Overall Good
March 20, 2012

I got this jacket to use while backpacking. I figured it'd be a perfect jacket because it's highly packable but it would also keep me warm at night. It's incredibly comfortable and I love the stretchy aspect to it. I think the stretchiness will be very nice to have while moving around in a sleeping bag. However, the very first day I wore it (to work - not doing some sort of recreational activity) I noticed a large tear in the purple (puffy) front part of my jacket. I wasn't doing anything too hazardous so I'm not sure why it tore. I'm sending it in to get fixed/replaced because I still think it'll be a great jacket for hiking/backpacking. I just hope that it doesn't tear if I brush up against a branch or bush.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Poor quality

Love this jacket
August 02, 2011

I purchased the variant jacket at the beginning of the winter and found myself living in it. I recently purchased another one because I love it so much. It is warm, yet flexible, and thin enough that it doesn't feel bulky. I don't wear it during training, but I wear for everything else. Great jacket!

Great light layer!

I received this for Christmas and have already worn it three times! I do think it runs a little long...If you are short waisted you may want to consider ordering a size smaller.

Very efficient warmth for high output activity

This is a great concept and well executed. Works well for biking and skiing. Warmer than expected, particularly under a shell, easy to dump heat by unzipping.

Great for winter running!
January 16, 2012

I got this coat last week and have already worn on 2 cold weather runs (9 degrees and 13 degrees). I think this is my new favorite winter running coat! Not only is it super warm and breathable, but it also fits perfectly. I have a very small frame (5 ft tall, 95 lbs), and I have a hard time finding clothes that fit true to size. Marmot is one of my favorite brands, and a size XS actually fits like an XS.

Absolutely great!
January 06, 2011

Bought one for my husband and one for myself. It is beautiful, very chic, and finished to the last detail. Also very warm. I did ski in just two layers on the warmer days, this jacket being the outer one. The only thing you should keep in mind is that it runs a little smal. I'm 5ft8in/118lb/34D - usually wearing size 2. I've purchased the Variant in size S and it looks just right meaning there's no extra room. If you want to wear more than one layer underneath or prefer a loose fit, go size up. Size XL on my 6ft5in/220lb. husband looks just right as well.

This jacket has a very trendy look and is very lightweight. I had to return it though because while I usually wear XS this jacket fit like it was XXS. No biggie, it's still a quality product. It's my first Marmot purchase so maybe Marmot brands run small.

Women's Variant Jacket
August 05, 2011

I LOVE this jacket. It is a perfect piece for layering and chic enough for apres ski. It is quite warm given its thin contoured profile. The colors are great (I have red). I highly recommend this great jacket. Big fan!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
