Description

Conceived in the minds and methods of passionate enthusiasts, the athletically inclined Men's Super Gravity Jacket from Marmot Mountain Works is as stretchable and easygoing as it is water and windproof. This M1 softshell jacket is ready for anything winter throws at you, and the attached hood features a laminated brim that holds its shape in wild weather. As with all of Marmot's outerwear jackets, Angel-Wing Movement™ technology keeps the elastic draw cord hem from riding up, so you'll stay covered against the elements. Whether you're shredding the corduroy on a cobalt blue morning or snowshoeing into the brisk backcountry, this versatile jacket lets you move freely when layered or as an outer shell. Performance cut with plenty of adjustment options, the Super Gravity Jacket goes the extra mile when you do.

Super Gravity Is Great
January 26, 2012

What a jacket, perfect fit, very warm, high quality and simple fabulous, it looks so good. Went out skiing with this jacket kept me warm and once I started to warm up, the breathability nof this jacket was very good. This is a jacket that you will find yourself not wearing alot because it is so nice that you don't want to wear it all the time.

One of my all-time faves
May 10, 2012

Half of my closet is taken up by jackets, and this one rocks. I bought a medium (I am 6'1", slim) and it fits snug, but with enough room for a base layer. I usually find hoods annoying, but this one feels fine, even when it is not being used. I spend 10 nights every summer on a camping outing, this is the best jacket for cold evenings and mornings by the campfire. Feels like I am wearing a blanket. Seems to be super-durable thus far. No complaints, highly reccommended. Marmot makes great products, this is about my 10th Marmot item...gotta like a company named after a gopher!

different between Super Hero and Super Gravity
January 03, 2012

I've been looking at those jackets as well trying to find a good all-around softshell and can give you my observations. The ROM is the lightest, most flexible jacket with almost no insulation (brushed material). The Super Gravity is the heaviest, most durable material with a fair amount of fleece lining. The Super Hero is right between the two with heavier fleece in the hood, shoulders, outside of arms and brushed material on the rest. The ROM and Super Hero use Gore Windstopper, whereas the Super Gravity uses Marmot's proprietary laminate material. All are windproof and are water-resistant for everything but an extended downpour or sitting in the snow. The ROM is the most breathable with stetch panels on the side of the torso arms (that increase breathability, but don't block the wind or cold). The Super Gravity has no venting other than the pockets. The Super Hero is again in the middle with breathable panels under the armpits only. I think either the Super Hero or Super Gravity would be the best choice for an all-around jacket, as the ROM seems to be more of a windstopper for aerobic activities. If you tend to get cold, plan to use it for cold-weather activities, or are looking for a thicker, more durable jacket, the Super Gravity might be a good choice (keep in mind that you may want to size up if you want to add a lot of insulating layers underneath). If you'll be using the jacket for high-energy/aerobic activities or if you want the flexibility to adjust the warmth by adjusting layers, the Super Hero might make sense.

I've been looking for a good softshell (or something between a tattered raincoat, Carhartt hoodie, or down coat) for my minimalist boyfriend and as it is nearly impossible to get him to a store I turned to the interwebs. This looks like a great option..waterproof (where many softshells are resistant), hood to prevent snow clumps down the neck when cruising town, and I've always loved my long lasting Marmot gear in the past. Think it will be a great option to get him out skiing. Cannot truly attest to fit yet as it's not quite Christmas but think it will be a winner.

Super Gravity Jacket - Best I've Owned!
January 24, 2013

Best soft shell I've owned. Awesome construction and technically sound. Craftsmanship is one of the best I've seen in a softshell. Great looking jacket as well. The M1 material has a small amount of fleece backing for warmth so I use it in temps down to freezing. I have to add a layer at lower temps. Very breathable and windproof. Haven't worn it in a downpour yet but it looks water resistant and then some. Highly recommended......

A great jacket
February 14, 2013

Very windproof, almost waterproof. Fit is excellent and true to size. I am 5"10' 165 and medium fits perfect. It is athletic fit. I normally wear this jacket with a wool baselayer, vest and this jacket, and I have been wearing it this winter with out issue to temperatures down to 25 degrees. Any lower and you need a warmer jacket. Granted this was used for skiing and daily use. Hope that helps

Great all around jacket for tough conditions
November 12, 2011

I have no complaints. All around, it’s a great product and worth the cost. At first, I was concerned the colors were a little strong (green/fatigue) but after wearing it, it grew on me. I'm not an avid outdoor adventurer but I value high quality, high performance, versatile products that look good and don't kill my budget. This jacket fit all of those criteria and has the trustworthy Marmot brand name behind it. It's light but sturdy and has all types of surprising techy touches.

GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO MH WINDSTOPPER
January 03, 2012

I HAVE BEEN WEARING MY MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR OFF AND OFF FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND DECIDED TO START RUNNING OUTDOORS IN SEATTLE WEATHER WHICH IS NOW WINTER SEASON WHICH HAS LOTS OF RAIN AND WIND WHILE THE MH DID A GREAT JOB WITH WIND AND LIGHT RIGHT MY BIGGEST COMPLAIN IS THE PET HAIR IT ATTRACTS I HAVE A PET LOVER AND TAKE MY SHORTY BULL ON RUNS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. THE GRAVITY BEING A SOFT SHELL WILL NOT ACT LIKE A MAGNET TO PET HAIR AS MY MH DID. NOT TO MENTION ITS WATERPROOF AND STILL BREATHABLE! WHO SAID YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO! I LOVE THIS JACKET AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANY ONE ESPECIALLY PET LOVERS! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED AND ITS GUARANTEED FOR LIFE!

Pros: Build quality, Great value, Lasts forever, Performance, doesn't attract pet hair!, Cons: better with pit zipps
