Fantastic
March 13, 2010
I did my 1st 36 mile hike in Milford Sound with no feet problems in pouring rain. Did get wet, but waded water to knees. I bought 1/2 size larger. Great boot-would highly reccommend
Awesome Boot!

I bought these for paintball and for hiking, put about 5 miles on during a game in fair weather this weekend, kept the mud and water out and my feet breathable and dry! No blisters or pain in my feet.
Good Boots
April 10, 2011
The Moab Mid XCR hiking boots are comfortable, keeps the ankles stable and the feet from overheating. I have hiked short gravel trails to long boulder climbing hikes and found the boots to have good traction. I would recommend getting a half size larger to fit the hiking socks.

I stepped on a woman's foot...
May 18, 2010
I stepped on the foot of a woman who was wearing these boots. She did not even yell at me. She could catch me running, I found out. That is a good boot!
Perfection

These boots fit perfect and there is no need to break them in. They are very light weight, which is great for me because I am outdoors and on my feet all day. Awesome Boot!
The boot I've been looking for
December 22, 2011
From the first time I tried these boots on out of the box I was in love. I was nervous ordering online without ever having tried on a pair of this particular brand however, the previous reviews were very helpful. I am a five foot one inch person who generally wears a size 6 shoe, most of the reviews had said to order a size up and it was pretty accurate. I ordered a size 7 and they fit fantastic with thicker socks on. The first time I wore these was at work for a 10 hour shift and they were very comfortable leaving no blisters or rubbing marks on my feet at all. I have a high arch and the support is very good. With the thick souls and intense tread you get a little bit of a bounce to your step, as well as great grip and added support. Rock climbing in these was a blast and easily done. I felt more confident with each step knowing that the tread wasn't going to move at all. The great tread on these boots also makes walking through loose gravel, rocks, or sand fairly easy allowing you to maintain a good pace while hiking. I have not put anything additional on these boots to help with water or other unwanted elements and have had no problems with any moisture getting in. Overall a great value and a great buy. When this pair finally wears out I am sure to get another pair
Pros: waterproof but yet breathable, stylish for daily wear, maximum comfort, great for hiking and steep climbingnice pair

I usually wear a 7 or 7 1/2 so I ordered the 7 1/2 to give room for thicker hiking socks. They are okay length wise but they are a bit wider through the toes. The color is not "periwinkle" they are a dark gray. Nice looking boots.
great summer hiker

Very lightweight but good support for strenuous walks. They fit perfectly from the very beginning.

Ouch
December 17, 2009
I wore these shoes to hike in Patagonia and regretted buying them. I don't think they are meant for long distance hikes. They creased at the top of the big toe causing considerable pain with every step. And since this is 15 miles of hiking for 5 days straight you can imagine the pain. There also was not enough cushion. The positives are that they did keep my feet quite warm and dry. Going to need to give these shoes away.
Women's Moab Mid GORE-TEX XCR Hiking Boots
January 27, 2011
I recently purchased the boots as a birthday gift for my daughter. I own my own pair and they are very comfortable, water resistant, and great for the snowy, northeast weather. If I had to change anything about them, I would like them to go a bit lower - just above the ankle bone.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valuegreat boot for the price
March 23, 2010
These boots are a nice mix of flexible uppers with good support and a stiff sole with good cushioning. Instead of bending across the sole of the foot, to boot rocks forward, giving the bottom of the foot a nice ride. Other reviews can attest to the waterproofing, as I did not put it to the test. I usually wear an extra insole for arch support and there was plenty of room for it and a wool support sock. Warm enough for a Florida winter, even thought these are lighter-weight boots.
Great Day Hiking shoe!
January 31, 2009
This is a great day hiking shoe, was ready to go right out of the box. It is stable, and I like the extra height, which gives me more security that I won't twist my ankle. The only small drawback was the fact that my foot gets pretty hot even in cool weather, but so far the tradeoff for Gore Tex has been worth the decreased breathability. In terms of sizing, I did not have to order a size up, my regular size was perfect. Recommended!

Very comfortable
March 08, 2011
I was looking for a pair of hiking boots that would have little or no break in time. These are extremely comfortable and felt great right out of the box! I am hoping that they are as waterproof as everyone indicated in their reviews as I've yet to try them out in the rain. I was a little concerned about the trim being too "periwinkle" but it really is more of a gray color. I did have to order one whole size larger as others had recommended and by doing so they fit perfectly.
Pros: very comfortableExcellent fit, comfortable to wear.

Excellent fit, comfortable to wear. They keep your feet dry and warm.
Wish it were better....

I thought that they would fit the same as my older Womem's Moab Mid boot, but they are not as wide at the end of the boot. I tried to change out the insoles and different socks but just could not get the comfort and support that I did from my older pair. I kept feeling pressure at my pinky toe. I love Merrell hiking boots. Sadly, these just were not the right fit.
Comfortable
August 15, 2009
I would definitely order these boots at least one half size above normal. They are very comfortable and will be great for my ankles in tough terrain!
love this boot
June 27, 2008
I didn't get a chance to wear these in before I took a weekend hiking trip, and was afraid I would get blisters, but my feet stayed blister free and comfy! I've worn them for two hiking trips and absolutely love them, very comfortable. I stomped through creeks with my dog and my feet stayed bone dry.
great warm weather hiker

These boots run about 1/2 size too small. I purchaced my first pair of Merrells October 07, and was not let down. Merrell knows MY feet! I have high arches and no padding on the balls of my feet. I did a very long, hot hike in my Moab Mid's and was happy I had bought them. I did add an extra foot pad, just b/c I know my feet. Excellent boot!
Hurt my feet
May 26, 2010
I'm with the other reviewer who stated these shoes crease and then cause pain. They worked fine the first week and then once the crease formed, I couldn't wait to take them off! I've been wearing Merrell's for over 10 years and this style is the first one that I have sent back.
First 200 Miles
July 27, 2011
Woman shoe, size 8.5. I have a high arch and wide (toebox) feet. Merrell in particularly comfortable in the toe box. 1. Hiked Inca trail with a light day pack. Mixed dirt and stone stairs. Boots were extremely comfortable with no break in required 2. Last is flexible and vibram sole is fairly soft. This comfort is a good tradeoff vs. a longer wearing but less comfortable boot 3. Gortex was completely effective on ocasional streams but no downpours or extended submersion . 4. Use primarily for hiking with minimal weight. Great hiking shoe. Softer/comfortable less stiff sole and more flexible shank probably make it less suitable for backpacking.

Most comfortable boots ever!
December 07, 2010
I love these boots, they are comfortable right out of the box. There is very little, if any, breaking-in needed. I ordered a half size up & it was perfect (especially for a little thicker socks). They are waterproof, windproof & very durable. I would highly recommend these boots for light hiking or everyday casual wear. Also, as usual, Altrec has them at a great price!
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat creek hiking boot
December 09, 2009
8.2 miles round trip hiking in a creek and my feet stayed dry! No breaking in required. Very light weight and great traction on rough terrain. Glad I bought them!
Good Balance

I have really hard to fit feet. These boots are so comfortable. I did order a half size larger. I do endurance horse riding a am using them as my riding shoes. I would recommend them to and would get another pair.

Great Boots

These boots are great: lightweight and comfortable. However, they run small. Order a size up for the best fit!
Great boots!!!
March 12, 2012
I bought these boots for a recent trip to Colorado. They were perfect, kept my feet warm and dry! Super comfortable too!! Perfect for the Colorado weather in winter. I wasn't sure what size to order since everyone said they ran small but I ordered my exact size and they fit perfectly! I would highly recommend these boots and would definitely order again.
Exactly as it was promised
April 16, 2010
I needed waterproof, comfortable, extreme support pair of boots that did not need any break-in time. Women's Moab Mid GORE-TEX XCR Hiking Boot was the answer. I only took these boots and pair of Merrells flip flops to my 3 weeks trip to Peru. I wore the flip flops only twice. I had these boots on in the muddy, wet jungle, and during hike on the mountains and trails. I walked into the puddles, streams, wet mud, and my feet were still dry. I did not slip, nor felt the sharp rocks under my feet. They are also easy to clean with water and a brush. I have flat feet with plantar fasciae; it is very hard to find comfortable shoes. My orthotics fit very comfortably in these shoes. I only wore them about one hour on the paved street before my trip to break them in. Very light weight.I had to order half a size bigger. The ordering process was smooth. I am very satisfied with these shoes. Highly recommended.
Nice fit - quality product
June 26, 2011
These shoes arrived on-time as promised by Altrec. They fit comfortably and have a sole that grips the ground nicely. The slighly higher price for the gore-tex version of these shoes is worth the extra cost since the gore-tex is a breatheable fabric. There is plenty of padding around the ankle to provide support.
Pros: good fit, well-padded anklevery confortable, i wore these shoes for 12 hours the first day
February 25, 2008
great fit, 12 hours alot of walking the first day and very confortable.

Good price. Gore-Tex and Merrell. What else is there to say. I'm not big on words. I hope there are enough.
Great boot!
May 03, 2011
I needed some good hiking boots for my trip to the Appalachian trail later this summer. I wanted ankle support and gore-tex. I was surprised to find a pair at this price range. I've been wearing them and have had no pain at all. I ordered a 1/2 size up to accommodate hiking socks and it's a perfect fit. Highly recommend.
