Liner issues.
January 19, 2011
I heard raves about the precip jacket, so I gave these a shot. The waterproofing was not an issue, pretty good actually. My issue was that the fleece liner became stuck at the tips. I ended up jamming my fingers a bit before the situation became hopeless and I dissected them. I was using these with smartwool liner gloves, a slicker type might work better... The grip is great.
Pros: Performance, Cons: Bad design, Low performanceBetter with liners

Was looking for high-quality, water-proof ski gloves to replace my 5yr-old ones. Great design itself is the real pros. And light weight, excellent water-proof functions, insulation for 15 degree in the slope are proven. But it goes better with liners - in my case, fleece liners works very well. If you looking for thicker, big-mountain-skiing gloves, you better check others.

Used this glove in combination with the marmot power stretch glove skiing in 20 degree temperatures and didn't experience any cold / wetness over a 6 hour duration. Excellent glove, highly recommended.

If you are looking for cycling gloves to wear in the rain that are truly waterproof but won't cause your hands to sweat profusely, then these are virtually the only gloves available. With taped seams, an elasticated gauntlet cuff and DriClime lining, hands stay warm and dry with minimal sweating. Pair these Precip gloves in size L with Marmot's Power Stretch gloves in the same size and you have a unique combination. I will often start out the day wearing only the Power Stretch gloves. When rain hits, I switch to the Precip gloves. If the temperatures drop drastically like it does at night in the winter time, I wear both pairs which together are a close fit but not tight. The Precip gloves are slightly oversize on their own to allow the Power Stretch gloves to fit inside. This isn't a problem if you are gripping handlebars or holding a ski pole and offers a little breathing space for your hands. I probably wear these gloves on their own for rain protection more than I do paired with the Power Stretch gloves. It is also easy to open and close the gauntlet using the elastic cord. GoreTex waterproof gloves simply don't breath enough for cycling. They are for the absolute coldest cycling weather only. Get Marmot Precip gloves if you want to ride your bike for hours in the rain.

Bummer about the other reviewer who had problems using these with Smartwool liners. Although these really aren't meant for cold weather (feels like the same tricot lining in Marmot's wind shells), I wore these for a hike on a 15 degree day with just the Smartwool liners. Fingertips started out a bit cold but after 10-15 minutes of activity my hands warmed up and stayed warm for the remaining hour and a half of the hike. The wind was really howling at times but my hands stayed warm, never felt the wind, and never felt even slightly wet. Never had the slightest problem with the liner/glove combination. Overall this is an excellent product - a very reasonably priced waterproof, breathable shell glove.

I was looking for good quality, water proof ski glove shells that cinch down to keep the snow out. These are exactly what I wanted. They are light weight and roomy enough to wear with liners but have enough insulation for > 20 degree temperatures (for my hands). They have all the features required for staying warm and dry in wet snow and seem to be well made.
