This is the jacket to take out into the storm. It is a bomber style (kinda short) and it is too bulky for layering either under or over (but it doesn't need it). Mine is size L and measures 29" long in the back, weighs 1284g. It is wp, windproof and breathable (I can vouch for its wp: you can drench it and stay dry) and it is really warm. It has a load of 650 down in it so it is bulky. It compares to a well known very expensive bomber that shows up in the movies, and the biggest difference I can see is that it runs large. I usually wear an xl in this type of jacket and the L is slightly large on me. There's nothing missing: it has, zipoff down adjustable hood, zippered inside pocket and knit cuffs and hem. Only weakness is that the handwarmer pockets have no insulation on the weather side. BUT it's a bargain and it will keep you warm and dry in the worst weather!!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great valueWarm comfortable

This jacket fit great with enough room to layer. It's totally warm with the 650 proof down. The jacket at first sight looks heavy and uncomfortable but the jacket is very light weight, comfortable and I love that the jacket never rides up no matter what direction I swing my arms.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGreat jacket!

I love my Marmot Aviate down jacket! It's very warm and comfortable. Very lightweight and not bulky like some down jackets. The handwarmer pockets have a nice lining making it feel warm to the touch unlike some jackets on the market. The quality seems quite good. I like that you can detach the hood. I'm 6 ft tall and 190 lbs. The large I bought is a little oversize for me; but I believe the medium might be a little too snug. I would highly recommend this jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityGreat jacket for the price

The Aviate is exactly what I expected it to be. A light, warm, down-filled jacket for the extreme temperatures of winter. It's the perfect jacket for trekking through the city in those below-freezing temps. Definitely recommend!
Pros: Great design, Build qualityAviate Jacket is great product

Bought jacket at end of season(March). Was looking for something stylish, yet casual and this is it all the way. Fit and finish,to use an auto analogy, are excellent.I'm tall(6'4" and lanky(200#) and it fits great (size:large). There is a bit of extra room which is fine by me. Lowest temperature i've worn it in is 35 degrees in 30 knot winds.I work on a ship and i was very warm wearing just a cotton t-shirt and regular shirt.Driving rain doesn't penetrate jacket. First Marmot product, but it won't be the last.

This jacket was a christmas present for my dad this year. We were looking for a replacement for his current winter jacket that has been around so long that it earned the name "triple fat" for it's warm goose down fill. Only one jacket could replace his go to snow storm exterior and it is the Men's Marmot Aviate. As soon as I saw this coat I knew it was the one! The bomber jacket fit at the waist as well as tight cuffs at the wrists has kept out all the elements storm after storm after storm this year. The down hood, 650 fill, and waterproof material keeps him warm, dry, and protected during long snow blowing sessions. At 6 ft and 190 lbs the large Aviate jacket is the perfect fit in every way for my dad during this snow bound winter season.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, PerformanceAviate Jacket

Good quality stylish jacket at a fair price. Fit is right on. At 5'8" and 160 athletic build the medium fit very well.
Pros: Great designWarmest coat I ever purchased

I needed a warm coat that fit my rather large framed body. This is the only brand and style of coat that fit my desired need. Since I ordered late in the season my only color selection available was eggplant which I've received numerous compliments on. The coat is very comfortable, stylish and above all warm.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useClassy and warm

I have owned some high -end jackets in my life, but this is the best of them. Great fit -though I purchased an Extra-Large - I normally wear a size Large - I have broad shoulders and the Large was tight under the armpits. The jacket is light but very warm. Great jacket for walking the dog on cold nights here in New England!
Pros: Great designMarmot aviate

Very warm at -20 I was just wearing a t-shirt under and was warm. Good pockets. Only downside is the hood,I find it to stuffed, too big.It could easely be a 200 down fill instead.
