When you're heading out on a backcountry ski approach to attempt a new ice route that just came in, the Mammut Laser Light Jacket for men matches your fast pace adventure. The hooded soft shell of Schoeller® DrySkin Extreme fabric is very durable, abrasion-resistant, breathable, and stretches with every big move you make. As you reach the upper basin, an innovative NanoSphere® finish that is water, stain and dirt-resistant, combines with the fleece liner to maintain warmth in the intensifying storm. Reaching the ice pillar base, you cinch up the attached soft-brimmed hood and adjust its one hand toggle as you give the monolith an upward glance. Locking in the Lycra® thumb loops, you double check your quick energy food stash in the two large front vent pockets and close up their water-resistant zip. With a tug on the adjustable elastic waist cord, you snug up the two-way water-resistant front zipper to close up the soft Micro-fleece chin guard on the Laser Light Jacket. Testing the first 30 feet, you down climb and strip your climbing skins, vowing to come back soon to share it with a buddy.

I bought this jacket to replace an Ibex wool soft shell that was stolen. I was looking for a jacket with good water repellency, warmth, and a built in hood. This jacket has all of the features that I required, and it looks good! The fit and finish of the jacket is superlative, zipper pulls have a bonded plastic cover over the paracord with each one having their own mini mammoth logo. When I bought it I thought it would be a warmer jacket, but it is only good down to about 45* (depending on activity levels). I also would like the hood to have a little more stiffness, akin to the Mountain Hardwear shell I have where the hood forms a hat. It could also use another interior pocket. Other than these small issues I am in love with this coat! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a highly breathable, and water resistant soft shell.

the fit is great, it seems very well made i bought this for a big mountain trip in peru. Cant wait to try it out it is wind proof and very light weight cant wait to try some technical climbing in it

This is a great all purpose jacket. It is a rugged little softshell, that stores well. Only draw back is that you need to wear a good base layer in the cold; but perfect for spring and late fall with just a t-shirt.

nice material and superb cut. finish is not so great and you get no pockets ... even the two front pockets cannot be used as pockets. Material performance seem to be ok (breathability, wind resistance). for the price i d like some pockets.
