Fit Tip: The Venom has an aggressively down-turned toe and a performance fit with high asymmetry (curvature of shoe). The Venom will stretch about a half a Euro size after six months of normal use.
Built with the same award-winning last on the lace-up Testarossa climbing shoe, La Sportiva's Venom shoe features the same slip- and lace-free fit and comfort found on previous Cobra climbing shoes. The result is a great last with an aggressive, asymmetrical toe, incredible sensitivity and nary a knot to untie. The phenomenal toe-hooking performance in the Vibram® Web Rubber upper was enough to impress the folks at Rock and Ice, resulting in an Editor's Choice award for "Best Steep-Rock Shoe." Climbing Magazine also gave the Venom high marks and their own Editor's Choice award. About the only thing left from the Cobra us the proven and reliable 3.5 mm. XSV sole and the ultra-sensitive 0.8 mm. Laspoflex midsole in forefoot, which is a great thing when you consider that you're shaving off almost two ounces of excess weight per pair. If you've never dared to try a slipper, this winner could unravel all of your laced-up fears.
A real surprise packet!
I bought a pair of venoms when my preferred pair of shoes were in need of a retread; They were on sale for less than half price at my local gym as the last pair so I figured they'd do while I waited for the other pair to come back...
They did more than "just do."
These shoes are so comfortable and yet so firm and responsive I don't get how this can be.
Now I love firm shoes and put up with the pain but with these shoes I find that I no longer have to worry about putting on a specific pair of shoes if I'm on a harder (for me route).
I can't say that I have ever come off a route because of the shoes. Not a single issues with them climbing thin face routes up to grade 27 (Ewbanks).
If you can get a pair, do it! They size about two sizes smaller than my normal climbing shoe size.
I love 'em!
favorite shoe of all time
Been a dedicated boulderer for 4.5 years and compete everytime I can.
This is the best shoe ive ever had for bouldering and over hanging routes. Tho I hated these on a slab route..
The heel isnt the best, but I've never popped the heel out just slips a bit. Make sure ur feet aren't sweaty when you're trying aggressive heel hoook problems.
Great Bouldering shoe
They have lasted me a while and aren't falling apart prematurely anywhere. The stretchy upper has held well and hasn't lost it's retention against my foot to stay tight. The only problem, but occurs with just about every slipper is the heel. Most of the time I can heel with no problem but on those really hardcore heels with a lot of pressure, I can slip. Never had the heel pop out, just slip a bit. Make sure you keep the shoe dry and not slimey and the heel should hold better.

Best bouldering shoe
This shoe edges in like no other shoe I've ever climbed in! The more you climb in these the more you like them! The first two days you climb in these, you realize how much they stick to tiny edges. The heel tends to slip off of holds if you don't get them small.
I wear 38.5 Testarossas, but I think 38 works good for these.
