My Yukon Parka is exactly what I was looking for in a winter coa
I am very pleased with my new Parka. It is not only warm but also it is very stylish and I can do so much with it. I can use it for business with my suits during the week and I can wear on the weekends when I hit the road with my family. It is a great coat and I am very happy that I found the exact coat I was looking for!

Helluva Deal
Alaska born 'n bred ... and it's all whole grain bread up here, folks. No sissy lower 48 winters here. What you call "cold" we call "summer." So this was a welcome surprise, to find such a quality parka at such a reasonable price. Altrec delivered much faster than expected, and when we had to do an RMA and reorder, they processed quickly and had the new parka in our cold little hands in less than a week. AMAZING! Especially since most folks "down there" think Alaska isn't even part of the U.S. (and we encourage the thought!). Marmot comes through again w/ a great piece of equipment for the cold. Now, agree w/ 'Somewhere in Alaska' that Canada Goose is the top of the line, but unless you're above the Arctic Circle or the harsher interior regions, Goose wear is overkill, and this Marmot will do you well, even at typical -teens and twenties here in Alaska.

AWESOME Jacket !!
I bought this for my father who absolutely hates the cold. He says it is very very warm yet fairly light and not bulky. He loves it. Sizes run big so if you usually take an xl a large will do.

Great WARM Parka
This is a perfect parka for digging out of the snow or wearing over a suit on extra cold days. They are over sized so be conservative when sizing; a medium still has a lot of wiggle room. The hood is warm, detachable and wind proof but would be better if a button instead of Velcro was used. The exterior shell is sturdy, water and wind proof and there are plenty of pockets for storage. Great parka which will last a lifetime.

Warm and comfortable
After quite a bit of research, this parka came to the top of the list for design, light weight, warmth and comfort. Have used it already a few times. My only concern is with the hood - the draw strings seem somewhat difficult to use.

Excellet jacket
Great jacket. It's a lightweight jacket but it is pretty warm, though. Also it fits me fairly well.

Bring on the Elements!
One of the other reviews calls this a lightweight jacket. I'd describe it more as the parka you'd want with you when you're sitting in Soldier Field in late December watching the Bears/Packers on a day when the wind is howling off the lake, the slush is blowing sideways, and the temp is not only numbing your fingers but also making icicles in your beer. This jacket can take it. The sizes run somewhere between huge and ginormous with a large being so big I had to order the next size down (which rarely happens).

Great Parka
I was unsure of the size I needed, but went with a Large. I am 6' 185lbs and it's a nice fit with room for a layer or two under if needed. This parka is made well as others have stated. I plan to add velcro on the hood flap. Other than that it's perfect. Shipping was fast as well.

Somewhere in Alaska - 2009-10-25

Great parka - Great buy!
Have been looking @ parkas for the upcoming Alaskan winter, and after looking @ dozens of them, it came down to "Marmot" or "Marmot." Yes, Mtn Hardwear is great stuff, but I'm not climbing Lhotse or Aconcagua... Why only 4 Stars? Because everyone up here knows Canada Goose is the only perfect jacket on the market, but they're too warm except for the arctic or very subzero temps, and CG parkas are almost 3x the price of Altrec's closeout Marmots. It was a no brainer. Selected the Yukon because of the pockets even tho' oz per yd fabric was less than Whitehorse: durable fabric is a must, and the 4.3oz/yd v. 6oz/yd was a fair trade, and sufficiently "stiff" to handle most conditions short of dead spruce branches and brown bear claws. While communication from Altrec was limited and there was no tracking info because I live in the Big AK, it arrived much faster than advertised - within days! My reluctance & hesitation to buy from an "unknown" was allayed. Going over the parka w/ a fine tooth comb and magnifying glass found it to be 'up to snuff' with what I've come to expect from Marmot: Great quality and attention to detail. Love the fit - very roomy, but not overly so. (Waist on the large maxes out @ 36", which is small for most men who'd wear a L, so went w/XL: can't have a parka that's too snug. Marmot could increase waist to 38-40 in the L and it'd be perfect for 99% of men who would otherwise wear it. And love the pockets, even if they do compromise warmth a bit. Winter's no slouch up here in the Great White North, and neither is this coat. I'm sure we'll all get along nicely! Now, on to snowshoes ....

Well made
Well made. Lots of pockets. Hood unzips easily however it could use more velcro. Marmot seems to size their jackets generously.
