Fit okay, didn't like tongue of shoe
April 27, 2012

Overall, the shoe fit fine. I usually wear a size 7 shoe and this is the size I got in this shoe. Everything was comfortable but the tongue of the shoe was very short and rubbed my ankle just wearing the shoe around the house. Also, i was looking a a little more rugged shoe for day hikes. If you are looking for a very light hiker this might be the shoe for you.

Not my usual Keen
February 24, 2012

Being a huge fan of Keen shoes, I was surprised that these running shoes were so different from the Keen Ridgeline and the Targhee II hiking boot. My feet are slightly wide, and I enjoy the extra toe wiggle-room in my other Keens. The Tryon shoe is both narrower and less supportive than I was expecting. I guess they could be called somewhat of a minimalist running shoe--made, of course with the usual good Keen quality, just not what I expected. I was looking for a waterproof running shoe, and would have purchased the Keen Ridgeline if it were available, but thought this would be more comparable--not so. I ended up purchasing the Salomon Crossmax, which has been everything I wanted.

Pros: waterproof
Cons: narrow, low support

A bit different than their hiking shoes
April 01, 2011

I know these are trail running shoes but I still thought the fit would be similar to their other shoes. However I found them to be narrower in the toes both at the sides and the top. My other keens, of which I own 3 pairs, I never had to break in. These I definitely had to break in to stretch the toe area out a bit. I also don't think they are as supportive as other trail running shoes I have tried. All in all I would have given them a 3.5 if that was an option. Keen makes the best hiking shoes around but these trail running shoes weren't as good.
