I'd never worn Lowa shoes until I purchased the Renegade II Lo. I liked it so much I purchased the waterproof version GTX. My only recommendation is to try a half size up on the GTX. For some reason, the GTX version fits a bit small. Otherwise, the comfort, fit, support, and look of this shoe is spot on!

Great shoe, durable. But you need to order one size up. Also they come in a wide where Keen's dont, but Keens do run big so you will have to compare fit. Would recommend.

It's very comfortable and breathable. You can wear this low cut shoe not only when you go outdoors but also you go shopping and streets. The appearance of this shoe also show high quality and well design.

Lowa Renegade II

I have used the Lowa renegade for a couple of day hiking and weekend backpacking and found them to be comfortable. I was impressed by the heal support; even on very long dowhill treks, the shoes had very good support and cushion so much so that on the day after a long hike,my feet would not ache. One thing though I have noticed is that they seem to come smaller then most shoes. I am normally a size 9.5 but had to order a size 10.Other than this minor issue, I would recommend these shoes

Pro's - Solid construction. I was drawn to these because of the European design and manufacture, hoping they would last longer versus my recent experience with shoes manufactured in other parts of the world. I think they will. Con's - Eyelets are cut out of the leather upper and reinforced with a metal ring, rather than being an attached D-Ring, or similar device. Strings don't seem to smoothly slide through these openings making cinching up the laces rather difficult. To see th difference do a close up view of both the Lo GTX and the Mid GTX. It remains to be seen how long lasting the eyelet will be, but I am still recommending the shoe given the other solid design elements and a primary use on relatively flat, improved trails. If you want a great hiking boot, get the Renegade Mid GTX, which I also own.

This seems to be an excellent shoe, made to the highest standards. However, the sizing seems to run smaller than any shoe i have come across in my entire life, I have a size 12 and have never had to go up to a 13, EVER. But my 12's are being returned, as way too tight and i will try the 13's. I hope they will not be too big. Also i ordered the grey/blue pair, but i understand they do not have that color in size 13 so i will have to go with my 2nd choice in color, that is a shame when spending this much on a shoe. I will add that at least i can shop in confidence knowing altrec has such a good returm policy.

These shoes were a little difficult to break in. But once they were broken in they were great. I have trekked over 500 miles in these boots and there is still good tread left in the sole.

i bought the lowa renegade mid gtx about a year ago and wore them all over Yosemite last fall. they are light and fit like a glove. i had absolutely no foot fatigue. i was so pleased i got the renegade II lo gtx recently for lighter trips. i might note that in many shoes i wear 9.5 and 10 fit better in this brand.
