Best Winter Boot
April 11, 2011

Our New England winter this year was cold and snow, snow and more snow... These boots were amazing - kept my feet dry and cozy! I love them!!!! True to size - they look good with everything - very comfortable to walk in deep snow and plowed area's - never felt like a heavy winter boot. Just buy them!

Pros: fit true to size, no break-in, very comfortable, not bulky

Perfect Boot for Midwestern Winters
May 25, 2011

Chicago is famous for it's horrible weather but these boots meet and exceed what's required for getting around town-- they are Warm, Waterproof and Cushy. I bought them to supplement another pair of boots I own and they quickly became my go-to pair for errands and walking my dog in both snowy muck and early spring rain. I ordered a half size larger (9.5) than my normal shoe size of 9 medium to accomodate wool socks as suggested by previous reviewers and find the fit just right-- not too tight and not too loose. The laces can be tricky to get done quickly, but the height on this boot ensures your pant legs stay dry (which is important when walking through deep snow); It should be noted you can tie the laces loosely enough to just be able to jump in them and go walking. The thick, luggy rubber sole provides traction on icy sidwalks and the insole is truly bouncy yet supportive. Stylish and functional-- I had a postal carrier stop me and ask about my boots because they looked so cool & comfy-- these boots get the job done and then some.

Pros: warm, comfy yet supportive, waterproof, well made, Cons: laces can be tricky

very comfortable, and warm, I use them in the very cold weather in the mountains. They look nice with skinny jeans and loose jeans too. With this boots you can walk with confidence in the icy cold weather.

I purchased these boots because I walk several blocks every day and I live in the frozen midwest. I was looking for something comfortable and warm that looked more like a shoe and less like a boot. This is the perfect boot for me! Very warm and comfortable with great ankle and arch support. They have good tread to keep me from wiping out the laces were a plus because it formed to my leg just perfectly. I would definitely suggest using the size guidelines they give you and ordering a half size larger. They do run a bit small. Overall, an excellent purchase!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: runs small

Great winter boot
December 26, 2010

If you like the look and fit of Keens, these boots fit right in. They are easy to get on and off comfortable from the get go. They seem like they will be warm but I have not tried them in cold (below zero) weather. I did order up 1/2 size as I do with most Keen boots and they are plenty roomy to wear thick winter socks in so they are probably true to size with regular socks. The lace up design is not as quick and easy as a zip boot, but I like the look and style of these boots.

Awesome Boot!!
February 07, 2011

I work out in the elements and do a lot of walking. I need a warm, comfortable but supportive, waterproof boot for work. These are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I would not hesitate in buying this product. In fact, I am looking for a Keen hiker for Spring.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, comfortable, good looking

cute, warm, weatherproof boots
February 04, 2011

I love keens, in general, and wanted to love these boots without reservation. And I love some parts of these boots. The color scheme and overall design are really cute, characteristic of keen, and can be worn under pants without looking unfashionable. I love the lace up shaft, which makes my ankles feel much more secure than a lower, slip-on boot, and accomodates a wider calf. The insulation is super warm, my toes are toasty in single digit weather, and not too hot indoors. The shoes are supremely waterproof, survived snowmageddon 2011 with flying colors, and clean easily. The only negative for me is the oddly placed seam across the top of the foot. This keeps it from having any give, and is too tight. I'm still debating whether or not this can be broken in, or if they need to be returned and replaced.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, Cons: Bad design

March 09, 2011

I have lived in upstate New York my entire life and have never enjoyed the winter until I discovered snowshoeing this year. Keen Hoodoo High Lace Snow Boots were just what I was looking for my winter new adventure. Sizing runs a little large, but with a heavy sock the fit is perfect. Very light weight and comfortable. Looking forward to the next snow fall.

Pros: light weight, quality materials

Very Warm
January 09, 2013

I bought these as a gift for my mom. She called me the other day to tell me how warm and comfortable they are. She said she didn't need to wear heavy socks with them as they were way too warm with them. She said they felt safe on the snow and ice. She keep going on about them. Very happy with these snow boots.

Great Boots
December 21, 2010

These are great. They are very comfortable. I am 5'1" and 95 lbs. so I do have a petite figure. The size chart for me was just right. I ordered a half size up as I intended to wear thick socks with them. 6 1/2. The heel seems a tad bit wide which leads me to the next sentence.... The ONLY thing missing from these boots is a side zipper because the laces take a bit of muscle to tighten. If I could go back, I might have ordered the Keen Women's "Hoodoo High Boot" instead of the "high Lace Boot" just for the ease of On/Off. The colored piping/detail adds a sporty look I only wish that maybe there were more than 2 choices other than; Rust (orange) and Grape (purple). I would have liked to have seen (black) as a choice because this could be paired with brown or black accessories.

LOVE the Keen Hoodoo Boot
January 27, 2012

I bought these on sale and love them. They are warm, comfortable and attractive. They are much lighter and most winter boots but are extremely warm. I have a larger calf and they still fit me fine. I live in northern Minnesota and my boots get a good workout. These have handled our cold, snowy winter well!

Excellent Boots - I had to buy two
January 19, 2011

I've always loved Keens and when I first saw these boots, I knew I had to have them. I put these boots through the test of using them every day at work where I have to stand on my feet for 8 to 9 hours a day. They never feel too warm when I'm indoors. And when I'm outdoors, hiking and snowshoeing in them, my feet still feel great in them. Even in deep puddles of slush, my feet stay dry. I'm a 7 in most Keen shoes and boots but with the Hoodoo High Lace, I had to go a half size up due to the 200 grams of Keen.Warm insulation recommended from a Keen rep. And if you're worried about lacing up such a high boot, don't be. I mostly just put my foot in and lace up without really tightening them (unless I'm hiking that day) as I rush out to work in the mornings. A great boot where I ended up getting another colour in them. I couldn't help myself!

Pros: light

These boots are fantastic for Northeast winters. I just received them a few days ago so I am still trying them out. They are so comfortable and waterproof and wonderfully warm. I love wearing them! The fit is a little wide at the toes, I think I just need to try tightening the laces a bit. I got the 9 and I feel it is the correct size for me, at 5'8". Otherwise, no complaints so far. I got the slate black/grape nectar which is more of a dark chocolatey brown and the purple is a nice accent color. I have no problems slipping them on and off. This is my second pair of Keen winter boots. As far as comfort, warmth, style and durability, I can't imagine ever buying anything other than Keen! I highly recommend these boots.

Great Boot
December 30, 2010

Bought these boots to protect my Southern feet (which are normally accustomed to warmer climates) in northern Illinois while visiting family... They were perfect! Keens always fit just right and these boots kept my tootsies warm and dry during stomping, sledding, and snowball fights. It takes a little while to lace them tightly all the way up, but only because they are taller boots and the new laces are a bit slick. My feet were warm and dry, but not sweating hot. I got good traction in snow and on ice. They are super comfortable. Not only do they wear well, they look good too. I like the simple styling without all the wild colors and designs of other boots. I will be wearing them here at home where it's not even that cold just because I like them so much. I give 2 thumbs up for these Keens - definitely worth it!

If this is the new 'Alaska' boot, it's great!
March 17, 2013

I ordered these and the Keen's Women's Alaska boot at the same time. For some reason, there was a delivery delay w/the Hoodoo boot, but the Alaska came promptly. I love the Alaska boot and put it straight to work, so, when the Hoodoo finally arrived, I sent it back untested. I think that the Hoodoo is this year's update of the Alaska, however, so I think it's safe to review it as such, since the Alaska no longer shows up on this website. (The Hoodoo in brown looks like almost the identical boot.) I LOVE THEM!!! I've been wearing my 'Alaska's all winter- through slush and snow and rain and could not be happier with my purchase. They are comfy, have great traction, and so warm! Thanks, Keen!

great winter boots!
December 26, 2010

Paired with smartwool heavy socks, these boots are all I'll need to many New England winters to come! They are warm, comfortable (right out of the box; no need to break-in), and stylish. I have a very narrow foot and usually wear an 8.5 (but I bought these in a 9). They are a little roomy for my foot but I can layer up heavy socks and they're just right. Recommend for a versatile winter boot!

Love these boots.
December 27, 2010

These boots are extremely comfortable and have excellent support. They are as comfortable as a pair of sneakers. Lightweight, warm, waterproof and comfortable enough to wear inside and outside. They are not too warm when you are indoors. Well worth the investment. The boots are lightweight and don't feel like "bricks" on my feet like other winter boots do. The boots "fit like a glove" with the laces that go up the boots. Great feature. The entire boot provides stability, especially in the arch and the ankle. Great for outdoor activities. Very happy with this purchase and would definitely look into KEEN products for my next footwear purchase. I usually wear a size 10, but ordered a 10.5 because of other reviews saying that the boots run small. This is correct. The 10.5 fits me perfectly.

Nice boot!
February 02, 2011

These are a great pair of stylish, comfortable, and warm boots. The only two drawbacks is they do get wet on top of the toe area inside and they are slightly tough to tighten the laces - they slide out of the loops even after you tighten them. You must hold the laces really tight before tying them to avoid having to do them all over agian. I treated them with a water resistant wax but they still get wet. With natural leather that is expected. Altrec did tell me that because of them being leather they can saturate over extended time in wet conditions. These boots are perfect for really cold nights. I walk my dog at night and she often pulls me through the snow. My feet do stay dry even though the upper part of the toe (on the inside) seems to be wet by the time I get home. I purchased these and the OmniHeat Bugaboot by Columbia, I chose to keep these for the drier walks for warmth and comfort and kept the Columbia for the snow storms. These are flexible yet supportive of the feet and ankle. I would highly recommend! I would give them 5 stars but went with 4 just because of the ability to get wet inside. The Slate Black Grape Nector color is in no way near a shade of black, not even slate - they are definitely dark brown. They feel like a suede/nubuck leather. Definitely treat them before wearing in the snow. They don't retain that texture even after treating them. I do think they may run a half size bigger which works if you are wearing multiple pairs of socks, which I don't think this boot needs. I wore regular white cotton socks and my feet were warm. I chose to keep my regular size because I felt I could tolerate the extra toe space.

Another Great Keen Product
January 05, 2012

I bought these boots for my wife; she absolutely loves them-won't take them off. She used them over the holiday break for snow shoeing, said they were “awesome.” They fit her well (She is 5’10” and 150 pounds), had to go a half size up, but they were a good fit. They performed well, kept her feet nice and “toasty” warm and dry. This was in 8 inches of fresh heavy wet snow. She commented that she felt the traction was good, enough grip, and the ankle support was good also. She also likes the style, can be worn off the trail as well. She would definitely recommend them to others.
