The baby loves it
We bought this for our 8 month old. She really just loves it. My main problem is everyone stopping me because the baby is so happy back there.
actually my only problem would be that i'm 6'2 and the belt is too high. it's right over the middle of my belly button. and for me. and being a wildland firefighter. we like our belts around our waist. i can wear it and it feels reasonably comfortable but i think it should come in more then 1 size. either way i'll use it and the baby loves it. and my wife is 5'4 and it fits her perfectly.
the positioning of the belt is the main thing that keeps this from being 5 star for me.

Very nice pack for parents of small children
I am a very avid hiker and backpacker. I bought this pack for my sister as she recently had a new baby. We looked at some other off-brand packs before purchase and they just don't compare to the quality of construction and features. It's like having a full feature backpack with all of the adjustments that happens to carry a child too. Very comfoartable to wear and plenty of room for everything an a day hike.

Good quality
Nice soft carrier/pack
Will be hugely useful for beach outings. Well constructed, lightweight but holds all you'd want to carry, leaving hands free to mind the other members of our brood

Great travel option!
The Kelty Kids 3.0 carrier is a great travel option for the 'urban traveler'. It's compact enough to throw in the front seat of your car, and has a strong enough frame to carry around your baby and accessories.
We've used our carrier on hikes, walks and zoo visits and love it. Our baby is heavy for his age so the back and hip support are a great benefit to us. The baby sits comfortably in his harness and loves looking out from up high. He didn't care too much for the sun shade, but adjusted to it quickly. The changing pad is an all-in-one station setup which is so handy to have along. There's enough extra room in the pack cavity to carry along a food bag, wallet, camera and extra change of baby clothes. And all the little pockets around the carrier allow for keys, phone, toys, water & little extras to be in grabbing range.
We would say the downsides are the questionsble zipper strength - they seem to get caught easily going over the arc shape. Also, our 8 month old is tall for his age, so even though his weight is only halfway to maximum capacity, his length seems to set him close to the harness' maximum setting. We are hopeful that this carrier will hold him through at least 18 months... we'll see.
All in all, I wish we had it when our little one was 6 months, and would highly recommend this to anyone who is active outdoors and needs something more than a front/back carrier, or has a heavier baby.

Great for your littleone
If you want to take your little one out on the trail with you, I recommend this item. You can safely secure your little tiger so they are comfortable on the trail and have all the gear to keep them happy. I like to get out and and rack the miles and my little tiger fell asleep after the first 20 minutes and had enjoyed the ride.

we like it
I am impressed with the quality of this backpack. We have used it for short hikes and neighborhood walks. The straps are a little stiff in the shoulders, but I assume they will break in. The amazon.com listing said it included a mirror, but it did not come with one. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase.

good backpack
This is a very good backpack. Distributes the weight well and is comfortable to wear. Holds my son securely. One complaint: A hydration bladder would be nice.

Love this - for travel & around town
Love this product - looks like a backpack, but doubles as a child carrier. Interior frame makes it easy to get around and you don't feel like you should be out in the mountains when you really just want to go to the grocery. Low profile so child doesn't sit high above your head. Love the removable diaper bag (Kelty went away from that on the 2010 model).

Outstanding Product!
This has been such a huge relief for my family and I. We go for walks with our dog and baby, but previously i had to take the stroller and the dog. You can imagine how cumbersome that would be. This pack is easy to use, and super comfortable. The back support is great, and there is plenty of room in the actual back pack portion to hold lots of gear. I highly recommend this pack!

Light weight, convenient, hot.
It took approximately 20 minutes of adjusting straps and height adjustment to get a great fit, once complete it is very comfortable. The instructions clearly state not to use the pack with an infant under 16lb, I wonder if Kelty is using a standard assumption that infants under 16lb wouldnt be able to sit unassisted/fit the pack? This is not true in my case; my daughter is 6 mo 2wk, 15lb and 26.5, the shoulder adjustment is on the 2nd lowest setting because of her height and she rides fine. I have not been able to use the assist loops created for the pack, at 53 my arms are not long enough to continuously hold the handle behind my kids head while putting the pack on and the one up front is obstructed by the sun hood no matter how it is placed when installing the hood. I just have to put the pack on by lifting by the straps and swinging the pack, slowly. It would be better if the shoulder adjustments had adjustable clips/clasps rather than having to adjust them each time with an eager wiggling child. We live in central TX where our spring/summer night low temps havent been below 75F in a long while with the days being 95-100+F; this pack is hot for both my daughter and me. The convenience of being able to clean house, garden, and do light chores around our property makes the heat of the pack a trade off. Perhaps cooler, strong materials could be used similar to the true hiking packs? I would have paid more for a cooler, small pack. The hood attaches easily; however, is not adjustable its either on or its off. There is adequate storage for me to use this as my FT diaper bag. This pack really helps keep my little one involved, but out of the reach of plants/animals/grocery shelves/etc. that my front carriers allowed her full access.
