Nice but small
February 25, 2012
I liked the jacket a lot, looks great, wonderful design and construction, but unfortunately, like one of the other reviewers, I was disappointed at the small size when I received my jacket and tried it on - I followed the Marmot sizing chart to a tee during the ordering process but the jacket was still small for me even with a t-shirt on, and it would be plain uncomfortable with a winter pull-over or sweater - the smallness was mostly in the chest area... Arms seemed perfectly ok... I ordered a Large Jacket, and I usually wear a 42R in suit and sports coats. I am 5'7" tall and weigh 185 lbs. Fortunately, my 16 yr old son (who wears a 38R jacket comfortably) liked the Large jacket enough to accept it as a gift, so I didn't have to mess with the return process; it fits him well, and I have subsequently ordered an extra large for myself. But not before the price went up... and the green color that I really wanted was not available in the XL size. Such is life!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: small sizingexcellent

Quality made product well worth its price. The fit is excellent and comfortable. The components are good either by themselves or together, both are good looking and well made.
Now this is what I am talking about

Now this is what I am talking about....a 3-in-1 jacket that is not only stylish but functional. The taped sewn-in seams are meticulously constructed. The zipper pulls easy and fluid. The waterproofing capabilities definitely best my retired Tumi Tech, Patagonia and even North Face jackets. The fit is about right. You'll definitely stay nice and toasty donning this in a rainstorm or winter storm. I'm definitely a convert to Marmot.....I wish I had taken the plunge sooner. Oh, well, better late than never.

The best jacket I have owned in this category. Light, warm, breathable, comfortable, not ridiculously expensive. The first one I owned was left on a plane and I just bought it's replacement.

Marmot jacket

When I first looked and read about this jacket I fell in love with it. I was really excited about receiving my new jacket. When the package was received to my home. I could'nt wait to try it on. Unfortunatly It's a smaller cut jacket and It was to small for my shoulders. I was so upset I had tears in my eyes. If you want to purchase this jacket, try a size bigger for comfort. I'm going to try a different brand. I was not happy with paying the shipping cost to return the jacket. When they say free shipping, they should meen free shipping for returns also.
Many jackets in one

Great jacket. Shell is versatile enough for many temps. Liner only needed for extreme cold. Liner fleece great as standalone jacket when water not present. Extremely happy with purchase.
Excellent ski and urban 3 in 1 jacket

I have owned Marmot products for years and was thrilled to be able to purchase another article for such a great price. The included inner liner makes this a must buy. I have skied three time in temps around 20 degrees and have never been cold.
Excellent!

Wow! This jacket is so comfortable and built well. The hood system is great and some of my other fleeces even zip in. Great buy!
Ridgetop Rocks

The Ridgetop is awesome! The quality is outstanding and all of the components are stylish - together or seperately. The fit is a tad snug in the armpits (I am 6'-1" and 185 pounds), but looser than all of the many other component jackets I tried on. With the three-in-one possibilities, I can wear the liner when it is cool, the shell when it is cold and rainy, and both together when it is exttremely cold (raining or not). It works well skiing, hiking or just out and about. I only need a light rain jacket (for hot weather) in addition to the Ridgetop to have all of my outerwear covered.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Costgreat all around performer

Another great two in one jacket from Marmot- There's a fleece zip up and a rain jacket basically. The fleece is breathable, and stylish on its own. Same with the outer shell. I expect to use the outer shell alone in the rain a lot! Putting both jackets together keeps you toasty and dry. The way the jacket breathes while while keeping you warm always amazes me. This jacket is cut just shorter lengthwise than the Frontside component jacket. I find the Ridgetop more casual looking.
