Very comfortable!
Took a three hour hike in these boots right out of the box. Expected to suffer accordingly but not so. You'll need a good insert but these boots are really comfortable and this is the second pair I've bought. They are as waterproof as advertised which is more than I can say for some other boots I've had. Without reservations, I give these a five star rating.

2nd Pair of Outland
This is my 2nd Pair of Merrell Outland Hiking Boots. I wore out the first pair that I purchased a couple years ago. The boots are fantastic. I use these boots for work in both Cincinnati and Baltimore and never had any issues with these boots whether it is was cold, rainy, or nice weather.. I have had no issues with the boots leaking! My feet aways remain warm and the boots are uber comfortable. My feet are on the narrow side. I have purchased numerous items through altrec and I have never had a bad experience...the customer servious is "second to none".

Another Merrell Boot
Bought to replace older pair. No breakin required and good waterproofing though I usually supplement. Run small so I always size up. They do run a little warm but easily tolerated based on excellent fit and field grip capability.

Excellent for Suburburban/Camping
I have had two pair of Columbia boots, both were good. These Merrills are great! I put them on and right away noticed super comfortable fitting. It has been three weeks of mud, rain and uneven terrain around the yard and campgrounds. They stil feel just as nice when I put them on in the morning! The water beads off them all the way to to the top of the boot. In additon, I noticed that I dont have to tie them super tight at the ankle to have that "snug" feel around the ankle. The other boots (Columbia) I might have to adjust them three or 4 times within the first hour of putting them on. Worth the upgrade in price for me, for sure.

Run at least 1/2 size small
I Love Merrell Shoes so I decided to give these a try. Just got them today and they really run small. I will be returning them for the next size up. They seem to be made well just as I would have expected rom Merrell products. I love the Altrec return policy. Don't have to be wary of ordering online as they will return any item without a hassle.

My husband loves these shoes because there so comfertable and he works outside and the shoes dont break or anything.so in conclusion the shoes my best investment ive made:)

Second pair
I bought these shoes around 4 years ago. I finally trashed the tops and started looking for new boots. Most of what I tried were not comfortable or didn't fit right. I have had good success with Merrell shoes and so started looking at their product line. When I saw this shoe was still on the market I was so pleased with the comfort and performance of my previous pair I just ordered a replacement pair.

Nice boot
I bought these boots and started getting into hiking. The boot has great grip and are for the most part comfortable, but I would recommend getting the boot 1/2 or a full size above your normal size. My toes are taking a beating when heading downhill.

Excellent boots!
We live and work in the mountains of Montana and these are truly a four-season boot. I have tried several different boots throughout the years, however, those days are gone. I really enjoy the weight of these and there is no break-in period. I do find that this boot does run about a half size small.

awesome trekking boots!!!
real gr8 shoes 4treks,camping.i also use it as a everyday shoe during snow etc.great comfort and light as well.the price is the icing on the cake.my best trekking boots.

Great Boots! Comfortable right out of the Box
My 1st pair but, now looking to buy a 2nds pair! great for working outdoors around the house, hiking, camping, fishing, etc. You can wear all day long, better than athletic shoes.

Great boots-I would recomend these to anyone
I was skeptical when the shoe guy at that other store (no longer in business)recommended the Merrell Outland Mid to me. I'm not a hiker but walk 3+ miles a day at work and was having lots of pain in the soles of my feet. It was getting to the point where no boots I wore would be comfy for long. These babies are great! I don't remember them having to break in or anything. They lasted so long my wife finally told me I had to get a new pair they were looking so bad. I retired those to yard work and am now on my third pair. They keep my feet dry and are comfy year round. I'm going to buy another pair in case they quit making these.

Pretty Awesome
I was a little skeptical at first, I'm used to paying a lot more for quality boots but I was wrong. These things totally rock!! They fit great. I hate buying shoes online since you never really no if they will fit. But they fit right on

2nd Pair Owned...still excellent hiking & all-around boots
First pair lasted well over a year with the toe area finally cracking. Little to no break in period. Feet stay warm (or cool, depending on weather) and dry. Definitely my favorite shoes to wear.

Good boot.
I like this boot. Very comfortable. It could use a bit more support by way of a stiffer shank in the sole. Looks good, feels good. Time will tell if it wears well.

Comfortable, rugged, good looking boot
Love thes boots. Comfortable out of the box. Good looking enough for casual wear. If you don't need a dress shoe, these will work very well for a "daily driver" (to use an automotive term).

The Best I've Owned
I bought a pair of these over a year ago and got a lot of use out of them before they finally wore out. When it came time to get a new pair of boots I let someone talk me into buying a different brand. It was a big mistake, as they were more expensive but not nearly as comfortable or functional on long hikes. Soon I was ordering a new pair of Merrell's, and the other brand is buried in my closet.

Great Hiking Boot!!
This is the best hiking boot I have ever purchased! They are very comfortable and require no break in period, & can wear them ALL day long. You just wear them right out of the box.

Really Comfy
I was a little worried about dealing with sizing issues but these fit perfect right out of the box. After having them on for about an hour, I forgot I was wearing them. They're really light, and break in almost immediately. I haven't taken them on the trail yet, but I think I'll be just fine.

Awesome all weather boot
The best pair of hiking boots I ever owned. Not only do they look great but they are very comfortable as well. My girlfriend thinks I look very rugged in them.

A Shoe for All Seasons
This shoe was - as prior reviewers said it would be - incomparable in terms of comfort. As one who walks ten miles a day in the Seattle area, I wanted a shoe that was 100% waterproof. These shoes met that demanding standard on the wettest of fall days. Now they are keeping my feet toasty warm despite being exposed to 25-degree temperatures.

Boots wear great.
I would order a half to a whole size larger since they run small. Strongly recommend for hiking or every day use.

Absolutely fabulous - extremely comfortable.
My 14 year old son thinks these are the bees knees. The most comfortable shoes he's ever had! He will be doing an 8 hour hike in 3 weeks time, and I'm hoping they will STILL be the most comfortable shoes he's ever worn!!
