Kelty has been making affordable and quality gear since 1952. Kelty's sleeping bags are available in down and synthetic fill. Here is a breakdown of the differences to help you make the right decision.

Down Fill: Soft with a comfortable feel, down has a better warmth-to-weight ratio than synthetic sleeping bags.

•Advantages: comfortable feel, unmatched thermal efficiency, high compressibility

•Disadvantages: does not maintain warmth when wet, longer life span

Synthetic Fill: Synthetic bags have the ability to maintain insulating properties when wet.

•Advantages: superior when wet, little maintenance required

•Disadvantages: Less thermal efficiency than down, lower compressibility than down

Kelty Sleeping Bags are made at a range of different temperature ratings from -15 degrees to 55 degrees. The temperature rating given on the sleeping bag is the temperature that you will feel chilled at for a given sleeping bag. Generally you want a sleeping bag that is a couple degrees lower in rating then the lowest temperature you are going to use it in.

Kelty sleeping bags are made in both rectangular and mummy bags. Mummy bags taper more around your body and therefore are a bit more constricting. They do use les material and therefore are lighter weight and more compressible then rectangular bags.
