These are excellent all around as a mid-weight mountain soft shell; definitely not the heavier ski-type pant and more robust than the light hikers. I am using these for climbing and they seem to be tailor made for that purpose as well as any cool weather aerobic activity. The fit is awesome owing to the articulated construction. That part however - articulated build, means more seams to come apart although this has not happened yet. The only other negative common to pants like this is the "welded" construction. Welded = glued and glue WILL simply delaminate given time. So, if you use these hard and not just for looking the part, expect to be sewing. Obviously for the price, that is unsat and the alternative is to just trash six pair of jeans rock climbing...and I have done that too. Altogether great pants but probably not for long days scaping on JT granite. Fit: Marmot has improved for 2012 by switching to waist sizes. I am 5,11 185 with the V-shape. I found that the 34 waist was equivilient to my other Marmot pants in Medium.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, fit
