great all year round
These shoes are so comfortable. I have never owned a pair of keens before and they did not need any break in time to wear all day walking around. I will be keeping them for a long time.

Great shoes
I love keen sandals, the Whispers are especially nice. I got the beet red color and it is awesome. I do order 1/2 a size up when I order keen sandals though. They are worth the money if you can find them on sale.

they worked in Patagonia
I used them for sea kayaking, hiking and living for a week on the gulf beaches and did not blister until 6 days into the trip. Lightweight, comfortable and versatile. They do pick up stones, of course!

different fit
If you are used to the original Keen sandals you might have the problem I did with the whisperers. They look nice, but are narrower and do not have the same footbed with arch support. I wear my Keens everywhere! I am a water person and need my traditional fit Newport and Venice sandals to keep me feeling ready and fit. As soon as I put on the Whisperer I was dissapointed in the arches and width.

Confortable Sandal
Great color, great fit. Just spent a week walking San Francisco in my new Whisper sandals, and not a blister to show for it! The sandals slip off so easily after a long day out and about.

Decent Purchase
I'm 5'-4.5" with 7.5 feet. My feet aren't that narrow. For me, these shoes are a perfect fit (without socks). If you want to wear them with socks, select one size larger. However, I purchased them for the purpose of wearing them in water, so the perfect fit design meets my needs. The first time I wore them, the shoe stitching irritated my skin. After wearing them in water for a kayaking excursion, I no longer notice the stitching from the shoes. I have also worn these shoes for hikes. The only down side is when little rocks get into the shoe, but there's no way getting around it. I also like this shoe since it's close toed, which has helped me a number of times hitting objects with the toe part of the shoe. It does dry quickly, which is a plus. As for the durability and quality, it looks pretty sturdy, however, I have already noticed wearing out of the soles, which make them uncomfortable for me to wear for a long period of time in one place. I have only worn them for a week in Hawaii and two short hiking trips.

the box expectation
I was on my way out the door for a bike ride when the box arrived.
I quickly opened it to check out my new Altrec gear. The color of the Whisper was even better than I imagined, but they looked small and thought they would never fit (size 7 l/12). I slipped them on and not only did they fit perfectly (made my feet look smaller), they were so comfortable I left them on and went for my ride. They're my new favorite shoe...they go with everything from shorts, jeans and sun dresses. There is really nothing not to like about them!

Great Purchase
I purchased these sandals a few months ago to replace an old favorite that finally retired. Having worn them, I find them very comfortable and versatile, walking or hiking at least 2 miles in them. Wear with shorts or skorts.

Most Comfortable Shoes with support Ever
I am a 68 year old female who cleans carts at a golf course in the summer. Last summer I went through two pairs of shoe soles with shoes that hurt my feet anyway. I purchased my Whispers in a size 11 expecting to return them, but when I wore them, I found them to be terrific and wonderfully comfortable. I am constantly walking on gravel and the support I receive from these shoes is terrific. One day I forgot to change my shoes after my shift and actually golfed 18 holes in them. They were so comfortable that all of us at the golf course are wearing them, including the men. These shoes work on the gravel and I was concerned about getting pebbles in my shoes. Not so. I love my whispers, in fact, I've just ordered another pair in the correct size because I find them to be the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I'm shouting for joy about my whispers!

heel slips back
while i really really really wanted to love these shoes, i just couldn't. the colors are great, the look is great but be prepared for your foot to continue slipping back every time you walk. there's nothing i could do to avoid it and my tears haven't stopped since.

Too Narrow Too Loose in Heels
I was very hopeful that the light-weight Keen Whisper sandal would be my backpacking solution for a durable water sandal for slippery crossings in fast-moving High Sierra streams. I should have better heeded the reviews that underscored that the Whisper version is for narrow feet. I wear 7-1/2, medium width shoes, boots, sandals, and when Keen means narrow, they really mean narrow. I ordered size 8 in anticipation of the narrow fit, but it was still far too small. The cross straps are effectively one-size without any room for expansion. They can only be tightened. Oddly, my heel slid out of the cup even with my foot very snugly strapped in. Since the narrow size really didn't work for my very average foot size, I did no more than try them on in my carpeted living room so I cannot comment on their durability or protection while on the trail or in the stream. By all appearances, the quality seems fine, but with a fit that didn't work and without being able to test them, I really don't have anything useful to offer regarding the quality. I hope Keen can create a light-weight water sandal without a toe loop (found on a different style) for average-sized feet.

Fantastic sandals
Love the sandals - fit true to the size, very comfortable. I use them hiking on dry land and in the water and they are still like new. They are little on the expensive side but they are worth it!

Women's Keen Whisper Sandal
I bought these sandals in Brindle/ Regal Orchid color and it is light taupe with lavender accents color, which I found very pretty. They are much more light weight compared to Newport style, which I have in nubuck leather. The toe protection in Whisper is less prominent but it contributes to the lightness of sandals, which was something I was looking for. I think I will wear Newport style for rough terrain, off-roading as they can take more beating, and use Whisper for walking in parks, traveling, camping sites, etc.
I also think that Whisper is made for a more narrow foot than Newport. I have a very narrow foot and Whisper is perfect for me, while my foot is a bit swimming and less stable in Newport. The design with cinch cord is great, goes easily on and off. I have had my Newport sandals for so long (about 4 years) and they still look like new so I hope the same will happen with my new Whisper sandals!

soooo comfortable
This is my second pair of KEEN Whisper's (I also have the open back/slip on version). They are soooo comfortable, functional and come in such a variety of colors I'm probably going to have to get another pair.
I wore these kayaking, lost my boat in the rapids, but my KEEN's stayed on my feet!
I wear them to walk my dog, work in the garden, while fishing for sharks, hanging out on the beach, or just kicking around the house.
I'm generally a size 9 to 9 1/2 and found the 9 to fit me just fine (5'7" 130 lbs.)
A previous pair I owned had an issue with the stitching coming undone, which is why I've only rated these good in quality and durability, otherwise, overall an excellent water-friendly shoe :)

Great summer shoe, but makes feet sweat
I was surprised at how light and comfortable these sandals are. I had to order a 1/2 size larger than normal to get a great fit, but WOW do they feel great. They stay on well without even having to cinch up the ankle strap.
The only reason I don't like to wear them all the time is because the soles are made of some material that make my feet hot and sweaty. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't wear any other shoe.

Great shoe
Fits great and protects my big toe that I had ingrown toenail surgery on. I have had two different people that I did not know asked me if I liked my shoe. One person was at the Nissan car dealelrship and the other was at my bank. They both said they had the "Keen" shoes and loved them. I have "Big Feet" 9-1/2 (hard sizze to find) and am 5'3" and weight 110 lbs.

Great outdoor shoe
The Keen whisper is a great outdoor shoe. It provides excellent protection for the toes and still breaths. The shoe does run about 1/2 small so order up to give yourself the proper fit.

for Narrow feet only
I didn't think I had an especially wide foot, but the whisper was too narrow on my right foot. I was tempted to try to "break them in," because I could tell they are a well made and comfortable shoe. I returned them and will try a Newport H2O a half size larger.

Great for a narrow foot
I tried on Keen sandals last summer and gave up on them because they were too wide and the Newport seemed to push my toes forward and just didn't fit right. This summer I tried the Keen Whisper sandal which was suggested to me by a client. I love the fit- I can tighten them just right. I wear a 91/2 and have a narrow foot and I love these sandals. I bought the coffee liquer color but I find that I mostly wear black combination colors so I think I should have gotten the blakc or dark shadow. Great sandal!

Great fit for a narrow foot
These sandals fit way better than the Keens H2 water sandals because I have a narrower foot. The H2 sandals left a lot of wiggle room on either side. Plus, the Whisper sandals are much less clunky and more feminine. They are very comfortable and were ready for long treks right out of the box. My only complaint is that my foot tends to slide toward the back of the sandal instead of staying in place (can't seem to get the cinching quite right). I'll be using these on river trips all summer long!

just what i needed!
I have flat weak feet that have gotten worse over the years. I love these sandals. The sole is supportive and comfortable. The shoe us adjustable to any foot type. My feet are skinny and my heel narrow so the fact that I can adjust to fit is wonderful. I will be wearing these every day in Costa Rica and throughout the summer.

These sandals are amazing! We do a lot of hiking with creek crossings, and these sandals are perfect for our jaunts. The soles are sturdy and rugged enough for dealing with river rocks, and the fabric is quick-drying. The sandals are also versatile enough to wear around town and to work on casual day. While they are quite costly, I believe the shoes are worth every penny.

Great sandal
Easy on and off. Can dial in the snugness easily which is especially helpful depending upon whether you go barefoot or use socks. Good value. Tried a couple of sizes and ended up with normal shoe size.

runs narrow
Good quality sandals that are lighter and less clunky than the Newports, but they definitely run narrow. You can even see it with the eye in a side by side comparison with the Venice sandals or the Newports.

Whisper sandal

Awesome!
I got my Whisper over a year ago and have been wearing them down. I got my sister a pair also because she kept wearing mine. I'm between 7-7.5 and normally take the latter in Keens, as was the case with these.
Plus: Super comfortable shoes that are so easy to slip on and off but aren't open heeled/toed so I can walk for a substantial distance (all day) in them. I have narrow feet and these were a better fit than the Newport and Venice.
Minus: I actually don't like wearing them to playgrounds or beaches because sand easily gets in them and pool under my feet. There's no easy way to get rid of sand/bark except to take the shoes off. Also, after hours in the sun, my feet now have funny tan marks... my feet have nickel-sized spots!
But, I will buy another pair at the end of this summer as the straps are wearing away (alas, they do not last forever). I love the Whisper.

Great walking shoes
These are such amazing shoes! Recently took them on a week long trip to Las Vegas. TONS of walking! My feet never hurt or were uncomfortable at all. Loved that my feet didn't get sweaty like they do in socks and tennis shoes. I am a size 10 and ordered a size 10 and they fit well. I am planning on getting my husband a pair of the men's shoes as he was very jealous of my Vegas shoes and we are heading to Disney this summer so that will be perfect!

Great Shoe!
I received my shoes this morning and couldn't have been more pleased. The fit is great, they feel great, and look great! The only problem I have noticed so far is my foot seems to want to slide back in them, but I am hoping that after I break them in a little more that this won't happen. It has great arch support which is always a plus for me! I am already in love with these shoes and plan on buying another pair!

comfie shoe but the color is off
I got these shoes after my sister raved about hers. Living in the great northeast I haven't had the opportunity to wear these shoes outdoors yet, but they feel great wearing around the house. They felt a little narrow by the pinky toe when I first tried them on but after wearing them a little bit that went away. I'm usually a 5.5 in sandals (in fact, Keens usually run big for me) but these fit perfectly both in length and width.
My only complaint is that the nile/grey is not as pictured - instead of a pale yellow they're more of a pale lime green - I'll keep them anyway, the price was right!

Good Experience
This shoe fits, but it feels like my heel keeps wanting to slide off. I'm hoping after wearing these shoes more this will go away & I just need to get used to the shoe. Very comfortable otherwise.

best outdoor/everyday sandal ever
I worn my pair of WWS (BlacK) almost everyday the moment i recd this from mail. It very comfortable having a runner's feet- wide and problem areas +pronator. I have to say, it provided me proper arch support and proper fit by tightening the laces! I'm considering buying another pair- when we moved to India. you can't get wrong with this brand and pair! I am very pleased !

More stylish than Newport, but narrower
Whispers definitely run more narrow than Newports, but my feet are narrow, so it's not a problem. I always take a 9 1/2 in Keenes, and they fit fine, but seem a bit shorter. There is also less arch support and tread. However, the shoes are lighter in weight and less clunky-looking than Newports; I'll wear them to work and probably live in them this summer. The brown color looks nice, and is easy to match with other colors. They'll be fine for casual wear and light walking, but when I do serious hiking, I'll put on my Newports.
I love the easy clean-up and toe protection of Keene sandals; they are comfortable, attractive, well-designed shoes that will hold up for years. They stay on my feet better than my Chacos.

a feminine-looking Keen sandal
This is my favorite Keen sandal. It does everything the Newport H2 and the Venice H2 can do, but with a decidedly more feminine style. It is great for hiking, kayaking and canoeing, like the other 2, but it is much lighter on the feet. This make a huge difference when trying to swim against a river current. It also looks great with a dress, not heavy and clunky. This Keen also runs true to size. I am usually an 8 1/2 or 9 in most shoes and the Whisper 9 is perfect. I need a 9 1/2 in the Venice and a 10 in the Targhee and other Keen hiking boots. I do have fairly wide feet and the width is fine, but the adjustability makes it a good fit for most widths.

Comfortable right out of the box
I got my Whispers today, put them on and went hiking for 2-1/2 hrs. They were comfortable from the first minute and they have been comfortable all day. I don't want to take them off! I got the tan and violet ones and I think they are pretty for a sandal with toe protection--I have never had a sandal with toe protection before. I'll put them to the test this summer!

Comfortable while breaking in
Bought these for a trip to Belize in April, so I've just been wearing these to break them in. They do seem very comfortable, even though they are a big long. I bought my normal sneaker size, which is an 8 1/2, and there is a bit of room. But a half size smaller may have been too tight, so I'm going to keep this size. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but based on the reviews of quality and the multi-tasking ability of these shoes, they seem to be a perfect match for any vacation that involves a mix of hiking, swimming, etc. The price wasn't bad, either.

Great Value, and Great Customer Service!
I had always heard about Keen Sandals, so I bought some for our upcoming trip to Hawaii. I purchased size 8, which is the size I use for hiking and walking shoes, but it was a little big. I returned that pair right away and ordered size 7-1/2, which fits just great. The lesson is to buy the size you buy for other sandals. But I do want to comment on the great customer service at Altrec -- they are very quick to reply to emails, and they really aim to please the customer. Both orders arrived very quickly, and the process of returning the first pair and ordering the replacement pair was painless. I will definitely buy from Altrec again!

Can't wait for Spring
I read all the excellent reviews on Keens, and bought my first pair hoping they will be everything everyone says! I live on a farm and do all my own barn chores and gardening. In the summer, wearing flip flops is putting the health of your toes at risk. I do it, but it's a dangerous risk around with unruly alpacas and horses. And digging with a shovel in flip-flops is ill-advised at best.
I bought these hoping for something more stable and shoe-like, that I can get wet, yet clean up easily and dry quickly. The price seemed a bit dear, but if they fit the bill I am willing to pay it. I've put the Whispers on and wandered around the house and the comfort is superb. They are light, sturdy and cute enough to run around town in. I really like how they look on my foot given my practical uses for them. They do run true to size. I am between an 8 and an 8 1/2. I ordered a pair of the Waimea Flip-Flops in an 8 and the Whispers in an 8 1/2. The flip flops were adorable, but too small. So they are sadly going back.
Of course, I have to wait until it gets warmer to really put these to the test, but if they clean up as well as other reviewers say, I will be a VERY happy campler. I'm happy enough now to go ahead and order another pair of Keens while they are on sale.

Protective footwear for a beachside or trial
The Keens Whisper sandals are excellent in their design. They protect your toes from any kind of damage. They serve best for the beaches and hiking on trails during summers where there are chances that you will collect pebbles in your footwear. They easily dry and doesn't smell. I am satisfied by the design and fabric but a little bit expensive.

Women's Whisper Sandal
I purchased these sandals for my wife as a Christmas gift. She has been wanting a pair the Whisper Sandal for a while, but never purchased.
The sandals arrived within about 3 days with no issues. The sandals fit true to size and are true to size. She is 5'6" and weighs about 120 pounds, and usualy has some difficulty getting shoes to fit properly, but these fit great! She loves the orchid colored trim on the sandal and finds them very comfortable. She wanted these for hiking and around town use. Because it is winter in Chicago, she will not be putting these to the full test until spring, however, her sister has had the same sandal for a couple of years now and they wear well and are extremely comfortable which is why my wife wanted them.

Terrific Fit!
Fits and forms to your feet- not too wide! This shoe is "true to size" so there is no need to order down or up. I am on my feet all day and have had heel spurs and major pain and this shoe is COMFORTABLE. I plan on buying another pair! LOVE THIS SHOE!

Great Shoes size problems
Just got my Keen whisper shoes in the post today for a trip to Costa Rica. Loved the shoes the color and they styling were great. These shoes will be perfect for my trip they are light weigh and will dry out quickly when they get wet. The only problem I would have to say with the shoes is that from the site and all the review I was told to order a 1/2 size bigger that my normal shoes size as the shoes ran small. Unfortunately this did not work for me the shoes came in and are too big so I will be returning them for a smaller size. I would suggest before ordering go and try some on so that you get the right fit.

Love these!
I love the lightness of this shoe. It looked like it would be heavier than they really are! Love the light green color that I got and they fit pretty true to size. The only thing I dont like about them is having to loosen the strap in the back to get them on everytime. I would like if they just slipped on my foot, but I guess having the adjusting strap makes them fit better and not get too loose. I also like that they are very protective on your feet. you just cant do the same things in flip flops that you can do in these sandals...very versitile. Overall a great purchase!

I have a wide foot. So the shoe did not fully cover the sides of my foot. If you have a regular or narrow foot, then this shoe will fit well.

Not quite as awesome as other designs
I love Keens and wear them as often as weather permits. I also own Newport and Venice designs. The Whispers fit just a little bit differently. In the equivalent size, they seem to be longer and narrower than the others. I'm sure this will work great for some, but sunk this pair to last-pick on sandal days at my house. Still comfortable and well-built.

I love my new Whispers. I have Keen hiking boots which I am very happy with so I didn't hesitate to try another Keen product. I wasn't disappointed. I took them out of the box and they haven't left my feet. They are light weight too. I haven't tested them in water yet but the fit and comfort are great.

I am the only reason these aren't perfect!
I love these shoes! I have never worn Keens before but had seen a bunch of my outdoorsy buddies sporting them. A few days before a camping trip I ordered 2 pairs. One a half sized smaller than the other. Once I tried them on and decided that the smaller ones would "stretch" I opted to return the others. After wearing them my entire trip (water, sand, dirt, campfire soot, etc included) there wasn't an ounce of permanent stretch. I suppose that is a sign of quality - apparently one I was hoping didn't exist in these shoes. Seriously, it is my fault that I can't give these a perfect rating. It is getting cooler here, but I think I am going to keep the other pair too...that way I am set for the next warm outing. Oh yeah, I have big feet...size 11. I was worried that these would make my feet look even bigger. No way! The thinner straps and seemingly narrower profile look great. My husband says I am addicted to Nikes...watch out honey - here come the Keens!!

Whisper Sandals are Keen!!
These sandals are awesome! I have had a couple foot surgeries and have to be careful with what shoes/sandals I buy. I also have wide feet and these sandals are quite roomy and the adjustable feature is great. These sandals are a perfect fit and are extremely comfortable. I have had many compliments on them.

Great shoes!
I bought these shoes for a trip to Costa Rica, where I would be hiking, whitewater rafting, going to the beach, and traveling non-stop (little time for shoes to dry). They were great! I wore them pretty much everyday for 10 days. They dried quickly after being submerged during rafting, and they were completely fine for hiking, with or without socks. The only thing was, about 15 days after I started wearing them, one of the outside pieces on the ankle started to come off--the thread was unraveling. Altrec.com would have done a return/exchange with free shipping, but they were out of my color and size, so I would have lost my overall great shoes. So I filed a warranty claim with Keen, which gave me a promotion code for a new pair of shoes. Glad for that!

I Love This Shoe!
I've been wearing this shoe doe the last year. It is the only shoe I wore for our entire 12 day vacation that included hiking, swimming, walking, site seeing, water parks, etc. It is the most comfortable all-purpose shoe I've ever worn.

They exceeded my expectations
My Keen Whisper Sandals have not left my feet since they arrived. Since I have bunions and heel problems the Podiatrist recommended closed toe and heel shoes. These Keens are perfect for the foot issues I have been experiencing. My feet are fully supported. They are very light weight and fit like a glove. The toe box is a little wide but perfect for the bunions!

Great walking sandal!
I've worn these every day since I bought them, and I do about 5 miles a day of city walking. They are comfortable for walking long distances, and cool enough for the hot outdoors but warm enough for the air-conditioned indoors. Good toe protection and secure fit around the heel. I found them to be true to size.

quirky and comfortable
No break-in period required. The red color is catchy. It may not be the easiest shoe to wear with all outfits unless you are a casual dresser 100% of the time. The size is about a 1/2 size small but still fits well since you can tighten it with the straps.

fit horrible
I usually LOVE Keen shoes. My entire family has a pair...4kids hubby and I. So when I saw the new WHISPER sandal I ordered myself two pair... one with a strap on back, one without a strap... THEY DO NOT FIT CORRECTLY. Right size, but my foot hangs off the back and the top part of my foot does not go all the way up into the top part of the shoe. I have tried to tighten the strings which helps a little, but hurts too bad to keep that way. I'm so disappointed because they look great. We have been on a year long trip around the U.S. camping and hiking with 4 small kids and Keens are great shoes... just didn't have luck with this pair :(

These shoes are fantastic for hiking on rough trails and crossing streams. Wading rivers--no sweat. You still slip on those algae-covered rocks, but the grip is better than anything else out there. Very comfortable.

Good support, lightweight, versatile
I love these whisper sandals. They are very lightweight and have great support. The size is a little "loose" or wide in the toe area, even though I ordered my true size which is 8. But this isn't very bothersome at all. Quality is excellent. They work well with or without a sport sock. I enjoy wearing them without socks when I'm bike riding! Great sandals, just a little on the narrow side!
Comfortable sandal, true to size. Definitely more on the narrow side as compared to their other sandals such as the Newport.

Love the shoe
I have a really high arch, I think I should have purchased a smaller size because it's hard to get my toes all of the way to the front. Other than that I love the shoes!!

Women's Keen Whisper
very comfortable shoe! i just wore it recently to climb the Mayan Ruins in Mexico & it was perfect for that journey! i never had any difficulties...it was just like wearing tennis shoes & socks. This is an incredibly comfortable shoe. It is also easy to clean!! I LOVE KEEN shoes!!

Keen sandals - Excellent
I ordered these for our daughter's birthday after she was admiring a pair that I bought for myself about one year ago. She loves them, fit well, comfortable and stylish. Keen Whisper Sandal Black/Gargoyle
I ordered a pair of these sandals for my girlfriend & she totally loves them. Said they are the most comfortable & lightweight sandal she has ever worn and plans to order another pair soon. Altrec had the best price of all internet sites we checked out.

Great sandals!
Wearing these shoes is like going barefoot! I love the beet color--the ft is true to size. I want this shoe in other colors!

My wife has very narrow feet and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable and they do not slide around and she likes the turquoise color

Great shoes, especially for the narrow footed.
I like the Whisper due to it's slimmer fit and appearance. The first time I wore them we went on a hike through the town and they were comfortable from the start. I ordered the size I normally wear and they fit just shy of too big. I would recommend ordering your regular size and then exchange if needed. Thank you Altrec for the fast shipping.
