Very light but keeps the water out. fits well.

As promised the Mica is very light weight (which has me a little concerned about the durability) it packs small and the overall fit is true to size. I havnt had a chance to field test the Mica but so far I'm inpressed with the overall construction and would recommend this product.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, ultralight worthy

I purchased this jacket for my dad for xmas. He's always running out in a sweatshirt to the gym, store, etc. I thought it would be nice to find a lightweight jacket. In any event, he loves it. He loves that it's lightweight and durable. He tested it in the rain and stayed completely dry. It's a definite plus that it folds into itself for easy packing.

This is the lightest rainproof jacket I have ever had and the fabric is much stronger than I expected. It remained without snags during a rainy descent from Bassett Peak in the Galiuro Wilderness. AND, it kept me dry and warm during the storm!
great rain jacket

this is a great lightweight rain jacket from Marmot,I have large and fit true to size, takes up very little room if you need to pack it in your backpack
Best rain coat on the market
May 11, 2011
This is my second Marmot raincoat (I also owned the predecessor to the Mica), and the Mica is by far the best rain coat / overall light coat on the market. I disagree with a previous review, though, that anyone needs to buy a size larger than you normally wear. I am 6'3" and comfortably fit in the large. Also, unlike the other reviewer, I wear this coat almost every day. In the winter/fall, I wear a fleece vest and coat under this coat, and its fine. If you want more room, youre in the market for a shell, not a raincoat. I also commuted on bike for two years in the earlier version of the Mica, and it breathes great. I would highly recommend the Mica to anyone.

I did not want to write a review until I had got this thing wet, I mean really wet, I have to say I am truly impressed. Marmot has outdone themselves with this material. Michigan early summer rain that was slightly heavier than standing in my shower and not a drop of bleed through or the slightest bit of clamminess. Every inch of me that wasn't covered was completely soaked, bone dry under the Mica though. What is even more impressive is how light this jacket is. I researched and tried on nearly every other super-light jacket out there and nothing else compares. This jacket feels roughly half the weight to the closest PacLite jacket and in my opinion performs as well or better, furthermore it will pack down to roughly the size of a tennis ball. Highly recommended!
In a league of its own

Phenomenal jacket, period. The material is amazing, keeps you dry, doesn't stick to the skin like some gore-tex products. Great feel, the cut of the jacket is definitely athletic. I ordered a large which fits me perfectly, but I did notice that the cut is slightly smaller than other large size jackets I own. Still, not a problem because who wants extra fabric when you're being beaten down with rain? Bottom line. You will love this jacket!!!

Unbelievable light weight jacket, When I got it, I thought nothing is in the package. I can't imagine it's so light. Of course, although it's so light, it has many features: windproof, waterproof and breathable. It's very suitable for spring or summer outdoor activities. Moreover, it's very easy to put it to my backpacks. I like it!
Great for light weight travel

The jacket is extremely light and packable. It is perfect for protection from rain but keeping the temperature down in warm weather.

This is the first Marmot jacket I've owned. So far, I've been very pleased with it. I've been looking for a light water proof jacket since I travel to the Pacific Islands often, and I needed something to withstand the occasional rainstorm, but still light enough that I won't feel like I'm boiling underneath in 90 degree weather. I couldn't be happier. The only thing is that since the jacket is EXTREMELY light and thin, I worry about it tearing as it feels quite fragile. Otherwise than that, it's worked out perfectly. Fit is rather true-to-size, so I wouldn't recommend wearing any bulky sweaters underneath.

This is a tremendous lightweight, water repelling jacket for warm weather rains. Ideal for light rain situations, but not for long-term rain or large storm exposure.

They put out a lightweight jacket in the past with a chest pocket only. The zippered pockets really add to the use of the jacket. Very light; first thing I place in my backpack.
Light weight protection

I am a hiker and previous Marmot pre-cip jacket gear owner, I bought the Mica after carefully reviewing the product attributes and am overly pleased with the purchase. Went hiking in drizzle a month ago with 25 mph winds at the summit, with short sleeve layer underneath, and I was dry and did not overheat. This jacket is very light weight so if you plan to be stationary in a torrential rain storm probably not the gear of choice that day, but on the other hand in addition to protection on the move during hikes this jacket is great choice to pack for trips.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Outstanding choice for the ultralight backpacker
March 30, 2011
I purchased this jacket in size XL to replace my size L Marmot Essence jacket (see review under Marmot Essence). These are both ultralight rain jackets that save weight in part by an athletic fit, meaning they fit fine over a typical denim or flannel shirt, but are too tight (in one's normal size) to wear over a puffy fleece or down layer. Buying this coat in size XL solved that problem; it fits fine over my Patagonia down sweater. The Marmot Mica is comparable in most ways to the Essence but at a more economical price. The size L Essence weighs 7.2 oz, the size XL Mica weighs 7.8 oz so the difference may be due only to the size. The Essence has elastic at the cuffs, the Mica has velcro which I prefer since the fit is adjustable. Both jackets are highly recommended as they have IMPECCABLE construction (which I've previously found with Marmot products) and both keep you completely dry. I haven't tested breathability on either jacket because I'm a fair weather hiker (if I'm out in the rain, it's because the weatherman blew the forecast). I carry a rain jacket to use as an outer layer at night when it's cold, and for those few times when there is an unexpected squall. I've bought many rain jackets over the years (usually to cut an ounce or two from my prior jacket) and this Marmot jacket is an OUTSTANDING choice due to the light weight, total weatherproofing, and quality construction. Now that I've got the right size, I think my search for the perfect rain jacket is over. I DO recommend that if you are going to be wearing this rain jacket over bulky fleece or down, you get a size larger than your normal size.
Great Light Rain Jacket

I've worn in a few times in the NYC summer lightning showers. On a hot humid day when I was caught without an umbrella and had this jacket, it was breathable when walking around. Packs up small into it's own left pocket. Looking forward to using it on an upcoming scuba trip when i'm out of water b/t dives.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Maybe its just me - size L is slightly too small, XL slightly too large. I'm 6' 185lbs. Zipper takes some getting used to because its on the wrong side. Construction is good and waterproofing seems on par with other brands.
