I'm on my second pair. Amazing shoe, plenty of stability and cushioning. I used to run also. I wouldn't run a race in them, but it's a great ride for a training shoe. From November to March...don't think that I took them off.

I have worn the Ventilators for 6 months now and I have to say they are easily the best "compromise" hiker I've worn. Best for 2-5 mile walks over predictable terrain, but still very supportive over rocks, roots, and doing moderate elevation. Not bad for plain old casual wear also. Would definitely recommend

My boyfriend and I were going to Dominica for five days. Dominica is a very mountainous island, and most of the sites require light hiking anywhere from a matter of minutes to three hours.
After falling off the roof when building his house, my boyfriend almost had to have his right foot amputated...luckily a surgeon took him on as a case study to rebuild his foot. He is often in pain when he is on his foot for long periods of time.
So I searched for a pair of hiking shoes in a wide size that would be comfortable and protect his foot when we did any hiking in Dominica. I found this shoe, and not only did he like the style of the shoe, but it was the only pair of shoes he took on the trip, and he didn't complain about his foot once!

I'm on my third pair. They are great, comfortable work shoes and good for long distance walking and hiking as well. Would get five stars, but they lack some impact resistance and can also leave your feet a little sore in jagged rocky terrain. In the wrong environment it seems like you can feel every pebble! Be careful!

I take a wide fitting shoe and the ventilator has to be the most comfortable hiking shoe I have put on straight out of the box. Absolutely no rubbing or blisters even on a strenuous 5 mile walk from new.
I bought the shoes for hiking in the Stirling Range in West Australia, but used them in the snow in Montana and my feet remained dry in spite of the ventilation.
