Thanks to a mix of leather and fabric, the Zephyr is breathable and durable without feeling bulky. Inside, a textile lining enhances air circulation and promotes internal climate control to maintain comfortable feet, even in the hottest conditions. The bi-injection PU midsole adds cushioning for all-day support and comfort, while the boot's mono-wrap design creates a snug, supportive fit and fosters an agile feel for scrambling and travel through rough terrain. The non-slip gummy rubber tread is equally adept on the street as it is for operations on the sand.

If you're looking for a light and comfortable hot weather hiker these Lowas are your ticket. The boots are incredibly grippy owing to their flexibility and the rubber compound used in the sole (not Vibram). Really a pleasure to be on the trail with these guys. Great looks, too. This model is without goretx so will waterproof with a spray and won't plan on using them in rainy weather. The absence of goretex keeps them cooler and lighter. The sole will probably not last as long as Vibram but well worth it given their overall performance. Wish the lacing system had the more common cleats at the top; these boots have eyeholes all the way up. Just a convenience and not sure if there's some reason these are like that since the Zephyr GTX has the cleats. Also believe these run small and a bit narrow. I normally wear 9.5 or 10 in a hiking boot and these are 10.5 and just right.
Pros: grippy, light, good looking, geared for hot weather, Cons: none yetUltra-light, no break-in, all-purpose boot

Being a former operator in the Marines I know the value of a good boot. The Zephyr is everything you want in a good boot. It's light enough to wear everyday and even use for maritime ops. It has excellent support. It has the sole material wrap up over the toe area so you don't rub through the leather when you're climbing. I wear the things in a t-shirt and jeans because they're so dang comfortable. Not only that but they also look really aggressive and cool. BUT, there are some things that I would change-1.Shoelaces suck, it's like they were spun out of yak hair and they were cut 12" too short. 2.They come in almost a full size smaller than advertised. If you're going to wear with regular socks, go a half-size bigger, big wool boot socks, full size. 3. They don't have water purge holes on the sides. Not extremely necessary, but it would help a bit.

get a half size larger
November 13, 2012
Watch out, you'll most likely need to order a half size larger. If you have wide feet you will also need a half size larger. Also, be cognizance of the gortex vs non gortex versions, as the gtx variant gets hot in the summer.

Best Boot ever.

This is my second pair, I should have bought multiple pairs I love them so much. Light weight, cool on feet, feel broken in day one. Trust me I have ran these boots through the ringer and the soles are almost bare, yet the rest of the shoe is in great condition except for being dirty. I have hiked, hunted, ran tactical courses and they wont ever make you stop. Click buy and never look back.
Light, comfortable boot

This boot is really light and has better ankle support than similar boots. Your heel sits against the back of the boot and doesn't move around a lot. They run a little small, hopefully some of the padding will compress. I wear an 11.5, got a 12 and it is still pretty tight. I would not consider this a heavy duty hiking boot, but a really nice assault boot.

Wish they came in wide. A little tight. Awesome product. There was NO break in period needed. Strong and sturdy yet comfortable.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityQuality Footware

I'm a fairly picky when it comes to my foot ware. I also have good circulation and my feet sweat. These boots do a great job of keeping my feet cool, while still providing good support and protection. They are comfortable from day one and light. Fit true to size. All around great summer boot!

a little short

Well these baby's look like the real deal, and better be for the price...I had some vasque breeze lite (gtx# boots previously, but they leaked in water so I got these. so far so good. Comfy, good looking boot, cant tell on durability but they look like they are built to last. only problem - I wear a size 13 and ordered a 13...my toe hits the end of the boot. after my first walk in these #to break them in) my toes were sore. so, order a 0.5 size bigger then you may normally - if you are lucky enough to have small enough feet where they offer half sizes that is...me I am not so lucky.
