Description

When you're on a multi-pitch climbing route or spending a mellower day cragging in the Alps, you want a stretchy, wind-resistant layer that won't get in your way. The Mammut Men's Ultimate Pro Softshell Jacket uses proven 3-layer Gore® Windstopper® Soft Shell fabric that has a new softer feel with a lighter surface weight so it takes up less space in your pack. A soft backing wicks moisture and feels supremely soft against the skin when layering over a T-shirt while its contoured cut offers an athletic, performance-centered fit. Does the involve some backpacking to reach it? The reinforced shoulder and arm panels resist abrasion to keep it looking excellent when you're resupplying in town for your next trip. Ready for active adventures in cool weather, this Mammut softshell jacket will keep you warm and mobile in the mountains.

Great Jacket. Since last year I've been trying to replace my awesome but worn out Mammut Clime Jacket that I've been wearing daily since 2005 and this comes close to that. I previously bought the Mammut Ultimate Advanced which I absolutely did not like because the sleeves are not articulated so the entire jacket rides up and bunches up whenever the arms are raised. I also returned the poorly designed Mammut Alto Jacket which is awkward fitting and made of a stiff, heavy fabric that is not windproof. The Ultimate Pro has the best fabric (light and silky to the touch but still firm) and protection (the highest collar and longest sleeves). It also fits the best. Only thing is the sleeves are very long for the sizes due to the integrated thumb loop and wrist gaiter. I would've preferred the thumb loops to be retractable or hidden inside the cuff. Here the sleeves are about 3 inches longer than normal for the size to accommodate this seldom used feature. Also the jacket is NOT breathable so do not expect to do anything of an alpine ascent nature or strenuous while wearing it. Gore Windstopper is not the best breathable fabric and this jacket doesn't have pit zips (only ventilation pockets) to alleviate body heat and moisture. There is also no belay zipper. This is more of a Winter/Late Fall casual fleece that wont get worn in Spring or for anything activity above light hiking/camping.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, great fabric, light weight, 100% weather proof
Cons: Cost, no pit zips, no belay zipper, overly long sleeves
