sizes too big
February 23, 2012
I ordered this jacket cause it seems good compromise between wind / water protection and breath-ability for alpine skiing, mountaineering, climbing.. Unfortunately I didn`t get the chance to test it, because S is too small, M way too big. I`m 1,78m with 70kg. The green is freaky,

I bought this jacket for my husband because he needed a nice jacket with a hood that would be attractive and durable. The length of the jacket is a real plus because my husband finds many other brands to be a bit too short. Marmot makes great products and this one does not disappoint.

I love the ROM jacket. Fits great, great quality zippers and construction. Great hood . Really really wind and waterproof. Also very light in weight for the warmth that it provides. The jacket came right on time from Altrec too. I was searching for an outer layer shelll that would allow me to layer up if need be, but still be minimalist in weight. It fits that use perfectly. The "Range of Motion" cut is really nice too, you CAN get full movement of your arms without the jacket creeping up at all. Its handy for slinging a pack (what I have done with it so far) but I bet it will work great for skiing and climbing. The jacket was exactly as billed and I am totally pleased with it.

Best Jacket I've Ever Owned
January 31, 2013
Living in a city with all types of weather, from 70 degrees one day during the winter to below freezing with hail the next, having one jacket that I can wear through it all makes my daily commute easier. The ROM jacket solved this problem, and since owning it, I have bought a second one just for back up. The fit is incredible, not baggy at all, but not tight, perfect and any type of movement you can imagine. I can't wait to take it on big wall climbing in France. But for now, it's perfect for daily bike rides in the fall/winter seasons. The best part about the jacket is the Winestopper material which keeps me warm even with just a tshirt on underneath, yet still allows plenty of breathability during my long rides to work. I couldn't be happier with this jacket and would recommend it to anyone.

Too bad I had to return it
April 06, 2011
This jacket appears to be very versatile and made to meet all your outdoor pursuits. I like the fabric and the basic design. Unfortunately I returned it for two reasons: (1) it fits quite large (I own several other Marmot pieces and they usually has an "athletic" fit to them), and (2) the cardinal red color has a pink hue to it. You might consider sizing down, but I tried on the next size down at a local store and it was a tad small. Just be aware this fits a bit large. Altrec's return procedures have improved significantly. Processing a return used to move at glacial speed, bu this return was processed very promptly. I'll be back.

I own my own car wash So What is important to me is warmth and wind protection without bulk. I actually went and bought another one of these jackets. It's really a good looking jacket. goes very well with cacky pants and really blocks out the wind very well. I am 6'2 about 160 pounds. The medium fits great. I like how it's not to short and allows me to bundle up some layers underneath. I would recommend this jacket to anyone.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueA Great Softshell for Active Pursuits
December 09, 2010
I purchased this softshell jacket a while back and I have been extremely pleased that I did. It is a M2 softshell with windstopper on the front and back and stretchy softshell fabric under the arms and don the sides. This creates a jacket that is super confortable to wear in that it is supple and moves with you but also a jacket that blocks a fair bit of the inclement weather. I have not worn it in a downpour yet, but it works well in light rain or short burst of heavy rain. It has no problems in the snow. When you heat up from exertion or temperature, the jacket breathes really well and controls the excess heat. I did find it to run slightly large. I am 5'10 1/2 and 160 lbs and had to go with the small because the medium felt huge. In the small it is a more trim fit but since the jacket moves so well, I like it like that. The Marmot ROM Jacket is one of my favorites.
