Men's Mica Jacket 4.8 5 4 4
Great Design This is the first Marmot jacket I've owned. So far, I've been very pleased with it. I've been looking for a light water proof jacket since I travel to the Pacific Islands often, and I needed something to withstand the occasional rainstorm, but still light enough that I won't feel like I'm boiling underneath in 90 degree weather. I couldn't be happier. The only thing is that since the jacket is EXTREMELY light and thin, I worry about it tearing as it feels quite fragile. Otherwise than that, it's worked out perfectly. Fit is rather true-to-size, so I wouldn't recommend wearing any bulky sweaters underneath. May 29, 2011
Best rain coat on the market This is my second Marmot raincoat (I also owned the predecessor to the Mica), and the Mica is by far the best rain coat / overall light coat on the market. I disagree with a previous review, though, that anyone needs to buy a size larger than you normally wear. I am 6'3" and comfortably fit in the large. Also, unlike the other reviewer, I wear this coat almost every day. In the winter/fall, I wear a fleece vest and coat under this coat, and it’s fine. If you want more room, you’re in the market for a shell, not a raincoat. I also commuted on bike for two years in the earlier version of the Mica, and it breathes great. I would highly recommend the Mica to anyone. May 11, 2011
Unbelievable light weight jacket, When I got it, I thought nothing is in the package. I can't imagine it's so light. Of course, although it's so light, it has many features: windproof, waterproof and breathable. It's very suitable for spring or summer outdoor activities. Moreover, it's very easy to put it to my backpacks. I like it! April 25, 2011
Outstanding choice for the ultralight backpacker I purchased this jacket in size XL to replace my size L Marmot Essence jacket (see review under Marmot Essence). These are both ultralight rain jackets that save weight in part by an athletic fit, meaning they fit fine over a typical denim or flannel shirt, but are too tight (in one's normal size) to wear over a puffy fleece or down layer. Buying this coat in size XL solved that problem; it fits fine over my Patagonia down sweater. The Marmot Mica is comparable in most ways to the Essence but at a more economical price. The size L Essence weighs 7.2 oz, the size XL Mica weighs 7.8 oz so the difference may be due only to the size. The Essence has elastic at the cuffs, the Mica has velcro which I prefer since the fit is adjustable. Both jackets are highly recommended as they have IMPECCABLE construction (which I've previously found with Marmot products) and both keep you completely dry. I haven't tested breathability on either jacket because I'm a fair weather hiker (if I'm out in the rain, it's because the weatherman blew the forecast). I carry a rain jacket to use as an outer layer at night when it's cold, and for those few times when there is an unexpected squall. I've bought many rain jackets over the years (usually to cut an ounce or two from my prior jacket) and this Marmot jacket is an OUTSTANDING choice due to the light weight, total weatherproofing, and quality construction. Now that I've got the right size, I think my search for the perfect rain jacket is over. I DO recommend that if you are going to be wearing this rain jacket over bulky fleece or down, you get a size larger than your normal size. March 30, 2011
