Description

Whether you wear the Keen Women's Targhee II shoe for trail running or just roaming around the campsite, you're going to feel a comfortable difference over conventional waterproof active wear shoes. That's because unlike other trail running shoe manufacturers who opt to use the same waterproof membranes found on practically every running shoe on the market, Keen took a route less traveled and used a new eVENT® membrane fabric with Dry System Technology for better breathable comfort in wet weather. The difference is one that you can feel. Most waterproof/breathable technologies require that perspiration condenses to moisture before it can pass through the membrane. eVENT® membrane fabric allows sweat to pass through in vapor form, so your feet don't feel soaked in sweat like you would in other weatherproof trail running shoes. The heel of the Women's Targhee II features Keen's S3 heel support structure, a special shock-absorbing design that's engineered to support your foot on impact, minimizing your chances of twisting an ankle on rolling terrain. Like other Keen performance shoes, the Women's Targhee II is all about stability, but if you're looking for drier socks at the end of the day, the new Dry System Technology is worth checking out - especially if you forgot to pack extra socks for the return trip home.

Ran 3 miles in these...
December 17, 2011

I love these shoes for hiking but on vacation, I forgot my running shoes, so I put these on and ran 3 miles on pavement. Although they were heavy, my feet felt great. I was very surprised. I also had to cross a stream in these, and although my feet got wet, they really helped to keep them from freezing. It didn't help that others with me had freezing feet, so we all ended up going back to our camp early to dry off.. Love these and would recomend them highly!!!

Pros: comfortable, nice look

keen fan
February 07, 2011

I have been a Keen fan for a long time and these are no exception. I bought them to replace a pair of keen running shoes. Make no mistake, I am no runner, I used them for walking. These are not as flexible and perhaps won't be as breathable this summer. But are a comfortable well fitting substitute. They will be better on the rugged terrain I am accustomed to. In time I hope the flexibility will improve. They are definitely up to Keen's standard of excellence.

I have fallen arches from previous running in BAD shoes. Keen Targhee 11 has so much arch support that I am no longer down with sore feet the day after running. I just bought my 3rd pair because I wear them everywhere, all day long!! Great shoe!

Great Shoe
January 21, 2011

This is my second pair in 2 years. I use them mainly for walking the dog and hiking short distances. They are great in rain, mud and 2 inches or less of snow. I did order a half size larger but did not find them to be any larger than the previous pair I bought that was a half size smaller. They do require some breaking in, but I would buy them again and recommend them to anyone looking for a good hiking/walking shoe.

Love these Keen Shoes!
December 29, 2010

I love these Keen Shoes! I couldn't be happier with them! I tie them loosely so I can slip them on in a hurry. If they had cinch system like their sandals they'd be better, but I love them anyway! I have 4 pair of Keen's sandals - I live in Michigan and needed a warmer pair of comfortable shoes. These are perfect!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

awesome shoes!
July 12, 2011

I absolutely love Keen shoes! I have owned several pairs and put many miles on all of them on all kinds of terrain. The only reason I get new pairs is because I have narrow heals and I tend to rub through the back fabric on all of my shoes in time. I would and have recommended Keen shoes and these specifically to others!

First Keen's and won't be my last
February 27, 2011

Received these a few weeks ago and have worn them almost every day at work and home. I work at a zoo so I am on my feet all day in all conditions and these have been great. Comfortable right outta the box. I ordered a 9 as i saw most reviewers say to order a 1/2 size up. Everything fits great just a bit loose around my ankle making my heel slip a bit. It was fixed with thicker socks. The toebox is good and wide leaving my toes plenty of room to spread out. I had been wearing Merrell's prior to these and they squished my toes. Can't wait to get out on the trails with these in a few weeks for a little backpacking trip!

Best hiking shoe yet!
February 14, 2011

I work outside & need durability and waterproofing. Not only does the Targhee fit this need (as does the Newport sandal in the warmer months) but it's as comfortable as it is rugged. Very few other types of hiking boots have the width that I need through the toe box - but snug enough in the back. I will continue to buy Keens.

My favorite walking shoe
December 31, 2010

I have been wearing this shoe style for about 4 years. I walk my dog every morning-rain, sunshine, dreary--whatever. I am always able to just put the new pair on and go with no discomfort. This particular pair fits slightly loose on my right foot for some reason, but if I pull the laces tighter towards the toe, it seems to be doing better. I have had not a problem with durability even when walking in wet grass or rain day after day (live on the Gulf Coast). I like the shoe...that is why I keep buying them. I have about 8 pairs of different Keen shoes. This is the brand I mainly wear and buy.

Love these shoes!
January 07, 2012

I was hesitant at first about purchasing these shoes, but I can assure anyone that I am so happy and 100% satisfied that I broke down and bought them. I 5"1' and 103 lbs and normally wear a size 7 shoes, so when buying my Keens I also bought a size 7 because I like my hiking shoes to fit snuggly. They were a perfect fit. They are a little bit pricey, but in my opinion they are worth every penny!! I have hiked many times in these bad boys and even took them with me to trek across both Alaska and then New Mexico! They provide great support around the ankles as well as nice traction on the bottom for people who are doing some serious hiking. Seeing that I've had these shoes for just over two years and have hiked a hundred or so miles in them, they have held up great. Almost in as good of condition as the day I bought them. I have gotten multiple compliments on their appearance as well...Let's be honest, more hiking shoes are ugly!! They are even comfortable enough to get me around campus in East Tennessee...I have no complaints on this pair of shoes and would recommend Keens to anyone. Since this product was so great, I now own 5 pairs of Keen shoes! Love this buy!

great shoe, didn't love the rounded toe
September 25, 2010

I really liked the look, color and quality of the Keen shoe/boot, what I didn't like on my foot was the really rounded toe. I'm 5'3" and I have very small feet and I felt that I looked like a hobbit. I did send them back but I almost kept them from the comfort alone.

Keen Targhee Waterproof Trail Shoe
July 28, 2012

This is my first pair of Keen's. I bought the women's Targhee Trail Shoe. They arrived very quickly. Out of the box they fit perfectly and where immediately comfortable. I have radiation damage from cancer treatments in my lower spine - sacrum - and both my SI joints. I have always been an active outdoors woman - horses, hiking, camping and I need something to help stabilize me comfortably will walking so I could get some of my former lifestyle back. We are planning a big trip out West and I am very concerned about all the walking and trails we are going to be going on. I really need something that will stick me to the ground. I bought theses for comfort and the tread surface on the shoe to help prevent falls. I love them. The look great, feel great, and I am very pleased with my purchase. I am so pleased I am talking my daughter and son to getting Keen's for hiking on the trip as well. Thank you!

order 1/2 size larger
February 09, 2011

I have always loved Keens. I didn't realize a hiking shoe from them would be so cramped in the toe area. They felt really comfortable other than that. The lacing kind of makes your foot look wide. I returned them because of the size and also because where it falls around your ankle is too low. The shoes felt like it was sliding off while I wore it around the house. I usually have no problem with Keens, but this shoe I did.

My favorite Keen
November 26, 2011

I have a pair of five-year old Targhee I 's that still look & feel great, and are still marvelously waterproof. When I saw this pair on sale, I didn't hesitate to order. Older pair, which I bought to walk my dog through dewy pastures & then some, will be gracefully moved on to non-mucky farm work, while the new ones will go out in public.

Loose fit in heel
March 06, 2011

I went with the recommendation of a 1/2 size larger and was not disappointed with the fit, accept in the heel. Read one other review with this same problem. The shoe fit everywhere else, but the heel slipped too much. A half size smaller would have made the length too small. Did not work well for my foot at all. Returned them.

November 21, 2010

I have many Keen shoes, from sandals to biking, to water to hiking. It is the only brand I choose for shoes. These are my staple shoes for all round walking and hiking, always comfortable right out of the box. They do run about a half size small, or up a whole size if you wear heavy socks. Once you find the fit, it is so easy to buy the next pair. The Targhee II offers stable support with a great supportive footbed.

My Favorite Shoe!
February 26, 2011

I love the Targhee II! After purchasing the mid-cut version last summer, I knew I would have to have a low-cut as well. They are the most comfortable shoe ever! I have replaced my athletic style shoes with these. They are perfect for outdoor activities like walking and hiking, but they work for most any casual activity. I love that they are waterproof as I enjoy walking on a local trail in the mornings while the grass is still wet with dew. Other pros are roomy toe box and the fact that the laces stay tied. I can't really think of any cons!

I love these shoes and once my pair is worn out, I buy the exact same ones again. I love being ready for any activity that might come up during my day and these are perfect. I bike, trail run, hike, and go to work in these shoes. I wear them when traveling because they are not as heavy as boot and they protect my feet. I usually by the darker colors so they don't stand out when I wear them to work. The only thing that wore out on my last pair was the sole, and that was after four years and hundreds of miles-- up Wyoming mountains and through South American jungles. They are just great shoes.

WISH THEY FIT ME
February 12, 2011

I really like this shoe. It is the "all round" shoe that I am looking for. This shoe has the stiffness of a hiker and lightness of a sneaker. I have other Keens' that I have had for a while and they have worn very well. Unfortunately for me, the heel in this shoe is too wide. No matter how tightly I tied the shoe it still slipped. A smaller size would not have been an option, as the length was just right. I hated to have to return it.

Awesome, comfortable Keen shoes!
January 21, 2011

This is my first pair of Keen footwear... I am extremely impressed! I've worn these shoes once -- all day long. I'm pleased to report that I often had to remind myself that I was wearing "new" shoes! It appears that no "breaking-in" time is needed with Keen shoes! They felt great all day; no complaints! I took others' suggestions and ordered 1/2 size larger than my usual size. Though they do feel a tiny bit roomy in the heel, wearing heavy socks helped and I fear that my usual size would have been too snug. My foot is wide and prior to this purchase I didn't know if the Keen women's shoe would accommodate the width of my foot, as I usually have to buy mens' hiking boots. Great news! The width of these women's Targhee IIs is wonderful! So glad that I've found a women's hiking shoe that fits! I plan to purchase more of the fun colors of this fabulous shoe! Thank you Keen!!! :)

This is my 5th pair of Targhees. One I wore the heel very crooked and had to get rid of them and one pair's sole started to seperate. The other 2 pair are still in use. They are over 3 years old. Sturdy, but toe box too large
April 28, 2011

I really wanted to love these shoes and reviews were promising. They were simply too large. I wear (and ordered) a size 10 as I was looking for a good waterproof light hiker. Unfortunately, the toe box was too large and one of my heels kept lifting up. Nice, sturdy looking shoe, but just not the right one for me. I'll be returning.

December 15, 2010

I am overweight and have very high arches with a high instep. Most shoes are not comfortable for me to wear. I love to hike in the woods which is obviously great exercise for me. I've never really found a great hiking shoe until I met Keen. They are a wider shoe so if you have narrow feet, this isn't for you. They have excellent arch support and I can walk on the wet trails without getting my feet wet. Thank you Keen!

Very comfortable
May 24, 2011

I bought these shoes for trail walking with my dog. So far they have held up quite well. They are very comfortable to walk in from the first time I put them on - no need to break them in. Walking through wet grass is no problem. They still look nice even after walking through wet and recently mowed grass. They also do very well absorbing shock when walking on roads. Overall, very nice shoes.

Beyond my expectations
May 28, 2011

I have worn my Keen Targhee shoes numerous times since ordering them in February. My main objective was to find a WATERPROOF shoe for hiking, snow shoeing, walking the dog in the rain and rainy soccer games. I could not be happier with my purchase. My feet stayed completely dry after being out in poring down rain for my son's soccer game for the entire half of the game. They not only are waterproof but extremely comfortable. I wear a 7 1/2 shoe and that is what I ordered. I still have room for a thicker sock if needed. I also appreciate that even with those wonderful qualities they are not clunky looking on my feet. I am extremely happy with this Keen product that I am looking into a Keen sandal to purchase for an upcoming 3 week trip to Europe.

Sturdy, comfortable Keens!
January 25, 2011

Laces seemed "stiff" initially, making it difficult to tighten the shoe around the ankle. The first day I wore them I was unsure about the fit but after a few days wear I loved them -like all of my Keen shoes!! Great for inside, outside, on-trail, off-trail, grip well in snow and ice and keep feet dry. A great shoe.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, comfortable

If I had to order again I would definitely order 1/2 size larger to allow for thicker socks. Mine are fine with thinner socks. Look great on my feet and they are very comfortable.

Extreme Comfort Hiking Shoe
April 16, 2011

The shoes are durable and comfortable. Even after a few days in a row of walking in them, I looked forward to putting them on again. At first, I had to re-tie a few times because they would become loose while hiking. Over time, the laces did not loosen as frequently. They protected my feet from getting sore when hiking over rocky terrain. They proved waterproof in shallow water and light snow. I wear a size 7 shoe in other hiking and running shoes and these fit true to size. And they look great on my feet.

My go to shoe
April 20, 2012

I practically live in these shoes. I hike at least 90 miles a month. These shoes support my foot, knees and hips in rough terrain. I feel sure footed. They keep my feet dry even in a steady rain. They are easy to lace up tightly. There is plenty of room in the toe-box so that my feet do not feel cramped.

Pros: waterproof, stability, comfortable

In love with these shoes!
February 12, 2011

I now have 3 pairs of the keen targhees. I wear them almost non-stop as they are sooooo comfortable! They definitely run a 1/2 size small as I am a 8.5 and wear a 9 in them with no extra room to spare. I have high arches but these provide lots of support. They are very sturdy, yet comfortable right out of the box. I don't use them for long distance running (given that I think they'd be a bit heavy and because they are so sturdy), but I do use them for hiking and for everyday use. They wash up great with a scrub brush and seem to last really well. Highly recommend!

Pros: Great design, Performance, Cons: Cost

Love my Keens!!

This is my 2nd pair of Targhee II. I just wanted them in black too. Great shoes... they offer great arch support, waterproof and very comfortable to walk/hike in.

Boot is better for those w/ narrow heels
May 26, 2011

I have a pair of the Targhee II boots that I love, so I thought I would try the shoe-version, too. As others have stated, if you have a narrow heel, do not get the shoe version. It was almost like wearing flip-flops, the shoe heel area was so big. Narrow heels work with the boot version since the ankle support will keep the shoes on.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value, Cons: Cost

I just received these shoes today and they are so comfortable! I don't see a break-in period at all for these. They are very lightweight and flexible; yet, they have a sturdy foundation. Colorado here I come in my new Keens!

wear everywhere
January 08, 2011

I usually wear a size 8 so ordered 1/2size larger but found it too large. I settled comfortably with the 8. I thought that I had bought a shoe to walk in the snow with the dogs. I found that not only were they great in the snow with no leaks and wet socks, but I was also wearing them at home. I love not having to change my shoes so often. I would definitely recomment them for indoors or out. In addition, they are quite good looking and easy to put on.

April 01, 2011

This shoes has every feature I was looking for in hiking boots: light, dry, stable. I own Keen sandles and snowboots and love them. I found the sz 10.5 foot length to be great, but as other reviewers noted, there was too much heal slippage. I have wide toes, not a wide heel. Rats!

Pros: light dry stable, Cons: heel slippage

I just got my Keen Targhee II shoes and so far they are great! I have a somewhat wide foot with a high arch and normally I have to go up a half size but because of the ample toe box on these shoes, I can wear my proper size.

Good Purchase
March 02, 2012

I am a Keen shoe fan, and Targhee delivers what it promised, four wheel drive for your feet. I love how Keen shoes are ready to hit the trail or road right out of the box, and Targhee didn't disappoint. I slipped them on, had plenty of room in toe-box, super arch support, a sturdy comfortable hiker. I test drove them on a 6 mile hike, no blisters, no sore feet! The reason I did not give the shoe as excellent rating is the shoe design has the hiker at not quite a mid-rise, so it sits just below my ankle and can dig in. Overall Targhee is a good hiker and I would recommend it.

Pros: hit the trail right out of box no breaking in, Cons: sits right below ankle and digs in

lovin my KEENs
January 26, 2011

I received my very first pair of KEENs, the Women's Targhee II Shoe a week ago and they've been on my feet ever since. They were comfortable right out of the box with no wear in period. I have wide feet so I need a little extra space in the toe box, and these are perfect! They have a very rugged sole which is great walking around the piles of snow that this winter has brought to the north eastern US. I will use them for hiking once the weather breaks! I love the style, the color selection, and the quality of the shoe.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

I am an average hiker, and wanted something other than sneakers to wear on the trails. I was concerned about comfort, and I didn't want a heavy shoe. Since I received these in winter, I have not had the opportunity to where them hiking yet, but I have worn them everywhere else. They are super comfortable, and there was no breaking in needed. I put them on and my feet were happy. Granted, you can't wear them everywhere, they don't really go with a suit or dress, but I put them on any chance I can get. Great shoes.

February 03, 2011

I Love these shoes! I wear an uncommon size, 10 1/2, and have high arches. Keens is one of a few brands that I can wear without fail. I have worn these shoes standing and walking all day, and my feet were as comfortable at the end of the day as when I put them on. Plus, I have worn them in a snowstorm, and my feet stayed dry, a major plus! The sole is a little bulkier than I thought, but it's got great traction on these slippier snowy sidewalks. I would definitely get these again.

Foot-worthy shoes
March 27, 2011

Bought both the sz 9.5 and 10 to compare; Keen sizing has been hard for me to nail down, only because one foot is bigger than the other and I have 2 pair of Keens now, 1 is sz 9.5 and 1 in sz 10. Since I plan to use these for hiking, I opted to keep the 10s and will wear some thicker socks. Wore them in by using for a busy day of errands and gardening, they performed admirably and kept my feet comfortable and well-supported, and at the moment I have a fractured pinky toe which didn't get pinched on the side or jammed in the toebox - great construction for toe protection. Laces stayed tied, cushioning more than adequate, good ankle support and awesome tread/grip. Once the broken toe is healed I can't wait to head to the trails with them!

These Keens Rock!
October 05, 2011

Pros: These shoes are waterproof. This means I can tromp through the morning dew and not worry about my feet getting wet. Yay! Comfortable. As with with most Keens, these give ample room in the toe-area, while snugly fitting the heel. For me, this is the best fit. WARNING: This model tends to run a little small. I usually wear a 9.5-10, but I bought these in a 10 and I'm glad I did. The 9.5 would have been too small, especially with a thick pair of socks! I have worn these shoes all day, and my feet did not feel fatigued at all (and I suffer from plantar fasciitus!) Awesome arch support, A+ in my book. Style/Color: I bought the slate black/seneca color, and I love them! The color is feminine, without being too frilly. Cons: My feet got a LITTLE bit too warm (I think due to the waterproof factor/breathability) but this didn't bother me overmuch. I'd rather have warm feet than cold!

Pros: waterproof, roomy toe-area snug heel, good arch support, style/color, Cons: this model runs small

I have so many pairs of Keen shoes, I have almost lost count. It is the only shoe that gives me enough cradle support for my heel, given that I have a fused ankle and all my weight comes down on my heel on the one foot. The hiking boots have been great for me, too. I can wear them all day long, while living my life, not necessarily hiking. They are light enough that they are not a burden to walk in, but give awsome support all over the foot. I love Keen shoes. What more can I say?

Had to return this lovely, lightweight shoe for 1/2 size larger. Shoe also runs narrow in comparison to my other hiking shoes, except for wide heel. I wish all shoes, at least each brand, were consistent in sizing.

Terrific Shoe - Quality Construction
January 28, 2011

Nothing bad to say about this shoe - Went to local store to try Keen shoes on as I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis and wanted to make sure it was the "perfect" fit. Great shoe regardless of having a foot condition or not. Sturdy, comfortable, good looking and practical. I can wear it all day long with no foot pain at all. Great support. I wear them hiking and through slush and snow on my everyday journeys too. It's just a great shoe to be in! I usually wear a 9.5, needed to ship back for exchange to a 10. Customer service and ease of use on the website makes shopping a delight.

Great shoe
November 23, 2010

After buying the Targhee II boot, I decided to also get the Targhee II shoe for more everyday wear and to leave my ankles free. The shoe did take some breaking in for the tongues (they kept digging into the tops of my feet) but I have bony, angular feet and the shoes are now very comfortable after a week of wear. They are definitely waterproof and breathe well. There is a tiny bit of slip in the heel for me but it's not at all uncomfortable and I have not experienced any blisters with these shoes. I work two jobs where I am on my feet for most of my shifts and these have been great so far with very little soreness at the end of the day, unlike the Merrell mocs I used to wear. The grip on the soles is also excellent. Can't comment on durability just yet as I have only had the shoes for maybe 2 weeks, but if they are like the Targhee boot then they will last a long time even with constant use. I ordered these shoes true to size (10.5) and they fit just fine with plenty of room in the toe as is customary with Keens. I have worn them with a few different sock weights and all have worked well. I look forward to happy feet at the end of the day and will continue to buy Keens.

Great hiking shoes
December 30, 2012

I have been wearing these for 2 years now on many all day hikes. They have been great. They are great on rocky trails. Great stability, durability and arch support. I bought a half size larger and at first I was worried because they seem to slip around some the heal area, however when hiking no problems at all. No break in period necessary and never any blisters. If you prefer a snug boot or shoe though these might not be for you.

Pros: durable, arch support
