Description

You’re not the type to let a little weather stand in your way and you live for the exercise of a good uphill climb as much as the joy of a descent through untracked pow. The Men's Mammut Alyeska Jacket likes your style. This ski jacket blocks weather like a hardshell and breathes like a softshell thanks to Gore-Tex® Soft Shell 3-Layer fabric. Inside is a soft brushed fleece lining that never feels clammy no matter how much of a sweat you have going as you bust through bottomless snow, breaking trail for your buddies in the rear. Unzip the pit zips for more airflow. On the way down, the helmet-compatible hood, removable powder skirt and stretchy Lycra cuffs keep the snow out. Multiple pockets have flash contrasting zippers with a unique, modern style befitting your freeriding skills. Whether you’re skiing or snowboarding, testing your skills in the frontcountry or the backcountry, the Mammut Alyeska Jacket for men has articulated elbows and a layer-friendly regular fit to give you the unrestricted movement you’ll need if you take it on an alpine climb when your local’s pass is blacked out over the holidays.

Yepper, it's the one.

Picked up this coat earlier in the season. A great jacket by Mammut. I've always been impressed with the quality of their products but in the past have had issues with their sizing. I'm 5'11" 175 lbs and am normally a medium/large. I picked up the Large and am very pleased with it's size. The Medium was too snug and short, the large's length is great and it is not too bulky around the chest. This jacket has pockets galore and all the zippers are heavy duty. The one item I have yet to understand is the second 1/4 zipper at the front, under the chin. I don't see what the purpose of this is. The water protection is great, no issues in the heavy, wet sierra cement I deal with. The wind protection is just as impressive.

Great jacket
January 19, 2012

This is great jacket. Highly waterproof, windproof, and highly breathable- even with the thin fleecy lining on the shoulder and back. The 3 ply Goretex is tough- Skiing in trees (or even gates), it stands up just fine. The quality is fantastic. Just 2 very minor shortcomings: 1)The "goggle" pocket is no such thing- It will never fit a goggle- it is big enough for just your money/ cards etc. And that is the only internal pocket. A second real goggle pocket/netting would be great. 2) As with so many other jackets, fleece, and other clothing, there is variation in sizing. No 2 mediums were the same in fit. No different from any other brand- but was hoping Mammut would be different- Oh Well. But overall it still is a great great jacket. One of the best.

Pros: Great design, Build quality
Cons: Cost
