Good looking jacket
I already bought the Mica Jacket from altrec.com and was very pleased so I couldn't pass up the opportunity when I saw this Precip Jacket on sale.
Compared to the Mica, the Precip isn't as thin. However, it is still very nice and will come in handy during any wet weather.
I'm 5'4'' and weigh 155 lbs. A M fits fine but it's slight baggy in the sleeves.
Can't go wrong with this purchase.

fantastic jacket
ok, i bought this jacket bc one of my best friends has this jacket and raves about it. and.... i came to the exact same conclusion. phenomenal jacket. i'll never buy another rain jacket ever again (except the same one from marmot if/when i need to replace...)

My DH loves this!
I purchased this jacket for my husband a couple of years ago. He absolutely loves it! Claims it is great in every way. He now insists on wearing this any time there's rain and totally forgoes using an umbrella, as this keeps him so dry. Until now, he has never liked any type of rain jacket. Great purchase!

Precip Jacket
Great fitting and waterproof jacket. Great value for $$$, would buy same jacket again. It has been a wet fall and jacket has kept me dry. Fits true to size and will be great this winter for a shell over heavier clothing.

Good but minimally tested
Have thus far minimally tested the product. Mostly it has been used in cool and windy conditions with light rain, has done more than enough to impress.

great shell jacket
This is a great shell jacket! It's very comfortable (doesn't have that stiff crinkly feel to it), it's durable (I know because this is the second one i've owned), and it's versatile. All in all a great buy!

Good jacket
Good quality made rain jacket. Fits a bit large for me and would like to see that it had more draw strings. The hood is rather large and can get blown about alot in the wind if not tightened well enough. Design of jacket is good the hood just seemed abit to large for me. Other than that an excellent rain jacket when bought at a discounted price.

Marmot Precip delivers
Great light weight, water proof jacket. Bought it for backpacking and to replace my 2lb Goretex jacket. Left in my car and used it the next day when the wind started blowing. Now its an all around jacket

I have worn this out in Chicago storms and it has held up great. I am a medium (5'10" 180#) and bought a large for a climb in the Tetons with underlayers. The hood is a bit cumbersome when not in use and it is rolled into collar but it wears very well as a wind/water breaker.

Marmot Precip
Overall, this seems like a quality item at a reasonable price. Wore it in a complete downpour and stayed totally dry. The fit seems a bit large. I am 6' 1" 190lb and a medium is perfect for me. (glad it tried it on at a local retailer first) Cannot speak for the long term durability as the item is new to me, but I think it should hold up.

Now just need the weather
I bought this on the strength of the reviews. Great price, great jacket. I plan to use it this winter and spring for backpacking. Excellent construction and design. This is a sure thing-no reason not to own.

Works well. Well made for a resonable price. Larger fit. Hood will fit over a helmut, but does not drop in front of eyes when not wearing one. Pockets don't seem to high for me.

Great Purchase
I purchased this jacket for a upcoming backpack trip on the John Muir trail. So far I have only wore it in light rain and performed well. I am 5' 10", 170lb and the large fits very well with plenty of room for layering. So far it seems to be everything I was looking for in a waterproof jacket. Well made and good ventilation.

great jacket
excellent hood,huge arm vents .I'm 5'8" 190lbs,Lg jacket is loose enough to wear over a heavy fleece jacket ot my Patagonia down pullover w/ plenty of room,that being said I probably could use a Med. size But opted for the versatility of using the shell for a wide variety of applications.Packs small enough but doesn't pack into its own pocket.The hood is large enough for a bike helmut and has an sdjustment in the back to make the hood comfortable just covering your noggin. The only issue is that even w/ the huge arm vents it can get warm when worn in muggy conditionc (I live in Virginia)
All in all a great shell at a great price!

I love this jacket. Bought it for a trip to the Red River Gorge, and it was definitely a good investment. Over the course of several rain storms while we were there, I did not have any problems. The fit was good and the jacket did not hold in moisture and get muggy like many raincoats do. I also used it as a windbreaker when I was in wyoming a couple weeks later, and it worked excellently for that as well.

Nice rain jacket, perfect
I bought this jacket for the occasional damp or semi-wet approach to some of the areas I climb. The fit and water shedding and windblocking properties are pretty good and it performed as expected in these areas. However, whenever the activity level ramps up so does the condensation inside the jacket. The liner on the jacket was so wet after one approach I took it off and had to let it air dry before putting it back on in 40 degree with tons of wind... All in all, low activity levels and it works fine, for any activity that requires some effort it just does not breath well enough.

No mistake buying this jacket
Abundance of storage pockets, rainproof. A great walking shelter during bad weather on the trail. Material cleans very easily just using a wet sponge. Hood design extremely efficient in shielding face during rain. Could not be more pleased with this jacket.

Versatile and well made
I usually wear a large jacket (I'm 5'11" and 200 lbs) but got this XL so I can wear it over another jacket, and it works fine for that. Mostly I wear it with just a shirt underneath, and although the sleeves are long, it is easy to adjust them at the wrist with the velcro straps so that's no problem. I've worn it in light rain, and it's fully waterproof. It makes an excellent windbreaker.

It is of lovely quality and actually quite nice looking!

This Precip jacket seems good so far, haven't had a chance to test it in a rain storm. The rain jacket is very contractible and light weight which is why I bought it.

Very nice jacket
This jacket works perfect and has managed to keep me dry during a pretty serious downpour! The "gargoyle" color in conjunction with the ripstop type fabric reminds me of duct tape but overall the appearance is pleasing.
Oh! I should mention that i have to take off the jacket to re-zip the pit-zips because they are so difficult to keep from binding on the adjacent fabric. Also, I thought this jacket would fold up into a pocket or something but I guess it doesn't.
I'm 6'2" 175lb and the Large fits me perfectly.

A Fine Product!
The Pacific Northwest is a great test for a jacket such as this one. It has performed well through the spring weather. It is waterproof and provides good ventilation for a warmer rainy day. The hood is a must have and nicely integrated with the jacket. The Precip is perfect for taking along "just in case" and is very packable. It is a great jacket and solid value.

Exactly What I Needed
I needed a rain jacket for a couple upcoming trips and this jacket has worked beautifully. The stuff pocket is ideal for travel and the side pockets are high enough so that they can be accessible when wearing a waist belt for a backpack. The hood is a little large but will absolutely keep you dry. Overall, a great jacket.

Why mess with an umbrella?
This raincoat is true to size and very comfortable. The hood is great - the visor sticks out far enough to keep water off my face.
I've worn it in the rain and it definitely keeps me dry.
This raincoat means never having to use an umbrella again!

Geat Light Summer Shell
I used this all summer day hiking in yellowstone and other national parks and had a chance to use it is several storms and will it feels wet it does keep you dry. Packes nicely into one of the pockets and fits nicely in a day pack. Haven't used it in the winter snow but thats not really what its for. I have a large long and am 6'2" 170lbs.

got what we expected
The coat was everything the description said it was, and it will certainly keep the rain out. It looks good on. I just was so surprised the pockets were SO high up. Not very comfortable to have the hands hang out in....still for price point, it will do the job.

Excellent Protection 4 Season
I got this item named as North Shore years ago...In addition to the precip jacket it had the fleece inner compartment. It keeps me warm in winter months and protects me from rain and wind in all the other seasons. Now I got the precip jacket for my brother, unfortunately they don't have the North Shore model anymore. However this precip jacket goes perfectly with any Marmot fleece inside and it will again be used for all 4 seasons. Size is not tight and is not loose. It is just right and I am a 250 pounds 6 ft male and wear XL precip. It is lightweight, easy to carry, nice color. Highly recommend it!

Great and light weight
I purchased both of my college bound sons a Marmot Precip jacket. They needed rain protection and these jackets fit the bill. They are very light weight, zip and velcro nicely, and look sporty for them as well. Whether walking or biking to class they will stay dry. The sleeves and front velcro snug, and the hood works well. They are 5 ft 10 in tall and average build- the large size fits perfectly.

High Quality, Great Fit, Excellent Price
Bought this jacket to wear in the rainy season in Africa in the summer. It was a perfect choice as it's waterproof, lightweight and has lots of vents for the heat and inner pockets to keep things dry. Typical excellent Marmot quality and the fit is true to size. Recommended buy!

Large and Stiff
I was hoping that this jacket would have some of the characteristics of Marmot's Mica or Super Mica jacket. No such luck. I purchased a large and it was LARGE. I was also expecting a fabric like the Mica, soft and supple, instead I go the normal raingear material - stiff and unforgiving. It does keep out moisture but it doesn;t have the feeling and maneuverability of the Mica. It also does not fold up into its pocket like the Mica products do. NO GO!

excellent purchase
This product meet all my expectations for a light waterproof jacket. I enjoy wearing whenever I can and appreciate its lightweight construction. Whether hiking, biking, ski touring, or travelling through the Southeast Asian monsoon season, the Precip Jacket for Men from Marmot sheds water and breaks the wind with ease.

It protects me well in the rain showers. It also fits well in any of my bags. Worth taking along when go out hiking. Haven't had a chance to test it out in a big storm though.
