good for flat ground
January 30, 2013
These little cleats are great for walking on icy sidewalks, but absolutely NOT for hiking or backpacking. They stay on pretty well when you're walking downhill because your foot is forced into the strap. But when you're walking downhill you really need more traction in your heel (not your instep#. When you're walking uphill the strap wants to slide right off your foot, which is a disaster. And when you're walking uphill you need more traction in your forefoot #not your instep). Instep crampons work only on relatively flat surfaces. Stick to your backyard or snowy neighborhood sidewalk with these, and get a better system for trail and/or backcountry hiking.
Pros: Lasts forever, Cons: Bad design, Low performanceJanuary 04, 2012
These are the greatest, most durable cleats and they give you the confidence to walk on snow and ice. I have owned a pair like this for many years and decided the clasp was wearing out so I bought another pair. Living in NH and having to deal with lots of snow and an icy driveway-I'd recommend these highly. I have never fallen!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
