Great Jacket
February 21, 2012
This is a great jacket. I bought it for work on rainy days because it looks nice with khakis and dress shirts. I have worn it in a heavy rain and stayed perfectly dry. The fit is very good with room for a jacket underneath on rainy days. This is my first Marmot purchase and I will be buying more.

Great Ski/Snowboard jacket
January 05, 2011
I bought this jacket specifically for snowboarding and I am very happy with it. Almost all the jacket is made of Gore-Tex Pro Shell. It is waterproof, windproof, and wicks internal moisture unlike any other material. If there are better and cheaper materials that does all 3 as well as Gore-tex I don't know about it. Additionally, the jacket has an insulation. The insultation is a thin breathable fabric (not fleece) that feels like a silk. Overall, this jacket is sufficient to keep you warm in most harsh conditions. For example, this jacket was GREAT in a snowy blizzard at Mammoth Mountain at 20 degrees. I was at Mammoth Mountain during its recent record snowfall (it snowed so hard they actually closed down the ski slopes) and I did not get wet or cold, and I was wearing only a polyester-like T-shirt underneath. One probably would need to wear a base layer in more extreme conditions. Please note, the hood IS stowable into the collar. For some reason, a stowable hood is not part of the jacket's description. The hood can also be unzipped. But to accomodate the stowable hood, the collar is large. The jacket looks MUCH more in proportion when the hood is stowed instead of unzipped. As far as fit, the jacket is on the large side so it can accomodate a base layer. If you want a tight fitting jacket that can't accomodate a base layer, then I suggest you order one size lower. As far as looks, the quality of this jacket is very visually obvious. It isn't as flashy as Arteryx, but you will pay extra for that extra Arteryx quality. I would say this jacket is plenty good for almost everyone who wants to get a jacket for skiing/snowboarding.

Ok, so i was looking to replace my shell and settled on this jacket. Generally this shells are too big for my slight frame but not this one--it fits like a charm and the price here was much lower than anywhere else. thanks
Great Shell

Great shell, I like the ability to zip in a fleece for warmth when needed and also having the ability to remove the hood. Note that not all of the fleece zippers are compatable for zip-in, you will need to check yours. The jacket fits large.

Excellent technical construction. Tend to run large. Usually a Medium, but had to purchase a Small.
as with other posting, marmot tends to run on the large size

what I liked about the jacket was the numerous pockets, dislikes was the fit: L fits more like XL.

Marmot Palisades Jacket

The Marmot Palisades Jacket is very comfortable. However, I should've known that it was an outer shell; but it seemed 'pricey' enough to think that it came with an inner shell. Plus the Marmot Palisades Jacket is Zippin Compatible. Meaning it has the ability to Zip in a Fleece Jacket. Consequently, if you're looking for that extra warmth, you may want to add the Marmot Warmlight Jacket to your cart as well. It also is Zippin Compatible. Meaning it should have the ability to Zip into a Marmot Palisades Jacket. An ALTREC rep can confirm... MSL
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Costvery happy with this purchase

I've wanted another marmot jacket since my precip purchase a few years ago. This jacket replaced a 12 year old nf mnt guide jacket and I'm very happy. This jacket is lighter weight and the 2 layer gore tex has kept me completely dry. I'm about 6 foot 220 and the large fit is perfect with a mid layer, even with a slightly puffy/ bulky down mid layer. This is a really good jacket but not a very technical one compared to the pro shells (for climbing etc..), but a perfect ski/ snowboard and all around town shell.

I was looking to replace my Moonstone that I had for over 8 years. This jacket came the closest to it in the price range. The look and fit of the palisades is great and performs well. The only thing that has to be fixed and I mean has too ,are the cuffs it seems that it just has the velcro to tighten it around your wrists no elastic. So at times when I took out my hands from my pockets the velcro would come undone. It needs more elastic and less velcro on the cuffs.
