Great jacket for spring/fall outdoors activity
April 20, 2012
I got this jacket just before a traveling to San Francisco in early spring, it was very comfortable, packable, and held up well during some cold SF nights. Back in the east coast, it has been my favorite jacket during the season, and hopefully will serve me well in the fall. I haven't used it for strenuous activity, just regular about town casual use. Holds up well with light rain, but it won't be as effective in strong winds. I got an XL (need to work on the waist line...), so the sleeves are a bit longer, but the cuffs' velcro straps keep everything in place. The best feature has to be the nice protection and warmth you get around the neck when the jacket is fully zipped-up, no need for a scarf or extra garments.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, packableWrite a review for the Marmot Approach Jacket here.
A+ FANTSATIC JACKET!

GREAT athletic fit and every bit as high quality as any of my Arcteryx or North Face Gear! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I really like this jacket. It is light enough to wear a ton of different places but really warm enough when you need it. Great jacket over all the only thing i would say is a downside are the sleeves are super long but it still is fine due to the velcro on the cuffs.
Pros: Great design, PerformanceGreat Jacket!

The best thing about this jacket is that it fits me like a glove. I am 5'8", 147 lbs. and size medium. I needed a light-weight versatile jacket to trek around town and the occasional hike and this one fits the bill in terms of performance and style. It is not windproof but does keep the chill off nicely and if you wanted to have a light layer underneath, it is a slightly snug fit because the cut is trim/athletic...but not too bad. I like the simple lines and just enough pockets and logo branding not to go overboard. Oh, and did i mention that it is very comfortable?... with no hot-spots anywhere....highly recommended!

Nice light shell

A great jacket at a great deal. Size might have run a little small.
Very nice jacket but lightweight

I bought this jacket for just running around town and such. It is a beautiful jacket and very comfortable, but a little lighter weight than I was hoping. I ended up returning it and getting the North Face apex bionic which is a little thicker. I would recommend this jacket as long as you didn't need too much protection from elements.

Light, Stretchable, Water resistant, Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great jacket. Runs a bit small, and is made to be form fitting so you don't have a bunch of extra baggy fabric slowing you down or getting in your way. It is stretchable so it is very comfortable being form fitting. Not waterproof, but it is not meant to be. It will keep you dry in a short light rain and is very breathable. Very happy with mine.
Great looking, but...

We are huge Marmot fans - loved this, but it was a little too light weight for a ski shell and unlike most Marmots, it runs true to size, so this was too big. Think we'll go with the Gravity next.

Great

the Approach jacket is a great jacket. Im about 5'8 and a small 165 lbs and the small size fit well. It fit nice and snug with out any bunching up, although prob the only thing that could go under it for warmth is a 100 wt fleece or something similar. The M3 outer material works best between 45 and 65 degrees. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who needs a good softshell for those in-betweener days
great jacket but not form fitting

Great jacket, better than I expected.

I purchased and wore this jacket for a recent trip to Montana in summer. It performed well under a variety of conditions which ranged from cool 34f mornings to windy days on top of peaks. I wore either a thin baselayer or t-shirt and was comfortable even on a 40Mph quad-bike trip to town. I wish it had one inside pocket. I am 5'6" 160Lbs and the medium fit perfectly if not a little tight. After about 30 minutes in light rain you will start to feel damp. It is only slightly water resistant.
Outstanding jacket

This is a comfortable, all around great jacket for all activities to include cycling, running, hiking or just to wear on a cool night while sitting on the patio. Highly recommend!!
Very Good Jacket
February 20, 2008
The jacket fit is exactly as described and warmer than I anticipated. The jacket is only rated as water resistant but I have been running (trails/roads)in it for roughly 2 weeks in rain and snow. I have stayed dry from the elements but tend to get a lot of moisture buildup inside the jacket. The problem I have is that it is slightly less breatheable than I had hoped. It might be better if it had armpit vents to aid in air circulation. Overall it is a very good product and serves its purpose of keeping me warm and dry from the outside with only one extra layer.
Appear to be a great jacket
December 12, 2009
I got the jacket and my initial impression is that it compares a much more expensive softshell jacket that cost a lot more. In fact, it is very comparable to my TNF Summit series windproof jacket. However, I returned it because the Limestone color is more like a light greenish color... Appears to be a great jacket though.
Great Shell for Sports - Running, Biking, Hiking.
January 05, 2009
Terrific shell can be used as either inner (if you fit it snugly) or outer shell (larger fit) as I have. It's perfect to slice through wind and cold, yet is very breathable, making it perfect for high activity. It's light enough to pack and go along on any trip, bike or run.
Leadville Jacket from Marmot is better
February 13, 2009
I have bought both the Approach jacket and the Leadville jacket. Recently, I wore the Approach on a windy & rainy day in Wichita and the temp was about 40 degrees. In short, I became cold quickly. The wind goes right through this jacket. I was disappointed with this tight fitting jacket. Also there is no stretch to this jacket. The Leadville is far superior to the Approach jacket. But if you want a jacket that just looks cool then this is it.
