Zeus vs Venus Down Jacket
February 11, 2011
This jacket weighs close to nothing. I am 5'10" 140lbs female and I bought the Zeus size XS because the I find the sleeves and torso of the Venus Jacket, the lady version of the same jacket from Marmot, too short. After reading a review written by a taller girl recommending the Zeus XS, I was hoping that it will fit me too. Apparently I am taller and bigger than the previous reviewer. The Zeus XS fits me at the chest are but the over length of the jacket is just too short. I have returned it. I am looking for a the same quality jacket like the Marmot Zeus that will fit me well. I have heard that the Mountain Hardware Jackets have trimmer fit. But I think Marmot brand clothing have way better design and looks.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGood jacket

This jacket fits well, with good freedom of movement. It is very lightweight and packable. It has been very warm. Downside; the zipper seems a little sticky. Also, it is a little bulkier than some of the options from other companies. Overall it is a good jacket and i would recommend it.
Pros: Great design, PerformanceWrite a review for the Marmot Zeus Down Jacket here.
Toasty Zeus!

I was impressed by the quality and warmth of this jacket, it is my very first Marmot and i would highly recommend it. The only con I have is that it seems a little bigger than my medium size, specially in the arms. however I prefer the extra space than to be the other way around.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: a little bigger than expectedWrite a review for the Marmot Zeus Down Jacket here.

Hasnt been cold yet, but I really like the way it fits. Slim fit but still has room to wear a sweater underneath. Just what I was looking for. Not bulky and lightweight

Great Jacket for the price. I bought a total of three because I liked them so much. I bought one for my BF and one for my Uncle and one for myself. No complaints all around!

Great Jacket!
January 04, 2010
I got this for my husband for Christmas and he loves it. He's worn it around town, hiking and even cross-country skiing on a very chilly day in Wisconsin. He likes that it is light and very warm.
light and easy
April 06, 2009
Got this for my husband who doesn't like the drag of polartec or the weight of traditional jackets--he loves it, and I love that he wears a jacket.
I love it!
December 21, 2008
I tested it in 0 F conditions and it kept me warm, even without many other layers underneath. It can be compressed very small in the backpack with very light weight. It also fit nicely under an external shell.
so far so good
July 20, 2009
My husband likes it so far. It fits well under a shell and looks nice. Have not used it yet in really cold weather however.
Excellent purchase, great value

I am not a big guy...5'7, 135lbs. Luckily found an XS Marmot Zeus jacket and ordered it from Altrec. All I can say about this company is THEY ROCK! Will absolutely buy from them again. The jacket is super lightweight and very warm. Fits me like a glove. Still cannot get over that the jacket weighs so little but insulates so well. Extremely happy with my purchase and got the best (LOWEST) price on the internet. Am not sure that I won't snag the jacket on something like brush but so far so good. Maybe order another jacket just like this one but in a different color. Glad I made the purchase from Altrec.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueperfect light weight layering jacket for backpacking.
August 05, 2009
Love the packing size and weight. Ideal for ultra light hiking in high altitude. It kept me warm at 20 degree temps. With light wool base layer and windbreaker as outer layer. Looks good enough to wear as outer layer for everyday use.
Good insulation layer
January 04, 2009
I tested it under a shell with nice wool layers. Skiing at 17 degrees was too hot and had to take it off. When it got colder and windier and this jacket performed better than any other insulation layer I've used. A previous commenter said that some baffles have little/no down. This is obviously by design to let heat out the underarms. The jacket is functional at sub zero temps with proper layering, you don't want it any hotter if you are going be active.

This jacket fits great and it is very warm. I love that it is not bulky but it has the warmth of a large winter coat. The price is very reasonable for the quality you get. Love this jacket.

great fit
November 19, 2010
I love this jacket, very comfortable with a great looking slim fit. The cuffs are very comfortable and the jacket is not to puffy looking. It's warm, but below freezing I like another layer underneath.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great valueIt does what it is suppose too...
December 04, 2011
It's a down jacket that I mainly use on cold days, and out on the trail as insulation or I put it on early mourning around camp. I love how you can shove it into its own pocket..
Pros: Ease of useGreat Jacket!
January 25, 2010
This is the best jacket I've ever owned. It's super lightweight, very warm, fits perfectly (I'm 5'8" and 115 lbs, and the XS fits very well) and packs into its own pocket. Also, the sleeves aren't too short like with most jackets. All in all, this is an outstanding jacket

February 07, 2011
great jacket, its a little big on me around the torso, but im skinny, so its a normal xl. very warm, but also versatile enough to wear in less extreme weather. went on a mountaineering trip and put a shell over it and its great. very comfortable, good materials and nice looking
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: CostBest Down Jacket for the Price
December 06, 2010
I have owned my Marmot Zeus jacket for some time and I have to say I will not own another down jacket. This one keeps me warm without the extra price and bulk. My one complaint about this jacket is that when fully zipped, the area around the stomach sticks out giving the appearance of somewhat of a gut but I can live with that. The sticking out part, not the gut.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: midsection poofmarmot zeus jacket

it was not what I expected, but I will not let this stop me from ordering other things.
Warm and light - ideal for the pack
April 26, 2010
This jacket is ridiculously warm for the weight and packs very small. I can't not give it 5 stars, but it does seem that it may not wear terribly well. Given the material, wearing this through brush seems ill advised. That said, if one treats this well, it may be the last backpacking jacket needed.

Mamot Zeus: great coat for city and country
February 13, 2011
I bought this coat for everyday use in the coldest part of winter. I've owned down products before so it came as no surprise that the fabric needs the protection of a durable shell if you are in a brushy area. The same is true (shell needed) in rain or heavy snow. The Mamot Zeus is a great coat and it is just the right weight for me (I run a little hot). The handwarmer pockets, collar, and flap behind the zipper work well in the wind. With a waterproof shell, gloves, and a hat, I can take on anything the mountains of WV dish out...
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGreat purchase
January 27, 2013
Great fit jacket. I'm 5'9'' and 160lbs and jacket fits a little large for me, however I still prefer M over a S jacket (as S would be too small). Jacket is extremely light and great for 20-40 degree F weather.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGood down jacket

more lightweight than expected...
February 08, 2010
and still super warm! the xs size was good for me: tall/narrow female...long enough sleeves and not too wide in shoulders. xxs may also have worked, but this size gives easy room for layers.
light and warm
March 04, 2009
I have a Mountain Hardware SL Parka which is very warm but bulky, so I was looking for a light, yet warm down jacket. Zeus fits the bill perfectly. It is so light you hardly feel it on your body and takes up very small space when packed. It is also very warm that I can often wear with a light shirt or light fleece layer most of the time, down to the teens. It's also stylish enough that I can wear it around the town. I love it!

Great Jacket Great Fit
January 04, 2009
This jacket is light and warm and fits very well- I am 6'1" and not thin! Usually I have problems with the sleeves being too short however these do not ride up no matter what I do. This jacket fits very well under my waterproof shell for extra warmth. The jacket also fits into one of its pockets. The inside pockets are great for anything else that that does not fit into the generous hand warmer pockets-Ipod or what ever else. The outer shell is thin- as for most other down jackets and I would not use it going through foliage or anything else that can snag the jacket. Overall this is a great light warm packable down jacket that wears very well-This is my go to jacket for all my winter activities
Great Warm Jacket
January 26, 2011
I really like this jacket. It is comfy and warm. I had a Patagonia Down Sweater -- which is also an excellent jacket -- but I wanted something a bit warmer, and this jacket fit the bill perfectly. The fit is great - quality if fine. I like the elastic draw cord at the bottom with access to the "extra" cord - when tightened - in the pockets... out of sight and out of the way. The zip hand warmer pockets are very useful. I also appreciate the sizeable pockets on the jacket interior. It's a winner!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueJust What I Expected
January 11, 2011
I have been looking for a warm jacket for when I'm not moving too much, like waiting for my puppy to do his business ... or even the first morning drive, or having a cigar with a buddy on a cold day. This is that jacket. Very warm, great fit, nice look. I'm getting the women's model for my wife, so she'll stop stealing mine.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of useLightweight warm but not my size
September 27, 2010
Marmot mens size small do not fit me. I thought that of the two sizes I bought one would fit. The xxs is too tight in the chest with long sleeves and the xs is too long in the sleeves. The sleeve length in the two were the same the difference was in the chest with the difference being a couple of inches. I am 5'4", 126lbs. I have a marmot xs zeus vest and it is lightweight (as are these jackets) and warm. The 800 down is as purported, lightweight and compressible. The fabric seems like it would snag and possibly rip with the smallest twig so caution should be used in the wilderness. However under a shell it would be protected and be an excellent insulating layer. I have many marmot items and wish they would make items in mens size xs like they used to. I trust the marmot brand for outdoor gear (If I could just get it to fit). I have had a couple of items returned for repair and they do honor their lifetime warranties. I have a driclime windshirt almost a decade old and without rips and holes. Marmot = good stuff.

Cold Weather Proof
October 20, 2011
Marmot Zeus Jacket is a great shelter for cold New Hampshire winter. I bought this for my son in New Hampshire where winter season lasts much longer than any other part of the country. Zeus Jacket really keeps him WARM all the time and LIGHT to put on so that a young boy can maintain his mobility all the time. I strongly recommend Marmot Zeus Jacket to those who hate to go out in the winter season. WARM and LIGHT!!!

Great down jacket. I use it all winter long and kept me warm down to 12 F weather. I love how lightweight it is and has also served as my travel jacket. The fact that it stuffs into its own pocket is a plus.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueToo fat

This jacket did not have the trim fit I was expecting. Other Marmot clothes have a trim fit, this item did not. I can't comment on the quality, just that I needed something slimmer.
Good, light warm, cheap (relatively)
January 23, 2010
This is a good jacket. I haven't punished it at all yet, but it is really light, packs well, and is very warm in freezing temps.
it is OK but....
December 12, 2012
Quality of the dawn excellent yet the amount in the jacket itself not sufficient. In future I will pick a jacket that weighs over 500 grams even if the quality of the dawn is poorer eg North Face
Great Jacket, Even Better Buy
January 17, 2011
After searching for a down mid-layer jacket (TNF, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware) to wear under as outer jacket and as a layer for my TNF shell for snowboarding, the Marmot Zues jacket was exactly what I was looking for: comformt, fit, color and price. I typically wear a larget but I got the Zues in Medium as it runs a bit large...still had lots of room to wear layers underneath without feeling like the little brother from holdiay movie growing up! The black color of this jacket looks like a very dark charcol which is nice not to look like I am wearing a trash bag like other jacket I tried. The weight is very good at 15oz., TNF Diez jacket I bought and returned came in at 10oz but couldn't tell much off a difference (I am also not using this jacket to pack in a sack and hike with so the extra 5oz is not an issue.) The cut on the medium is average, not too slim but too wide either. But overall, at 3/4th the cost of it competion, the Zues jacket is perfect for everyday, city wear even at 20 degress fahrenheit.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: no slim cutsAwesome jacket...

I found this jacket to be just what I had been looking for. It's a perfect one layer jacket for my urban lifestyle. I would wear a shell over it if I was to going back country. It feels like a feather and sooooo comfortable. It feels like a down sweater but is super warm. Bring on the cold!

April 15, 2011
Soft and cozy, great warmth-to-weight ratio. I live on a windy corner and this stops the wind well. Stayed dry in light rain but I'd put a shell over it with real rain. Trim fit (I'm 6ft, 205 lbs) but large has enough room for a fleece vest on cold days (20's). Great mid-layer when colder. Fits me better than comparable Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, TNF items. Packs down to nothing. Haven't had it long enough to comment on wear, but my other Marmot items have lasted through a lot!! Only con is no chest pocket (inner or outer) for small items like iPod, sunglasses.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: no chest pocketSuper light and warm
January 12, 2011
When I first put this jacket on my body wouldn't believe that this super light thing would keep me warm; it weighs about as much as a collared shirt, which is to say, not much. But it's warm. I've been out in this jacket and a sweater in 15 degree weather, and I was perfectly fine. I'm 6 foot, 175, and the medium fits perfectly. It's not bulky or puffy. I don't know about the durability. I wouldn't run through brush with it, but then it's not made for that. It packs up very small, so perfect for backpacking or if you're traveling between warm and cold climates and want to bring along a coat in your luggage. I've had the jacket three weeks now and I've worn it every day. It's enough to handle Wisconsin winters, which is saying something. Really glad I got it.

Nice Puffy Jacket
May 24, 2011
Just received the jacket in black. I'm 5'10'' and 170 lbs and ordered a medium. Fits snug, but a large in Marmot fits a little big. Quality is good. The jacket is very light and takes up little space in my backpack. Overall...very happy with the purchase. A great jacket for Fall and Spring and those cold Summer nights in the mountains.

Great as a mid-layer or light jacket
April 03, 2011
This is a great jacket which would work as a medium layer. I use it under a soft shell pr even under a leather coat. The warmth, weight and pack-ability makes it great to travel with in the winter. I have a similar vest which can be added for the really cold weather. Goose down makes so much more sense than the other duck down or the man made insulation, just don't get caught in the rain. I love the length and the drawstring in the hem.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great valueit is OK but....
