4.6 out of 5

I've used this when traveling and also for summer hiking. It's lightweight and easy to stuff into a pack or bag, and cuts the wind. Great pockets: two large hand pockets fit a Nalgene bottle or a wallet, inner mesh pocket is great for the phone. There's a drawcord to cinch up the waist and you can adjust the fit on the wrists with velcro straps. Pit zips would have been nice as it's not breathable; just a good lightweight rain jacket.
A hood alone is 5 Stars!
April 03, 2009
My daughter liked her mom's so much she wanted one. Both her mom and she like the way the hood lays perfectly flat against the back when not over their heads (with cord adjustments). This is apparently a great feature for those that don't often tuck their hoods in their collars! The Phoenix jacket must have been designed for those tuckless creatures in mind! The hood is not removable and cannot be inserted into the collar. Initially I was cool on the hood/collar design but now I see its advantages. Nice!
Highly recommend for outdoor people

All my trips are related to outdoors and backpacking. Great item for rainy and windy days. Great sizing(first purchase from women's not juniors part:)))which is in no need to be returned!)

Fit, freedom, vents, adjustments, two-way front zipper. My wife likes the Pheonix jacket a lot! She also has a Skyline. She wears the Pheonix for urban use and the Skyline for special excursions. Can't go wrong with either jacket.
I don't usually give 5 stars, but...

this piece is replacing my 10-yr-old Super Pluma from Patagonia, and I have to say Marmot has done better than the best with this shell. It is fabulously comfortable, has excellent features and is fitted properly for a woman. I wore it this winter weekend for snow tubing at Boyne in upper Michigan with silkweight baselayers and a wool insulating layer; it kept out the snow & wind and kept me dry. I am looking forward to using it with less insulation for x-country skiing, and then as a rain shell in the drippy spring.

Sorry Marmot, this one may be useful in some situations but the inside pockets are not attractive. They are meshlike material that seem to be in the way when the zipper is down. Ordered this hoping it would be breathable but have a more comfortable inside liner than my Precip.

I bought this jacket for a trip to London, it was perfect -- lightweight, yet rain-proof. It folds up (acutally I could roll it and put it in my large purse) without wrinkling too much and I loved the length of the jacket and its stylish classic look. Both my sister-in-law and daughter want one!
Love the Fit!
June 06, 2009
The women's style and fit of the Marmot rain jacket is exactly what I was looking for. I tried on other brands but nothing compared to this jacket. Lightweight and easy to wear over additional clothing. Love it so much I will be purchasing for one for my husband!
what I was looking for
March 23, 2012
I waited nearly a year before I experienced a rainstorm worthy to test this jacket-it passed with flying colors. The top portion of my body stayed dry while my legs and feet were drenched. I like the fleece lining on the inside of the collar; it prevented my neck, chin and mouth from feeling too clammy when I had it fully zipped up. It follows the contours of my female frame, but wasn't too snug. I am 5'6 125 and I purchased a small. One draw back is that the hood does not have a visor so I had a hard time seeing what was ahead of me when I had the hood drawstrings tightened against the rain.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Disappointed a bit with 2011 version
November 05, 2011
This is the 2nd Phoenix jacket Ive purchased for my family. The one I bought 2 years ago had a double zipper pull. This one has a single pull. The disadvantage of a single zipper pull is that stress is placed on the bottom of the zipper when sitting and it can tear the zipper away from the jacket. With a double pull you can unzip the bottom to relieve the stress. Also the jackets price increased dramatically. The next time I need to buy a womens rain jacket Ill likely look for something else. I gave the 2009 version 5 stars; this version 3 stars.
Nice rain jacket!
August 02, 2008
I bought this jacket for the next trip to seattle, so I haven't wear this in the rain yet. When I get this jacket, I tried it on in front of a mirror, it looked very very cute!I love it! I usually wear women's size 6 or 4, and I ordered size S of this rein jacket. The jacket leaves enough space to wear thin sweater under it. It fits nicely along my body line, so I look very feminine in this jacket. I cannot wait to wear this in rain. I am sure I will like rainy days better with this jacket.
Great spring jacket
March 25, 2008
With a proper fit and classic design, this jacket is ideal for women in need of a fall/spring jacket. It is also suitable as a winter jacket if worn with other layers. It blocks wind and water but is still breathable. Comfortable and well-made, this jacket is unbeatable.
great lightweight rain jacket
August 08, 2009
This jacket is lightweight and provides excellent coverage in the rain. The hood is adjustable in size by a cord in the back. Another nice feature is the folding collar on the inside of the hood. There are zippers under the armpits for breathability; the zippers are stiff at first, but after wearing it a few times, they won't be noticed. There are also two outside pockets that zip and an interior pocket. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my purchase and recommend it to others.
Can't wait for the rain,

Very impressed by the lightness and fabric design. I'm looking forward to putting it to use.

I bought my wife this jacket for an upcoming trip to Ireland. She really likes the breathability and style of the jacket. It's also light enough to wear during the rainy spring season. She definitely is pleased with the purchase.
Not So Hip
June 08, 2009
Let me start by saying it was hard to rate because as soon as I got the jacket I LOVED the color (tea green) and it's so lightweight, exactly what I was looking for because I often work outdoors in the hot, rainy Florida afternoons. However, while it fit perfect in the arms, bust and waist...the hips were too tight once zipped. I'm a very typical XL, so was surprised when it was so snug after zipping. I'm sadly returning it...wishing Marmot was more generous in their sizing because every other aspect of the jacket is superb.

I bought this jacket for my college age daughter. She was heading off to a cold weather college and needed a jacket that was warm, waterproof, and cute. This met all of our criteria. She ordered up one size so she had room for a fleece jacket under it. She also has long arms and wanted to have enough room. The zippers are easy to use and are sturdy. The jacket rolls up to fit in her book bag, so it is easy to transport. She also thought that it had the right amount of pockets and other features.

Bought 2. The ladies in the family love them. They don't like to tuck the hoods in the collars of their coats so this is a perfect design for them.
