La Sportiva N.A. Men's Fireblade Trail Running Shoe

Lightweight performance trainer for any type of trail running. Light, flexible and sticky. This shoe is designed for Mountain Running(r). A sturdy heel cup mixed with a triple density midsole and a high tensile composite RockGuard protects the foot from gnarly terrain. The Fireblade is a stable, mid cushioned shoe ideal for mild pronaters and neutral runners.

Stretch mesh tongue guard keeps dirt, pebbles and trail debris out.

Great Shoe but ditch that neoprene tongue.
First, I really like this shoe. I have been running in the Slingshot for a while now and I needed to get a shoe that had a little more underneath since I'm starting to do ultras. Everything about this shoe performs well aside from the lacing system. One of the best things I liked about the Slingshot was the laces went to the toe. This accounted for that well known "glove-like fit" that you can't get with the fire-blade. I also don't care for the "neoprene" tongue. These two features take away fit control from the runner. It says "we know how your shoe should be adjusted." "The tongue will take care of it all." But they don't. And it doesn't. All in all, it's still on the A list, but I will be looking around when the new 09 stuff arrives. Maybe Inov8? Laces and tongues people! Your shoes are not that custom do do w/o them.
