Comfy and rugged
April 10, 2012

I ordered this Merrill Moab and the Keen Shasta at the same time. I have a very long (size 11) and narrow (A) foot, so it usually takes two or three tries until I get the right fit. The Merrill surprised me in feeling great right away. The toebox is a little wide, but it doesn't feel like I'm wearing my brother's shoes. And when I tie it tight enough for my narrow foot, nothing pinches. I sent the Keen back because the sole felt paper thin compared to the Merrill...I mean, the trails in PA are rocky! Downside of the Merrill...I will be adding some kind of arch support insert under the inner pad.

Merrell's Done it Again!
April 04, 2012

As a long time Merrell fan, I was a bit disappointed by my last hiking shoe purchase. Merrell seemed to have changed the fit on my favorite Chameleons and my last pair were too narrow and too short in the toe. BUT, the Merrell Ventilators are perfect! They have a nice wide toe-box that fit comfortably using my cushy hiking socks with room to spare. Once again, Merrell's produced a shoe that's extremely comfortable and blister-free from the first use. I love these shoes and am going to order them in the Gore-Tex version too!

Great shoe, runs small!
March 31, 2012

Just got these shoes the other day and while I love the look and how light they are, they do run quite small, at least if you want to wear a mid-weight hiking sock with them. I wear between an 8-8.5 in a normal shoe, but the 9's in the Moab's were a bit tight. I am sending them back and will order the 9.5.

Great Purchased
February 07, 2012

These are light weight, comfortable and besides using them on just hiking trails they work great for just every day wear. I took the advice of others and order a half size larger and they fit nice. I would like to see more colors in this style so they could be used for different attire.

Pros: comfortable

No breaking in needed!
January 20, 2012

This is the second pair of these wonderful hiking shoes I have purchased. They fit comfortably right out of the box. I bought my first pair last fall and went hiking 8 miles per day for 10 days in Bryce and Zion. This is the first time I have ever hiked without a blister. And I never felt any foot fatigue.

Pros: no break in period, excellent support, true to size
Cons: none

Great all-around shoe
October 23, 2011

The Moab Ventilator is lightweight and airy, yet has good construction and a firm Vibram sole. I wear this shoe for teaching and standing on hard surfaces, as well as for walking and hiking. The design features make it versatile and adaptable for the office and the outdoors. There is room for an orthodic if needed.

Total contentment!
June 15, 2011

My wife already had a pair of Moab Ventilator Hiking boots. I got her a pair of low cut Moab Ventilator Hiking shoes to wear around every day. She says she can't even tell she's wearing shoes and will never wear anything else.

Merrell Scores!
May 25, 2011

The Merrell Moab Ventilator fulfills all of my requirements for a dog walking/hiking/trail jogging shoe. I am 5' 3" and 56 years old; I normally wear a 7.5 in a hiking or running shoe and the Moab 7.5 fits me just right: firm arch support, snug at my heels but with just enough wiggle room for my toes. Only hours out of the box the shoes combined the support and traction of a low cut hiking shoe with the comfort of a running shoe. I daily hike and run with my 3 dogs in local game lands across wide open, grassy fields, through the woods on stony single tracks, and up and down creek banks. The Moab Ventilator holds up well and helps me handle this terrain with ease; even after several miles on an 83 degree afternoon I am blister free. I have decided to keep one pair just for the game lands; I will buy a 2nd pair for dog walks in town.

Daughter loves them
May 12, 2011

I bought these shoes for our 10 year old daughter for school and hiking use and they're perfect. She wears them almost daily and they're perfect for hiking in our area. Very pleased.

Pros: look great, very comfortable

These are the only hiking shoes I ever need!
May 05, 2011

I LOVE and buy a new pair of these every year. They are the only hiking shoes I ever get. I hked 2 months in Nepal in these up to Everest Base Camp even. I hike all the time in the Rockies in these. I do use hiking poles but other then that they are stable enough for me and I LOVE THEM!!! They are very comfortable right out of the box, highly breathable, and great traction. I dont like boots that go over the ankles but if you do you can get the same model thats higher up.

Pros: comfortable, lightweight, great traction, breathable

Great pair of hiking shoes
April 19, 2011

I love my Merrills. They are durable and comfortable. I bought them for hiking in Costa Rica. I wanted something lightweight. They didn't even need breaking in. The color is perfect. I would definitely buy another pair.

Pros: durable, lightweight, didn't need breaking in

Very comfortable!
November 13, 2010

I have the beginnings of arthritis in my feet, and it's very important to find a shoe that is supportive enough to wear on uneven ground. I bought one pair to test the stamina of the shoe while hiking. I liked them so much that I then ordered two more pair! IN the past I have waited to reorder shoes, only to find that the shoe manufacturer has made unsatisfactory changes in them. One pair's good, Three are better!

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value

Great shoe. Lighter, cooler version of the Pulse.
May 05, 2010

Fit is same as leather Pulse model, and with same VIBRAM sole. Great support but better for summer wear

Great shoe
April 14, 2010

I bought these shoes for my wife for hiking and everyday use. She loves them! They fit great right out of the box and are extremely comfortable. There was almost no break in period. I would definitely get another pair when these eventually wear out.

My wife loves these shoes for everyday wear
February 28, 2010

I bought these for my wife and she wears them for an everyday shoe. She says they have great arch support and they're comfortable.

Totally worth it
February 24, 2010

I love this shoe. I used it for hiking in Utah and it is awesome! It has great soles and the construction is really worth the money. Thanks to the previous reviews, I got a 1/2 size bigger too and it fits perfectly. I used a waterproof spray over it. It looks clunky but is very comfortable. Extremely happy with these shoes!

nice shoe
February 17, 2010

I bought this for girl friend. she said they are very comfortable and light. and shipping was fast.

Great for Walking
February 13, 2010

Bought in the fall and have been wearing throughout the winter for my walks.

Merrell Fan - Great Shoe
December 20, 2009

I will be purchasing another. This is a great walking shoe, sturdy and comfortable. Runs about 1/2 size small.

great sneaker
October 21, 2009

fits great, right out of the box. I'm on my 3rd generation Moab Ventilator.

We loved them so much we purchased a second pair!
September 03, 2009

My daughter loved her Merrell Hiking shoes so much that when she out grew them she only wanted to replace them with a larger size. They were sturdy, comfortable and perfect for day hikes up around the mountains of Canada.

Best Shoes Ever
August 28, 2009

I purchased a pair of these shoes two years ago in a different color. They have been awesome! When I started looking for a new pair of Merrell's I couldn't believe they still sold the same shoes. I will never buy another brand of shoe after the Merrell Moab's. They are so comfortable all day long. Altrec is an awesome site as well. Received the shoes 4 business days after I placed my order with FREE SHIPPING! Thanks, Altrec!

I love them!
August 17, 2009

I ordered a half size larger and that worked great. Very comfortable, the support is phenomenal. I absolutely love these Moab's!

Bad fit and a really heavy shoe.
June 16, 2009

I generally love Merrell's, but these shoes were very disappointing. They ran at least a half size too small and they were very heavy and clunky to wear.

Heidi Hall

well made and comfortable
June 03, 2009

I keep coming back to Merrell. These shoes are great for warmer weather and light in weight for long days on the trail. They are nicely padded at the heel and can be laced firmly for support without putting pressure on the top of the foot. I am very particular about my shoes and these are just about perfect!

A great shoe
February 17, 2009

I love these shoes. Merrill is a top notch shoe. This is my second pair. Loved the first so much that I ordered another pair in a different color. I wear these shoes all weekend long. Very comfortable and they need no break in - ready to go right out of the box!

Excellent running shoe
February 08, 2009

Great support not just for hiking...I have ran in these shoes for over a year. I have not had any injuries. Just purchased a "foo foo" pair of running shoes and my knee began to ache. Went to the website to order the shoes I know will not cause injury and will offer great support during my run.

excellent, comfortable
December 17, 2008

Great shoe, really comfortable, not too hot for summer and warm enough for Taylor Valley, Antarctica field work. Bought this pair because I like my first pair so much and do not want to have to look for a new shoe when the first pair wears out.

An awesome shoe
August 02, 2008

I've always loved Merrell but these shoes have been the best so far. I haven't gotten to use them on my usual long backpacking trips of 20 or miles per day but I've used them for several shorter (6-8 miles) hikes and never had to break them in and never had a problem. Plus they are stylish enough that I can wear them even if I'm not hiking. Thanks!
