Great Purchase
June 21, 2011
The product if very light weight which is convenient for traveling. Keeps you dry and cool with the underarm vents. Fits very nicely and is very comfortable. The only thing I wish this product had was side pockets. Otherwise this is a great purchase and works very well.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueBest Buddy

Replacing my much-loved Marmot Ion wind shirt (circa 2002) was an exercise in research. Marmot no longer made the "Ion," and the world of ultralight gear had exploded, so I had a big task ahead. First, what I loved about the "Ion" was the hood, the weight, and the fit. To me, a multi-purpose fast-pack jacket has to have a hood. Weighing in at 4 oz., there was no excuse to leave it behind, no matter what the outing. After reading up on the many offerings in the wind shirt/rain repellent arena, I was back to Marmot, and its "Trail Wind Hoody." It has all the features of the Ion, i.e. the hood, the feather weight (3.5 oz.), and the not-too-tight, not-too-loose, fit. There's room for a next-to-skin layer, and one more. This version has a sleeve pocket, and an interesting pattern, so it's not your boring solid color standard. This jacket is so perfact for ultrarunning, fastpacks - not to mention quick errands. So it's my best buddy, and it shows up in every photo of all the crazy things I get to do.

Great for Hikers
March 20, 2012
This product has less fabric than I thought it would for being a marmot jacket, but it does it's job. It is packable and lightweight, so if you like to hike, it's perfect!

Great windbreaker; not a rain jacket
July 11, 2011
As a light windbreaker, this jacket is unbeatable. It feels weightless, has no annoying velcro to snag other light clothing, and has lots of mesh under the arms to provide circulation. I had hoped that this could double as a rain jacket in case I got caught in a shower out on the trail, because it packs into nothing in a backpack. Alas, this would not work well in anything more than a drizzle because the material is like one molecule thin. Nice for breathability, but would soak through in any significant rain lasting more than a few minutes. They don't call it a rain jacket, so I can't really complain, but would recommend it highly as a windbreaker.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great valuegreat lightweight wind breaker

Love everything about this super lightweight wind breaker: blue color was brilliant, fit was long and lean with room for light layer under, material is super light yet strange and pack into its own pocket. Used it for multi-pitch climbing and it breaks wind nicely. Also used it to run 6 miles in light rain and it kept me fairly dry. I do sweat a little in it when run in the mid 50s with a Smartwool T-shirt under but for the price I really can't complain about its breathbility.

super lightweight, easy for travel

The jacket is very light weight and easy to pack in its own pocket. It is very convenient for traveling. I bought this jacket for trip to Grand Canyon in Septemper where weather is still warm, but light rains and strong wind will come and go. This jacket will definately keep you dry and cool with the underarm vents. Fits right. This is a great purchase and works very well
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: no side pocketsGreat for light jacket

I purchased this for a trip to Maui where I knew I might need light rain and definately some wind protection. It was in July, but I get chilly and want something on my arms on overcast days. We were going to be active, ziplining, etc. This was perfect and my favorite option is that it folds into the zippered arm pocket. The description on many websites didn't mention this which I think is a big plus for active gals. It would be a perfect jacket if it also had outside pockets, but I understand wanting to keep it slim AND if it was completely waterproof. I'd say it's great in some wind but will get wet eventually. It is a fitted cut so if you've got a little stomach, it probably won't suit you. I wore it to the top of Haleakala with layers underneath and I wasn't cold. I loved it so much I got it in black for my husband who loves it also and clips the pouch to his belt loop when out and about. The perfect late spring/summer take anywhere jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: no outside pockets, not completely waterproofWrite a review for the Marmot Trail Wind Hoody here.
Very much a FITTED jacket
July 27, 2012
I am 5'3", 32a, 27" waist, 40" hips, and 120lbs. While I am petite in height and from the waist up, I am quite curvy in the hips--I'm a pear. With that said, the size small jacket fit quite well from the waist up. The sleeves were not too long, which is a common issue for us women under 5'4". Arm width and chest fit well, with just a little bit of room. My only complaint for someone of my shape is from the waist down. While I know this meant to be more a fitted jacket, it is cut to either hang straight at the bottom, or be cinched using the drawstring. Wearing it straight was a little difficult for me with the hip situation. The jacket rode up a little, bunching at the waist. Since this jacket can be worn both ways, it would be nice if, A- It was shaped a little more for women's curves at the hip. It has the drawstring should less curvy women need to draw it in, so why not make it just a little wider, especially if you were to wear any kind of gear while running, biking, climbing, etc. B- The other thing I would change is the length. I was barely able to pull the small over my hips, but even when I did, I didn't give much coverage in my opinion. The back is cut slightly longer, and it still felt a little too short. I realize this is a jacket and not a coat, but I would like the option to have more coverage, and then draw it up if I want less. I think a medium might be a better length and hip fit for me. I bought the Sulfphur color, and it looks little more neon in person than what I saw on the monitor, but I actually like that. Sort of a neon chartreuse. The accent trim color is a magenta/hot pink, again I like the brightness, but it you're looking for something more muted then I'm not sure any of the colors, other than black will work for you. I can't rate the performance of the jacket as I don't want to cut of the tags and wear it out. I will probably end up ordering the medium and compare the two fits. Overall, I would say this 'appears' to be a nice performance piece that has a very fitted cut.
Pros: Build quality, Cons: could be cut bettercompact light jacket

i love the color and design, and how light and compact it is to pack it right in the arm pocket. it is not very comfortable in the humid condition or in the rain. it's water resistant, but not water proof.
