I've been a contract lineman for over 20 years, and this is exactly the same hardware that is used on power and telephone poles, but with only a very few of the choices and options that are readily available in the industry. I can see where someone building infrastructure for climbing/training would incorporate these proven elements, having done so myself over the years. Pros - Very strong when loaded according to design, and relatively straightforward assembly. Heavy galvanizing will last many, many years. Cons - Heavy, and soft. These bolts will bend long before they break, especially if side-loaded. The thimble-eye (small) ends do not play well with many carabiners. You will need and want the square washers that are designed to go with these for most all installations, and extra nuts and/or pal nuts (lock nuts) to keep anything from backing out over time. Other thoughts - What is being offered here is way over-priced. The same and a much greater selection of options can be had oh so much cheaper with just a little searching. I was pretty shocked to see the mark-up here, actually. Also shocked to notice the lack of specs & application guidelines, or identification of the true manufacturer. The poor rating on this one comes from the bad overall value, incomplete selection, and lack of backing literature. Altrec is awesome though.
