Love these boots
December 04, 2012
This is my 4th pair. Best work and hiking boots ever. Lightweight, cushioned, breathable. And I buy the moab goretex for winter. They hold up great. I can wear a pair every day for 6 to 8 months.
Pros: no consMerrells are awesome!
July 06, 2009
This is the second pair of Merrells I have owned. The Walmart shoes just aren't cutting it. From the first time I put them on, they were comfortable. I have wide feet so I got the shoes a size bigger. Figuring out the sizing chart was a bit of a challenge, but I managed. These shoes are great for walking and hiking. They allow great ventilation. My feet aren't sore at the end of the day. They have a natural curve to them that makes it easier to walk. Someone actually took their time and did it right. They aren't water proof so don't even try it! I walk to work everyday, four miles and they are great for the urban commute. Great ankle support. Of all the shoes out there, I went out of my way to buy Merrells. It would be nice to have a solid color on the sole as these are two tone, but if you can get over the color on the bottom of your shoe and enjoy the great traction, these are the shoes for you! Enjoy! I highly recommend them.
Kick-butt boots that actually fit
May 06, 2010
I am very happy with these boots. They call them mid hiking shoes but they wear like my old Merrell's from years ago. More recently I had made the mistake of shopping from places that don't offer wide sizes. I have shoes that fit alright but are too long. For real hiking, I got the 12 WIDE and I am so happy. Plus shipping was super-fast and the price was the best online or in any store.
Impressive Comfortability
February 24, 2011
I was more than pleased to find these Boots both light weight and comfortable the 1st time I wore them. They feel more like a athletic shoe but with greater stability. I wear custom orthotics and the wide made them compatable with this boot. I look forward to warmer ,dryer wether so i can wear these full time on my daily hike. This purchase will compel me to look at Merrell as a go to brand, I am a fan of Keen but they seem to lack consistant quality control and sizing for my needs as I wear a EE another reason I am big on the option with Morrell.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, feather litegreat boots!

I purchased the Moab's as I needed a shoe that would breath well and also dry quickly. We (my wife and I) were doing a trip in the Gila Wilderness NM that required over 70 stream crossings in a 20 mile stretch. From the reviews I read it looked like the Moab's might fit the bill. The fact that they were offered in a wide size was another plus. These shoes did great on that trip, they were comfortable right out of the box and required very little break-in. They were wet for the most part of two days straight. The remainder of our trip was at higher elevations with lots of climbing- they worked remarkably well for that portion as well. I never had so much as a hot spot the entire six days! Since then they've been used on two other backpacking trips, one that saw three 20 mile days with lots of elevation gain/loss. I've been very impressed with the Moabs, very comfortable shoe, lightweight, breath and drain well and holding up surprisingly well. I'd definitely recommend this shoe for folks looking for a lightweight, comfortable hiker that can take some punishment.

Got these for my husband since I have Moab's and found them comfortable right out of box. He needs wide which was available in his size. He said they felt great right out of box as well. Very pleased with shoes and service.
Great boots ( Merrells are nice to your feet)

I have been a Merrell user for quite some time I have had 4 foot operations on one foot and the Merrell are the way to go. I got these and they are nice light weight and your feet can breath in them. This will be my 5th pair of Merrells

I liked the look and color of this shoe from the beginning. And I researched this shoe very carefully before placing the order --- making sure that I had the right sizing with my likely choice of socks. So far my use has been “light hiking” (with a day pack) in the hills above Berkeley, CA and on the trails at the Pt. Reyes National Park. And I also matched the shoe with a Superfeet “Orange” insole. That combination has produced the right fit. But for me it did take me a few hours on the trail to completely break in and get comfortable with this pair. I plan to buy this same shoe and insole combination whenever this pair wears out.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueWell made and comfortable!

The Moab is a well made pair of shoes, that were comfortable to wear after a short break in period. (Left shoe was tight in the arch area at first). Now wish I had ordered the Gore-Tex model for some waterproof protection.

Gave them to my husband for Father's Day, he absolutely loves the boots, he tells me they are comfortable and they keep his socks and feet dry..Great buy!!
Very good purchase

I love my new hiking boots they have a really good arch support that helped me greatly on the long hike I took in them. I had to get men's because they fit better in the toe box area. I have happy feet now when hiking.
Lightweight performance hiker, not alot of ankle support
August 18, 2008
A good summer hiker that ventilates well.If your walking/ running up and down a rocky trail these will work well for you. Don't add a backpack however, as the ankle support is minimal and might not keep you from rolling your tarsels on loose rocks. Soft and quick, ready to go out of the box.
Great boots!! Like walking on marshmallows!!

Great Boots
July 17, 2011
These boots are so comfortable that they almost feel like slippers; no breaking-in is necessary for almost any person. My bottom line: these boots are great if you want to go fast and light and can sacrifice durability, and they are great for trail hiking in warm weather.
Pros: lightweight, comfortablecomfy and stylish
June 11, 2010
pros - great for day hikes, light and agile. good for hot and dry terrain to moist. look great, not clunky or too outdoor guyish. cons - the footbeds wore out really fast and i didn't get alot of arch support. the color shown is beluga but the one i got was walnut brown, just so you know...
Great boot... but

Merrell makes a great product. This boot gets a great review for all the right reasons. It has good solid construction, great comfort, and it lets you go out and do the things you love to do. The only hangup is the sizing. It tends to run a little small. I ordered these for my husband who wears a standard size 15 in all other brands. The Merrell 15 rubs the toe a little too much for hiking. For wearing casually, it's not a problem but for any serious trekking, they would be uncomfortable and potentially cause problems. Unfortunately, there are no half sizes in the upper size range so these will have to go back. They still get a great rating because there is nothing to complain about regarding the boot itself - just be careful with sizing.
Pros: great construction, Cons: runs smallIt's for real!

This shoe is everything it's advertised to be. The most comfortable hiking and all around shoe I've ever worn. I going to start giving them to family members as gifts I'm so impressed with the shoe feel and quality.

great shoe - my husband loves it... It gives him support but is light and very comfortable. He is on his feet all day long and he says this is the only boot he will ever wear... Service with Altrec was great also..
Great Shoe

Real lightweight and comfortable, I use it for a lot of walking and hiking up hilly mountain sides and it holds up very nicely. Best to get a half size bigger.

Excellent Hiking Boot
April 10, 2012
I purchased these hiking boots for my son as a gift, and he loves them. He said they are the most comfortable hiker that he has ever worn. They are true to size and are lightweight and have good support. He said his feet don't sweat anymore like they did when he wore his old hiking boots. Try these, you won't be dissapointed.
Comfortable, light, well made
April 27, 2010
The shoe feels more like a sneaker than like a hiking shoe, although the sole definitely says 'hiking' and not 'running'. They wear very nicely. My one point of critique - and the reason for giving 4 instead of 5 stars - are the lacing eyelets. Fabric eyelets look cute but I fear they're going to wear out very quickly. I'd gladly pay extra for the same shoe with metal eyelets.
light weigtht and comfortable right away

Had to order on line as most stores don't carry many 13 plus boots. My son is a 12 1/2 or 13 regular foot, and the size 13 boots fit great. He plans to wear them on the Appalachian trail, so hope they hold up! shipping was fast and not problems.
very good 3 season boot
January 03, 2013
This is a very soft, light, comfortable general purpose boot. Reliable for day hikes. The sole has held up well over 2 years of light use. It's very breathable as it's not waterproof. It also means very little insulating properties so winter use is rather limited. Since there's no waterproofing liner, then the top suede/mesh material is soft and very flexible. Be careful to order the right width size. I chose a wide ( which is tad too loose for me) and when laced firmly, the front of the boot bunched up the edge of the base of the tongue ( towards the front) and it creates an uncomfortable sharp edge that can be a painful rub against a toe. Normally, a waterproof boot will be rigid enough not to bunch up the way this boot might.
Great boots, some caveats
June 06, 2011
Finally someone gets serious about making well-ventilated hiking boots. I've been waiting for something like this for California conditions for years. Overall these boots are comfortable but tend to run unusually short - order at least a half-size up. Also makes squelching noises on tile and wooden floors.
Pros: comfortable, Cons: runs small, noisy on hard surfacesMerrell Ventilator Hiking Boot

Great lite weight boot that fits fantastic, I've tried numerous other boots and found that most dont have any arch support. These boots fit and feel great even after walking 10 miles at a time. I walk my dog in all kinds of weather and I've found these to be the best boot I've purchased thus far. Im buying another pair today.

Good lightweight boot - Comfortable right out of the box
September 30, 2009
I bought this for light hiking and general use and I like the comfort. I ordered a "wide" to handle a hammer toe problem and there's plenty of room in the toe box without cramping my toes. Not much ankle support (which I knew from other reviews) but it's a good boot for my needs.

The Moab Ventilator is very light and comfortable for those long hikes in the woods. Well ventilated and waterproof. I highly recommend this boot to anyone.
Great Gift!

I recently purchased another pair of these boots for my son. He likes them so well he now wants me to order a pair for his girlfriend as a graduation gift.

December 23, 2012
I bought this shoe right after my foot surgery and it has been the best shoe I have had. I have bought 3 pairs now I am looking for a new pair. Most comfortable boots or shoes that I have ever owned. Felt good even after 5 miles. Need to go further on my next hike.
