Cures Bad Travel Habits
February 06, 2012
I purchased this bag to stop looking as much of a mess as I really am. Originally I looked at last year's model, but decided to forgo the sale prices and go with this new model. What works: very comfortable and stable (I'm a 5'5" ~140lb woman), even when carrying two laptops, 3 books, and a toddler (on my shoulders not in the pack!). Very protected, secure laptop pocket ingeniously nestled against my back. I was worried that it would be difficult to access since the straps are in the way, but it's not. I've used it on one airline trip and it passed through security fine. Downside: Burnt-Orange color is not as pretty and vivid as on the website. Exterior pockets vulnerable to pickpockets. What's still to be discovered: Whether the internal pockets are designed well enough to be useful. I'm having a hard time figuring out how/why to use so many slot pockets. And the padded compartment at the bottom of the bag is not very useful to me. The bag is really designed as a lap-top carrier; I find it on the small size for an everyday work bag (can fit 4-5 files, laptop, two small books, peripherals, but no lunch, and no sweater). On the other hand, the streamlined size might just prevent me from dragging so much junk around.
Pros: Build quality, streamlined, Cons: not very roomy, interior space not flexibleKeen PDX Universal Check Point Backpack Photo
