Description

When your fast and light day hike to the summit of South Sister involves strong winds and a chance of being in a dense cloud at the top, the Marmot Men's Altitude Jacket will help keep you warm, dry and moving comfortably at 10,000 feet. Made from Marmot M2 shell fabric, this softshell fleece jacket is well-suited for a variety of aerobic activities in moderate to cold weather. Water-resistant, wind-resistant, durable, warm and highly breathable, M2 fabric is the perfect balance between weather resistance and breathability. A chest pocket, an inside pocket and 2 lined zippered front pockets keep snacks, gloves and your hat handy and a DriClime®-lined chin guard eliminates chin-chafe when fully zipped up. Angel-Wing Movement™ lets you raise your arms without lifting your jacket to make scree scrambles easy. Don't forget a pair of leather gloves for the scree-ski back down, you'll want to keep the Marmot Altitude Jacket for men in one piece for your North Sister climb next weekend.

Perfect Jacket
December 19, 2011

I've had the jacket for less than a week, but still wanted to offer this early review because I'm so pleased with this purchase. First, the small was a perfect fit. (I'm about 5'8", 155, athletic build - endurance running is my sport). It's not too tight and enough room for a sweater/hoodie under. Second, the jacket is well made. You can tell from the minute you pull it out of the packaging that this product will last. Finally, I've had a chance to wear it in high 20s to low 40s. With the lower temps, it's great with a second layer; plenty of warmth. At the higher end, the jacket provides plenty of warmth with a single layer. I highly recommend the jacket.

Quality Unsacrificed
October 15, 2012

The jacket is made from outstanding high tech materials and provides a loose fit to accommodate layering when desired. The design is extremely effective in denying access to undesired environment elements. You just can't go wrong with Marmont.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value

Great Jacket, Wrong Size
May 20, 2011

I ordered this jacket when I was looking for another throw-in-your-trunk jacket that'll do in a pinch on a light rain kinda day. It's a great jacket but the fit for me wasn't right. I'm 5'8", 170, and I like lots of room in the shoulder of my jackets because I don't like a binding feeling when I'm moving. The XL was a little too roomy for me so I'm ordering the L and hoping that'll do better for me. Consequently, since that 1 star rating was based solely on the size, standby -- keep you posted on how that L works out...

Great Purchase
January 05, 2011

I bought this jacket for my brother as a x-mas present. He absolutely loved it and has had nothing but good things to say about it since. He was looking for a stylish jacket with a great fit that would keep him warm and dry in Iowa winters. He is 6'1'' and about 240 lbs and and XL was a great fit for him.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Marmot Altitude Jacket
August 05, 2011

I have this jacket in black and graphite (grey). Love the european style fit and protection in rain, wind or even a cool breeze. Wear it all the time in San Francisco, which has unpredictable weather.

Great Buy
January 01, 2011

I received this as a Christmas gift and I love it. I'm 6'3" and pretty thin and the large fits perfect. It's big enough to wear a sweater under it, but also fits good with just a t-shirt on. It's also just thick enough to keep you warm but not get too hot. And the way it is cut so that you're sleeves don't go all the way down your arm when you put them above your head it great. It would be a great jacket for climbing on a chilly fall day.

Great Marmot product!!!!!!!!!
February 28, 2012

Once again Marmot continues to put out great products. I have owned many different brands of outdoor gear and I have to say by first hand use, marmot out does the rest. I have a few other marmot coats and wanted a mid weight soft shell coat. This coat is great for casual wear to taking on a mountain climb in fierce snow, rain, and wind. For those people who wonder about size of the coat here ya go. I am 6 foot tall, 200lbs, very athletic fit. I got the large in this and it fits true to size. You can not go wrong with this coat or any other marmot product. Happy adventures to all!

Great softshell
December 22, 2010

This jacket by Marmot is of great quality and excellent design. The fit is great. I have tried many other brands including TNF and Mountain Hardware, and Marmot seems to be just as good if not better. You can't beat the lifetime warranty from Marmot as well. I will buy Marmot products again. The fit is fantastic. If your the 6'2" 235-240lbs range with a muscular build then this jacket would be a great jacket in XL.

Nice Softshell!
December 28, 2010

I wanted a lighter jacket as I am wanting to use at for layering. Wore this jacket with a fleece mid-layer in a 20 degree bike ride and it protected me from the 5-10 mile/hr wind and cold. Also got caught in heavy snow and rain and kept me warm and dry. Plan on going biking in colder weather to see how far I can push it.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Perfect Softshell Jacket
January 29, 2012

I've always been a big fan of the MHW softshells but their offwidth jackets are cut way to short in the torso. Decided to try the Marmot Altitude and have been thoroughly pleased with quality and fit. A much normal length. Also the jacket does have a light fleece type insulation in the enter lining. Marmot M-series fabrics are designed for moving light and fast. They combine stretchable, water repellent, abrasion resistant and highly breathable shell materials with insulating buffer materials on the inside. M2 shells are the ideal balance between weather resistance, breathability and thermal protection. They are appropriate for a wide range of aerobic use in moderate to cold conditions.

Excellent Product
January 19, 2012

Marmot comes through with high quality products. Jacket is highly wind resistant, water/snow resistant and warm - as advertised. Does allow for layering underneath. Arm holes/sleeves are a bit snug and can catch sleeves of layer(s). Otherwise, great fit. Would highly recommend.

Great jacket, stylish too
December 19, 2010

Last year I bought my spouse a sleek black jacket by Speiwak for Christmas because I was so tired of him going out in grungy old sweatshirts. The jacket was terrible, within a few months it totally split open, and never stood up to the wind in San Francisco. The jacket was stylish and sexy, but nothing else could be said for it. While this jacket isn't quite as sleek it still combines style with all the features you need in a good jacket. It fits pretty well, is very warm, resisting our cold bay area winds, and stands up to the rain. His only complaint is that the jacket is a little stiff, and tight in the sleeves. He attempted to wear it over his suit jacket the other day, and couldn't get it on without his sleeves bunching up inside.

Nice Fabric
March 03, 2012

Like the look and feel of the fabric. Quite water reistant. My XL is snug at the shoulder and generous in the arm length and body fit. Not a problem but feels slightly tapered. As in producet description no interior or exterior chest pocket. Has pocket in left arm. Overall this is a stylish and functional shell.

Pros: Build quality
