Great Shoe
This is my second pair of these shoes, first worked out great and I expect the same from this pair.
They are size 13, I typically wear a 12 or 12.5.
Hope they are still available for my third pair.

Awesome Shoe
I bought these for my husband and he loves them. They are very comfortable and offer the arch support he was looking for. They run a tad small so I bought him a 1/2 size larger.

I am big Merrell fans and these are not a disappointment. In my opinion they are the most comfortable shoes. I used tham this summer in Europe for hiking up and down hills/mountains and on lots of rocky areas. They add stability and make the hiking easier as well as give lots of support.

very good shoe
This is the 5th pair I have bought and I really like them. Comfortable, quick drying. I use them for work and recreation. While wearing them out I have had several people comment that the have a pair and like them. I only wear Merrills.

Great shoe and service
I've been buying Moabs for about four years and they are a great looking, comfortable, and durable shoe. More impressive than the shoe is Altrec's return/exchange policy. I mis ordered the shoe by half a size. I tried wearing them, but found them too small to be comfortable. Altrec exchanged the shoe even though they had been worn and I didn't have a box. They have earned a customer for life.

Needed a Wide Shoe
I needed a wide shoe and this one fits very well. I previously purchased a Keen but within a year the sole wore out. I feel better about having the Vibram sole on this one.

Great shoe!
My son is on his 4th pair of Moab Ventilators. He says they are the most comfortable shoe around. The shoes are good for everyday school wear and then they take him backpacking all summer! Great traction, never too hot, and they look good!

Great All-around Shoe
I had a great experience with my first pair of Merrell boots, so I was inclined to try their shoes and have been pleased overall. This is my third pair of this model and obviously I like them well enough to keep buying them. They are one of the few shoes of this style that I've found in the wider sizes (I wear 11.5 EE's) so that's a major plus for me.
I live in central Texas so the fact that these breath well is a major plus (especially this summer - 2011)! The soles have good traction and have worn very well.
I have been a disappointed in the quality of the materials used. The pull loops on my first pair tore off in the first week that I had them. This was a minor issue and since I really didn't need them, I just ignored it. On my second pair, the material on the side of the heel, side of the ball of the foot, and around the top eyelet began tearing. I consider this to be a major quality issue. However, since I'd bought them shortly after my first pair (and had stored them for more that a year) and they were over two year old at the time, I didn't even try to get a warranty replacement. I just looked for a new pair.
Obviously, I like them well enough to put up with their shortcomings.

great shoes
great every day shoes but rugged enough for light hiking. i have a wide foot and these shoes are very roomy and fit well. very comfortable and can be worn all day long. have had other merrell shoes and they wear well and are long lasting.

Hiking not running
I bought this shoes for hiking small places mostly. Its been wonderful so far. Its been almost been a year, the shoe is in great shape. Very comfortable and light. These shoes run a bit tight and small. So get 1/2 size larger than your shoe size. It has good cushion, and back foot support. I would not recommend this for jogging or running. But excellent for small everyday hiking.

Great Shoe
The Moab Ventilator is a great fitting and supporting shoe that holds up well to all conditions. The shoe is also one of the few available in a wide width for a resonable price. I bought a second pair to wear to work everyday!

Great fit and ventiliation
I echo what everyone else has said here - these shoes fit great and are wonderful for hiking in hot dry climates. For the first time in years (and likely ever) my feet weren't slimy or clammy after a hike on a really hot day. I have a narrow heel with a high instep and wear orthotics as a result, and I was psyched that these shoes fit over the orthotics without any problem. The only drawback to the shoes is the back of the heel is kind of low, so my foot lifted out a bit while I was hiking - heavier socks should fix this. Also, twigs and grass get stuck in the mesh outer layer, but this doesn't bother me too much. Finally, I didn't pay extra for the waterproof Moabs - I think the lack of waterproofing makes the shoes even more breathable, and if I wanted waterproof shoes I wouldn't buy mesh ones to begin with.

Exellent shoe
The Moab Ventilater hiking shoe is another great Merrell shoe. The shoe is light weight, true to size, and very comfortable. I have diabetes and must have a good shoe. I am 66 years of age and love the design and color. It is not just for young men.

Excellant shoe
I have been wearing this shoe for several years. It comes straight out of the box ready to go 5 miles. It is light weight and yet very supportive. The heel section of the shoe is very thick providing great shock absorbtion as I am heavy on my feet. The foward sole bed is thick and very comfortable. The sole pattern gives great traction on any trail you walk on making you feel very stable all the time. The only problem I have had is the laces have to be double tied or they keep coming untied - at least on my foot. I keep one pair for trail walking and one pair for casual wear. Other than the Sawtooth hiking boot, this is my go to shoe.
The fit is true to size. I am 250 and am 5'8" tall and this shoe gives me great fit and comfort.
If you want multi-purpose shoe that is at home on the trail or the mall this is the shoe for you.

Merrell Vents
This is a quality shoe but beware it does run half a size too small. They are very comfortable and have owned several pair. The colors are pretty neutral and go with most things. I would definately buy these again. A+++++++

Great Shoes
I have had a pair of Merrell Moab Ventilators for about a year. I was pleased with them on day one; I am still pleased with them. I have found them to be very comfortable with just enough support/stability to be very versatile. They are great for walks around the neighborhood and for light hikes. The Vibram sole has held up very well and the tread provides good traction on a variety of surfaces. It’s tough to beat Vibram. The ventilation/breathability is superb. I typically use these shoes spring through fall switching to an all leather/waterproof shoe for winter. My foot runs wide and these fit great. Well done Merrell.

Comfortable fit
I bought these for light summer hiking on defined trails. They are lightweight, supportive, and comfortable. The mesh panels allow them to breathe, so they're a good choice for warmer weather. Of course, they're not waterproof, so they're not good in the rain. I found the fit to be a little smaller, so I had to go with 1/2 size larger than normal. Mine has some orange detailing on it, that I wish had been left off, but I still like the shoe. It's a VERY casual look, they can't really be worn with nice pants to go out for dinner.

Great hiking shoes for wide feet
Alrec carries a nice selection of shoes for those needing wider widths. Merrell makes some light and comfortable shoes and I can't wait to see how they perform out on the trails. Alrec's return policy is exceptional and their pricing very competitive.

Great shoe
We are big Merrell fans and these are not a disappointment. My husband absolutely loves these shoes - says they are the most comfortable shoes. We live in the Rockies so they are used for hiking up and down hills/mountains and on lots of rocky areas. They add stability and make the hiking easier as well as give lots of support.

Excellent hiking, walking shoes
I have worn Merrell Moab Ventilators for several years now and they are possibly the most comfortable but supportive shoes I've ever worn. A real hybrid between a running shoe and hiking shoe.

Great shoe, I highly recommend it
Let me start off by saying I am not really a hiker but I am an avid runner with a different set of running shoes ( Nike Free 5.0). For the past few years I have had an issue with shoes hurting my feet (Nike, Adidas, New Balance ect) and it really bothers me. My brother has a set of Keene's that he swears by and my Keene's are just Ok in my opinion. I got these shoes as an everyday shoe to replace a pair of Nike's that hurt my feet after a month or so. This shoe is by far one of the most comfortable show I have ever owned. I like the look of a running shoe and I feel hiking shoe is a bit bulky but NOT this shoe.
Since I have only worn this shoe for a few weeks I can tell its a very solid and well made shoe. For the money you can not go wrong and its pretty stylish compaired to other hoking shoes on the market.

merrell is the best!!!
ive spent 30+ years working 12 to 15 a day on concrete and now i find that fitting my feet is harder than ever.i walk a pair of shoes down in a month(except merrell!!!) and usually the last week of that time is hard to stay in them. luckily i received a pair of merrells for christmas last year and i managed to make the year with 2 pair!!!if i get apair that doesnt break quickly then i cant wear them they hurt my feet,but with merrell shoes i get total comfort with a durability factor. if youve never tried a pair please give them a try you wont be dissappointed!!!

Very comfy
The Men's Moab Ventilator hiking shoes are great shoes. I need a wide shoe and these fit perfect. Very light and very well ventilated. Would give 5 stars except that the shoe laces are defective. The laces bunch up in the eye holes and fray and pull apart. Called Merrell and they mailed me new laces, but the new ones are defective also. Will stick with Merrell regardless, even if i have to buy separate laces myself.

Excellent!!
This is the third pair of Merrell's I have owned and have yet to have a pair I did not like. They are sporty looking yet comfortable and provide the support my feet need. I don't know that I will ever buy another brand.

Super comfortable right out of the box!
Perfect for summer hikes, these are some of the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever owned. I hiked 5 miles in them the day they arrived and they felt like were already broken in...great shoes!

Comfortable, great looking and it fits!
I've never been able to just go to the shoe store and buy a pair of shoes that fit my wide foot. I've purchased online at various shoe stores and have always had to return do to not fitting properly. This shoe is very comfortable and fits like a glove. I would recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a wide shoe that fits.

Extremely comfortable
I have owned many pairs of Merrell shoes and these are by far the most comfortable. It is true that they do not need to be broken in which is a huge plus to avoid painful blisters. My old hiking shoes are now being used for yard work.

Great Shoe - Great Size
If you have wide feet, hiking shoes can present a problem. Go to REI and they can't help you. I searched "wide size hiking boots" and got to Altrec and the Moab Ventilator. The only one I found that comes in wide (EEE) and man, what a shoe. The most comfortable shoe I own - and it's for hiking. Not knowing exactly what size, I ordered it in 10 and 10.5. I returned the 10.5 and the process couldn't have been easier. Had to pay for return shipping -- but that was entirely fair. Glad I found Altrec and now I have "happy hiking wide feet."

I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat.
I wear orthotics and have often had trouble finding comfortable hiking shoes that allow for the orthotics insole & still be wide enough. No problem with these Moab Ventilator's in any of these areas - I love my Merrill's & only wish they offered more of their styles in wide sizes. It would cause me to buy several more pair - I am especially interested in wide size Merrell Men's Chameleon3 Stretch GORE-TEX Shoes.

Great all around shoe
I have worn Merrell shoes and boots for years. Having wide feet with high arches, fit is extremely important, and Merrell shoes have always fit well. The Moab Ventilator is no exception. It is a sturdy, comfortable, light-weight shoe that I can wear all day for just about any activity -- yard work, playing with kids, walking, hiking, etc. My feet never tire in them, unlike when I wear running shoes or other light duty footwear.

So far so good
Have not had these shoes long enough to give a 5 star rating. I ordered the 2E wide shoe because that's what I normally wear, and it's very comfortable and airy, but very roomy. I'm tempted to order a medium size because I'm sure that as these get older they will stretch out even more. They are built very well and I'm sure they will last a long time. I like the soles on these, lifts you up like a 4x4! Very nice shoes.

Great boot or shoe
This is one of the best shoe or boot that I have ever have. This is the second pair I bought because they were so comfortable and well made. I use them as office shoes. The comfort is great but it is the grabbing of the vibram sole that is amazing. I may have to buy a third pair is case Merrel decides to stop making them.

Great Everyday Shoe and My Fifth Pair
I am happy to see that Merrell keeps this shoe active in its line and only changes the colors. The one I just bought is my fifth and they are the best everyday walking shoe I have ever used. Very comfortable, a lot of support and rugged. Altrec is also great as usual and I have never been disappointed with anything I have purchased from them, quick shipping and good customer service.

Problem with instep
I have wide feet with low arches. I am a mild over-pronator. I use shoes in the yard and for casual wear. The Moab Ventilator was sized correctly and the arch support was perfect for my flat feet. The problem I had was with what I think was a support shank or pod in the instep which dug into my arch as I walked. I returned the shoes.

Great shoe for a hard-to-fit woman's foot
I have gone through three pairs of these now, each lasting for about a year of serious daily wear. I have a wider foot with shorter toes, and the dimensions of this men's shoe are very comfortable for me (and that's really saying something!). I do wish the men's style came in more creative colors, though. The one drawback is that I wear them in winter as well, and the ventilation can cause some dampness and serious cold feet, even here in California, on the chilly morning hikes I take. Also, the fabric on the inner heal area of the shoe tends to wear out before the rest of the item. Still, they are really the only shoe I wear, day in and day out.

Great all-around shoe for skinny feet
First, the Moab Ventilator is a comfy, well-built light hiker that begs to be worn everywhere. Even better, they fit my skinny feet better than any brand I've ever worn. I'm super pleased with them and will be buying another pair.

GREAT SHOE
Lots of ventilation. A sole that does not wear down easily. Can be worn in city or hiking modes. I own 2 pairs of these shoes because of the comfort and ventilation because I sweat A LOT. A great choice for all seasons except winter.

Very good and the best ever
This is the second Merrell Moab Ventilator I bought for spare. The first one I have been using it everyday for hiking, for playing golf, and everyday activities. It is really feels great. Very comfortable.

Great design, wonderfully built
With almost no break-in required, great arch support and plenty of ventilation, these shoes have performed flawlessly in a one week hiking trip in Maine and Nova Scotia. Air cushioning added the extra comfort over rugged terrain without impairing the shoe stability. After a day of hiking, I didn't feel the need to switch to something more comfortable.

This is my second pair of Merrell Moab. I bought my first pair a few years ago and wore them everywhere. I am excited to see there are more colors to choose from. It was difficult to find the various choices in retail stores, but Altrec offers the full line.

Best shoe I ever bought
I have a pair of Vaque hiking boots that have served me well for about 10 years. However they are a bit too beat up for hiking on all but flat grippy trails. With a hike up Half Dome 3 weeks away I needed something that would get the job done, be comfortable to where as an every day shoe, break in fast, and look good too (hey, why not). These delivered on all counts. I wore them to work (desk job) for about 2 weeks and then put them on for an 18 mile hike up 5000' feed of granite. They performed great. One small blister on my small toe, but not even so much as a hot spot on my heels where I usually get nasty blisters. Climbing the cables these provided plenty of grip and didn't shred apart like some other people's shoes were. Feet stayed cool and comfortable the entire day. Bottom line, best shoe I've ever purchased hands down.

Great shoe

Solid performer and excellent work shoe.
I'm on my third pair. They are great, comfortable work shoes and good for long distance walking and hiking as well. Would get five stars, but they lack some impact resistance and can also leave your feet a little sore in jagged rocky terrain. In the wrong environment it seems like you can feel every pebble! Be careful!

Merrell is the only brand that consistently fit my husband's feet and provide adequate support. He is on his 4th pair of this style. He prefers this style for hiking and summer use because his feet stay cool.

A great hiking shoe
I take a wide fitting shoe and the ventilator has to be the most comfortable hiking shoe I have put on straight out of the box. Absolutely no rubbing or blisters even on a strenuous 5 mile walk from new. I bought the shoes for hiking in the Stirling Range in West Australia, but used them in the snow in Montana and my feet remained dry in spite of the ventilation.

Buy again and again
I'm on my second pair. Amazing shoe, plenty of stability and cushioning. I used to run also. I wouldn't run a race in them, but it's a great ride for a training shoe. From November to March...don't think that I took them off.

great multi-purpose shoe
I have worn the Ventilators for 6 months now and I have to say they are easily the best "compromise" hiker I've worn. Best for 2-5 mile walks over predictable terrain, but still very supportive over rocks, roots, and doing moderate elevation. Not bad for plain old casual wear also. Would definitely recommend

Must Be Good!
My boyfriend and I were going to Dominica for five days. Dominica is a very mountainous island, and most of the sites require light hiking anywhere from a matter of minutes to three hours. After falling off the roof when building his house, my boyfriend almost had to have his right foot amputated...luckily a surgeon took him on as a case study to rebuild his foot. He is often in pain when he is on his foot for long periods of time. So I searched for a pair of hiking shoes in a wide size that would be comfortable and protect his foot when we did any hiking in Dominica. I found this shoe, and not only did he like the style of the shoe, but it was the only pair of shoes he took on the trip, and he didn't complain about his foot once!
