Great Headlamp
March 05, 2013
I researched all the headlamps out there, with a goal of finding something that was very lightweight, packable on a backpacking trip, and powerful enough to see all. The Mammut Headlamps are some of the lightest at around 2 oz, but also the brightest in that weight range. It's the same weight as the 2-LED t-base, but twice as bright with 4-LEDS. Thus the t-trail lamp hits that sweet-spot of light and bright. It doesn't have a spotlight, it's flood only, which is actually fine for tasks around the campsite, as well as walking on a trail in the dark. I particularly like the feature where you have to "double-click" the power button to turn it on, eliminating the risk of accidentally turning it on in your pack. I always thought that the Petzl headlamps look somewhat clumsy, if not a bit ugly, but the Mammut design is clean and looks attractive.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueBlack, Ivy and Salsa.
