Keen Women's Amsterdam Shoe
We're keen about Keen's Amsterdam shoe. I love all Keens, I have the boots, the clogs, and of course the H2 sandals (a few pairs). I bought the mary-janes to thought a mary-jane soften up my style a bit. Perfect solution! They are hardy enough to walk around the city all day and stylish enough to say I hike but I'll hike tomorrow in my boots. As always, Keens deliver a super comfortable and supportive fit.

I have never worn a shoe that felt so lightweight and comfortable, while offering excellent arch support as well. I have a very narrow foot, but the Amsterdam hugs my foot well and doesn't "gap". I'm looking forward to ordering this shoe in additional colors.

I have "odd" feet -- very wide at the ball of my foot, with comparatively narrow heels, and a high arch -- so even though this shoe was so highly rated I didn't expect it to be so fabulous for me.
I didn't need a larger size. I normally wear an 8.5 Wide, but the 8.5 in this was perfect. The elastic band that some people have cut off was, for me, an ideal addition to the shoe: having the soft flexible elastic directly against my arch, with the velcro strap just for more stability, kept me from having the chafing or aching the "Mary Jane" style has given me since I was a child.
I expected to have some trouble with long wear, because they are less stable side-to-side than an athletic shoe and my right foot tips in when I walk. But the pain I expected in my knee and hip never came! I might actually get out the prescription orthotics I got years ago that I've never used because they don't fit in cute shoes!

I have about six pair of Keen. Sandals, tie and mary janes. I love the Amsterdam. It has a piece of elastic under the regular strap that had velcro. From reading a review somewhere, someone suggested that if the elastic bothers you to just snip that off and use the velcro strap. I did just that and now, there' the ones I go to first. I also wear about a half size smaller. I wear and 8 instead of my usual 7 1/2. They are also very lightweight.

The shoe comes with an elastic strap under the velcro band. This was not comfortable for me so I simply cut it off and never had a problem since. I'm not sure why the elastic is necessary because the velcro does the job quite well. The shoe has walked a few miles and still feels great!

Whether wearing barefoot in summer or with pants socks in winter, Keen's Amsterdam is the best fitting, most comfortable shoe I've ever worn (and I'm 72). It may be a cliche, but walking in the shoe really is like walking on air.

My mom loves dancing, but has feet that do not always cooperate(bunions). Had her try the Keen Amsterdam out and now she dances 2-4 times a week. She says they are the most comfortable shoes she owns! Time to get a few more pairs.

I absolutely LOVE these shoes!!! I've had surgery on both of my feet and this is the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned!!! I never wear any of my other shoes anymore!! I can't even tell they are on my feet. I don't feel any pressure points or pain anywhere on my feet. The orthotic-like inserts are very comfortable and I know my feet are not being ruined by wearing them. I wore my first pair so much that I bought another pair. You absolutely should try them. You will not be disappointed what-so-ever!

Kitty - 2008-09-07Cute but ouch
The first day I wore these shoes, I foolishly did so without socks, and walked downtown from my office and back, a distance of probably 1 mile roundtrip. Halfway through the walk I had to stop and buy a cheap pair of socks because the shoe had worn a hole into the top of my bunion. The socks were too late; it has been 3 weeks since that day and much Nu-skin and bandaids and pain later, I may now be able to try wearing these again. Other than that, the shoes are cute and were comfortable over all, which is why I didn't return them. I think with socks I'll be able to break my foot in. Generally I would not use that approach but I really like the shoes.
