Men's Outbound Mid GORE-TEX Hiking Boot 4.8 5 9 9
Good boots... I do really like these boots as they are sturdy and waterproof. The fit is good as it still leaves room for thick socks. However, I recommend that you do not lace them up tight if you have sensitive shins. I tied them too tight one day and bruised the sides of my legs above the ankles. I recommend keeping the boots a little loose until you have broken them in a bit. Please note that I am wearing them 12 plus hours a day. For me I think they will become a great pair of boots that take a little time to break in. I would highly recommend them. January 27, 2012
Good smellin, good lookin, boots I initially bought these shoes cause I thought they looked awesome. The reviews I read were mostly good with a few complaints. As far as I'm concerned, I don't have a single big complaint about them. Listed below are my favorite features of this boot: 1. They look awesome 2. With the exception of my zamberlan tofanes, they are the most comfortable boots I own. 3. They are completely waterproof( I've put them to the test) 4. They are durable( I've had great durability from every pair of Merrels I've owned) 5. They smell good , even when You wear them for a long time( I know some people hate the smell but I like it). Only one minor complaint; the tongue is too puffy. It you wear them with shorts they look a little weird. September 16, 2011
So far, so good Coming off a pair of Asolo's that absolutely KILLED my feet, these Merrell's seem to be the trick. I've only worn them a few times locally, so I'll have to put some real miles on them to make a true assessment. But I can say already they feel good. Initial fit seemed tight, but as soon as I started walking, they felt good. Nice and light and seemingly durable. Some glue showing around the sole attachment, so I hope that's not trouble down the road. I'll update to a full review after some miles. August 23, 2011
Great boot, prefer the leather version. This is a great boot, however I have found that I prefer the slightly more expensive leather upper, compared to this version with the Cordura upper. I found in using the Cordura version (this version here) that while the Goretex membrane worked great, the boot trapped water between the membrane and the Cordura / Poly lower portion of the boot. It wasn't a big deal, but I decided to see if the leather boot would perform a little better, and it did. I had this boot fully submerged in about 4 inches of standing water and my foot stayed dry, I dunked my foot into 8 inches of moving water and my foot stayed relatively dry, just some water seepage near the top as you would expect. All in all a great boot, I just preferred the leather, because to me it was one more layer of protection, before the Goretex had to do its job. Either way you go, this boot is a sturdy boot, with little to no break in required, yet very supportive both in the ankle and arches. A little overbuilt for day hikes (if thats your thing), but perfect for backpacking. The lacing and fit are top notch and as long as your foot is a good match for the boot, you will not be dissatisfied. Highly recommended like most all Merrell Footwear I have purchased. May 13, 2011
Fantastic Hiking Boot I've had these boots for about a week and a half and have already put about 100 miles of trails on them. I have a wide foot and a VERY hard time finding shoes and boots that fit me. These boots fit incredibly well right out of the box!!! I am hiking the JMT this summer and I have no doubts whatsoever as to these boot's ability to take care of my needs. I will post afterward to let you know how they did, but I'm very confident they'll perform as well as I think they will!!! My only complaint, and it's really nit-picking I think, is that the top of the tongue foldsover rather than staying flat and has a tendency to catch the bottom of your pant leg . Kind of annoying but....anyway, ENJOY!!!!! January 26, 2011
Great hiking boot This is an awesome hiking boot. The materials are of high quality and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if these boots lasted 5 years or more. The fit was good right out of the box with zero break in period required. I've been wearing them daily and have no complaints whatsoever. January 11, 2011
Great for long treks Soft and very comfortable....like floating through the woods! Laces stay where they are supposed to stay. October 14, 2010
Great Very comfortable very good shoes August 19, 2010
No break in required My husband bought these to get a little added support. He recently suffered from a stress fracture in his right foot. These boots are soft and comfortable yet at the same time supportive. We hike 2-3 times per week. His first break in hike was up one of the 4000 footers of NH. He said they were comfortable from the moment he put them on. Still comfortable after 8 miles and 3000 feet. August 2, 2010
