day and needed a pair of shoes that didn't make my feet ache at the end of the day. I also underpronate and have plantar fasciitis, and since my other Keen shoes work really well, I thought I'd try these shoes. I am SO glad I did. I feel like I'm walking on pillows and no aching feet when I get home! The only 'bad' part is my feet get pretty hot, but they still feel great! They are very worth it...thanks Keen and Altrec for sending these great shoes right away!!!

These are my 4th pair. I use them for my job in construction - comfortable and great for mornings with wet grass. They dont last as long as boots as the fronts start to separate from the rest of the shoe after 6 months, but I think that's any shoe when it gets hard use.

I like the wear of the Targhee and Voyager. The Targhee doesn't breath as well but provides more protection. I recommend these shoes to anyone doing serious outdoor activities.

I wear this shoe every day for work. As I am on my feet all day these proved to be the answer for tired sore feet. Great stability, arch and heel support. I love the comfort of this shoe. I am a high school science teacher and am on my feet all day. After wearing these shoes all day, my feet felt great! They work great in class and for a casual night out as well as on the trail. On the trail they are sturdy, grip well and feel like the extension of my foot they should be. I am a 10.5 in my New Balance runners. I go with the wide foot model. The Targhee II size I bought was an 11.5. So, if you have a wide foot, size up.

Awesome fit, large toe box, lots of space for toes, easy on, easy off, once you get past the look they are AMAZING, typical chunky look from KEEN. reflective material great for visibility at dusk, waterproof holds up great, not much ankle support though. Round laces loosen frequently, great traction on wet/icy surfaces. Fairly breathable, won't stink much after full day in them.

Possibly the most comfortable shoe in my 60 years of climbing and walking, alas they are totally worn out in just 9 months of urban hill walking keeping fit with 5 days per week and an average of 7 km pr day
which in my calculations is approx. 1260 km which equates to nearly 16 c pr km. I can run my SUV for the same price!

I just bought my first pair of Targhee II low cuts after having good luck with my pair of Targhee II high tops. My normal shoe size is a 10, but my high tops were a 10.5 -- and were still a bit snug if I wanted to wear thick socks, but nothing I dwelled. For my low cuts, I decided to try an 11 and really like them much better. I need a bit of room. I have a pair of Keen Austins that are a 10. Pretty difficult for me to predict Keen sizes, and that makes it tough when I'm trying to order online.

I walk approximately 1.5 miles on sidewalks during my commute -- rain or shine -- and these shoes are the best I've had. They breathe during the summer months and they keep my feet dry the rest of the year. I require a wide toe box and good arch support in my shoes. Both these features are found in the Targhee II’s design. For the best fit, I buy Targhee IIs that are 1/2 size larger than what I would buy in a typical hiking boot.

They feel different than any other hiker I've ever worn. At first you feel like you're more on top of the shoe rather than "in" it, which is a bit unsettling until you realize it works and feels great, with little forefoot pressure and lots of stability and support. Love the fog/tea color that seems hard to find locally.

I have been buying custom made White's boots because I have trouble with my feet/arches. However, my wife bought me a pair of Keen sandals for our trip to Panama and when we looked into what might be offered by Keen in a regular shoe, we found the Targhee 11. I have retired my boots for all but use in heavy salvage work. A very comfortable shoe with great support.

Bought these to pre-hike racing trails, but have also been using them for disc golf- which has been plenty sloppy this spring! I stay dry in standing water & rain, and also love the wide spaced lugs as the sole cleans out instead of packing with mud.

I purchased these after they got the best value recommendation in Backpacker magazine. What a great choice! The shoes fit very well - even with a size 14 foot. I recently took them through a rocky day hike that included crossing several small run-off streams. My feet stayed comfortable and dry to the very end. Highly recommended.

Don't take my word for it. Backpacker magazine just reviewed the Targhee II and gave it high marks for durability and functional features. The sticky soles are handy, plus the deep lugs work well on trails. And the forefoot is wider than any other shoe I've tried - even shoes marked WIDE. You can pay more money for specialty shoes, but this is a great trail shoe for those of us who hike/jog/scramble/lurch on dayhikes.

I love these shoes. I bought the first model that came out, and really thought I should buy another to store away for when these wear out. So I found this one on sale and snapped it up. I love the blue color. They fit my feet really well, and seem to be sized true. They do take a couple of days to break in. And once broken in, they're totally comfortable and quite durable. Totally waterproof as well. A great shoe, regardless of price.

I loved the shoes the moment I put them on. What an excellent fit. I have a narrow heel and was concerned about slipping out of the shoe. But the strapping that surrounds the back tightened the heel perfectly. I'd read several reviews about the soles coming off of the first generation of the Targhee, so I was looking forward to the improved Targhee II. So far, so good. I highly recommend it.

These shoes like my Keen Newport sandals are incredibly comfortable. I have read that some of these do not hold up but mine are fine so far. The only issue I have is the tongue is a bit strange and does not sit well in the shoe. This creates limited snugness towards the ankle and the result is some upward heel movement. Otherwise great performer.

I just ordered my third pair. The first pair were returned after about a month due to a blown out lace loop. I had the replacement pair about 9 months, and the rubber toe cap has delaminated, allowing water to leak in. The poor durability is offset by the fact that this is the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.

The low profile Keen's Targhee two is a great every day shoe. Went one 1/2 size bigger for comfortable fit, used hiking foot pads to get more comfort. Would wear the high profile shoe for hiking to get more ankle support.

I've been wearing a pair of Keen Newport H20 sandals for the last 3 years and they're my favorite pair of footwear for Southern California. I bought the Targhee II for my 6-month trip coming up in March. I'll be to Europe, Asia and NZ. There'll be lots of city walking and a few alpine hiking trips with distances over 100 miles each. I'll be carrying a light backpack (25-28 lbs). Since my 3-yr old Keen sandals are still in good shape, I expect these should last the trip w/o a problem. The quality is typical Keen, which is superb. The mid-section is a tad tight with hiking socks. As they're relatively new, maybe they'll stretch more with time. The foot bed is stiffer than my Newport H20 but still comfortable, which is what I want for this long trip. As for the waterproofing, I've yet to test it. I'll give another review upon my return next Fall. Happy trails...
