Very Bright & Versatile
June 02, 2012
This lamp is extremely bright and creates very good light where you need it - and not where you don't! What I particularly liked about this lamp is that you can aim the light wherever you want to use it. It will create a bright, even light and makes working in the dark a breeze. What I also appreciate is that because you can use the light directionally, it will not light up the surrounding areas that you don't intend to light up. This makes it very camping-friendly in that you can light up your area without shining a bright light at your neighbors. The construction feels pretty sturdy, and includes a comfortable handle to hold the lamp. When holding the handle, you can simply point the panels forward to light your way. This is especially handy for trips to the restrooms, or around the campgrounds. My only complaint is with the dimming method Kelty used. Rather than being able to dim the panels, they instead opted to simply shut off one of the panels. By running one panel instead of two, it does in fact dim the amount of light coming from the unit. However one lamp is still very bright even with one panel lit. It would be much more effective if you could simply dim the panels. I would have gladly given the unit 5 stars had it the ability to dim more effectively. That one complaint aside, it does a fantastic job in creating bright, even light. It feels well constructed and runs on AA batteries - which are always available in my house. I would most definitely recommend this lamp for it's great combination of sturdy and compact design, light weight, excellent light dispersion, and unique versatility.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: poor dimming functionalityBlack and White.
