Great Jacket
May 16, 2012
exactly what i was looking for - a lightweight jacket that is windproof and warm. perfect for hikes/walks with the dogs in san francisco. it's the perfect simple outer layer - can wear warmer layers underneath if needed, but not too big or bulky to wear alone.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueNice Jacket

I read the reviews before I buy it and almost everyone said this jacket runs small. So I purchased a size larger than I usually buy. I'm 5'10", 150lb and a size M jacket fits me well. It perfectly fits my body but still have some room for a mid-layers such as a light weight fleece pullover. I don't have a chance to test it's water-resistance ability but it protects me against the chilly winds quit well. Love this jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueVery good

I live in Colorado Springs, CO and have used it on numerous hikes in the Rocky Mountains. The jacket offers an incredible warmth/weight ratio, and breathes well under moderate activity. Water continues to bead up after heavy use. The fit seems true to size, as I wear a Large at 5'8" 190lbs, but the jacket will accept several underlayers for added warmth. Pockets are well thought out, and there is even a chest pocket with an mp3 player pocket. The only complaint I have is that the hood is too big. It was designed to accomodate a helmet, which I think it would do well. However, it is difficult to wear the hood in rainy conditions without a helmet, even when cinched down.
Pros: PerformancePro Tour Shell Jacket
March 25, 2011
I was looking for a highly breathable shell to use on backcountry trip. I like the synthetic material and the shell is water and windproff at least 95%. I would use this jacket except for one thing.... no pit zips! The seams are not storm proof and no pit zips. If you don't have a problem overheating or like a thin shell for those backcountry days this jacket is for you. If you need something that breathes well, look for those pit zips. thanks.
Pros: Performance, Ease of useWater rolls off it!

GREAT JACKET. Good fit (M). Wonderful soft but tough fabric: Water rolls off it. Guess you could spill wine on it and it would be OK!! Wind does not go thru it. BUT it is a THIN fabric, and it was returned because it might not be enough for the very cold northern climate. It is expensive and I wasn't willing to risk possible chills for the price. Excellent for more moderate climes!
Pros: PerformanceArmpits Are Way Too Tight
October 28, 2010
Angel Wing Movement is a great idea, but the fabric on the armpits is cut way too tight. It cuts into the skin. This is a huge disappointment because I have worn Marmot jackets for years. My old soft shell was in service for about 8 yrs before it recently gave out. It had angel wing movement too, but there was more room between the fabric and my armpit. I'm 5'7 and 155 lbs with a medium build, so it's not like I'm abnormally big... Also, I've tried Marmot's Sharp Point jacket, and it was too tight as well. Unfortunately, this seems like either defective engineering or manufacturing. Only, if this is they way Marmot designs their jackets now, I can't wear them anymore, and they've probably lost me as a customer. It sure is expensive trying to find out if they've fixed the problem.
